  • @Iamcatatonya - hi there again, yes...i'm wishing for spring in a major way right now!...anyway. actually, artie did basically all the harmony, as well - not paul. paul wrote the lyrics and the song (melody/chords). artie wrote the harmonies and both paul and artie helped with the arrangements. so artie would have to teach paul the harmonies. btw, i agree with you - artie's voice is incredible, my god...what a voice. they are truly synergistic together; neither is as good alone.

  • Wait a minute. Is that Paul Simon's father playing double bass in the back? I understand he did accompany them from time to time.

  • Two equally great singers with equally ridiculous haircuts.

  • @Iamcatatonya - no no, paul's not pissed at artie. artie taught paul to sing harmonies. watch it again. paul's a bit *shagrined*. he LOST the harmony. listen to it again carefully. i heard him lose it; he dropped out so he could pick it back up. this is '66. artie has perfect pitch. paul doesn't, and had problems with harmonies when it wasn't the melody line.

  • They made up. 'Friends' again & that's what counts... and the music will carry on for generations to enjoy and appreciate

  • @ChubbySwiggit Hey, thank you for the sensible comment. I’m sort of pissed with all those bad comments about the partnership and friendship of Simon and Paul. Any old friends have a lot of good moments and some bad ones. I'm very grateful for they have left so many wonderful songs.

  • It's a bit amazing that Paul Simon, being the writer of most of these songs, thought after a while that "he" was the sound of Simon and Garfunkel. But in truth, it's always the melodic and unusual singing style of Art Garfunkel that gave this duo their really unique and recognizable tone.

  • Ironic that most of this duo's career has been based on the "inability to communicate" talk about prophetic.

And Paul's attempt to disguise his NY accent always cracks me up!

  • I just love this song

  • was Art Garfunkel getting ready to audition for "Eraserhead?"

  • As big as hair was in the 80's, Art's 'do beats it all. Nice video.

  • They're oh so earnest!

  • @asktunes Or high...

  • A true classic

  • truly prophetic

  • I always thought this song was about deft people having sex. Boy was I off.

  • @DidHeDead This comment cracked me up. The more serious S&G looked the more i laughed! Good one!

  • such a timeless song especially today, with all this false communication like texting.
