Well the advert's top notch, the car itself isn't that bad - the body line is appealing - fresh but familiar. But I simply cannot forgive the rear design. In this brave new world of mish mash 'luxury' car design where everything essentially looks the same, the rear just doesn't say 'jag' to me.
Well then this car is meant to resemble the original from the front with the big grill and twin headlamps. But I see how they have added a modern theme to the car. The current XJ does not stand out because most people confuse it for an x-type. The back is quite good because it stand's out. And how can you compare it to a GM Vauxhall or even a PSA Citroen (yuck).

I'm praying Jaguar will evolve the back-end shape into something more Jaguar-ish. If you look at the "old XJR" it has evolved into a handsome brute, especially the XJR-R in black. Its looks like the type of car a hitman would drive.

They should not have curved the taillights, I agree. The back is still stunning, though. Very clean, like a bently or Rolls. But I do agree that the back could be re-done.
Also, I loved the last generation XJ, like the 2009, yeah. No one ever gave it credit for looking so unbelievably pretty.
to me, this car is no longer a competiter to the S class and 700 series (well... it is but in a diff weigh) its more less of a competer too the Maserati Quattroporte and tht Porsche sedan thing, its more of a sports car is wht im trying to say
What was Jaguar thinking by blacking-out the C-pillar?, they totally cheapened the already sleek contour of the car. One other criticism are those American/Korean inspired tail lamps. Besides that everything about the exterior is very well done.
Them light's are meant to resemble a cat's claw. If you look at the strips it looks like a cat has scratched the tail lamps, a bit French and Korean (cheap tat) but quite original. Watch as the copy masters (japanese) start putting that stuff on a Lexus.
the base models XJ is only 72,500 with a 5.4 0-60thats great i love the back of it looks a lil like the maserati quattroporte only the rear lights curve onto the trunk lid.
perfect car front back all around i love it the top of the line xj supersport has a 0-60 of 4.7 and is priced at 115,000 and the maserati quattroporte sport gt s is at around 138,000 with a 0-60 of 5.1 so ill take the jag plus it looks a lil better.
I think the rear looks so plain because the rest of the car is absolutely stunning!
