  • great swing for a 2nd grader, i know you'll be a pro soon

  • you are doing GREAT! please keep it up!!

  • @britishjamz , thanks. she is progressing rather nicely and is still enjoys competing. not posting anymore videos because of others misuse these videos.

  • @REINALDOCORPUZ what do you mean they "misuse" them

  • @REINALDOCORPUZ she must be 13yrs old now, does she still want to be a pro, how is she progressing when you say rather nicely ?..are you hoping for a seles/hingis style quick rise to the top ?.

  • AHHHH IM FROM HONOLULU <3

  • LOL!!!...her backhand is more controlled than my forehand....

  • @federerbestcIass ikr..same here

  • VERY GOD PLAYER; Hope to see you in a final great chelem tournament in the future. If you like tennis and really want to be a great tennis women, keep on training to be the best. The best rank is number 1 , not number 2 even if some people don't think so.

THE LAST FOUR WORDS : NO PAIN NO GAIN.

  • I hate the awkward look when a child has a racquet that is too large for him/her. it also leads to tendonitis in the wrist

  • wow she is amazing!!! never seen anyone that young play so amazingly well! keep it up little one! :)

  • gostaria que ver um jogo entre isabela mercante e voce, pena que moramos tao longe de voce mas quem sabe um dia, parabens pela habilidade no tenis grande abraço do pai de isabela, - wellington mercante

  • Nice top spin

  • panalo!

  • She's awesome!

  • Yeah, she is definitely going world-class though.

  • It kind of looks like she is swinging the racket back too much before hitting the shot...she can get a wrist injury easily at that kind of age.

  • good observation. she was 7 when we shot this two years ago. she still brings the racquet back like all players with a full swing. she is maximizing her strength by taking a full swing. it is bad timing and bad technique that causes injuries, not the length of the stroke. thanks

  • I agree. The one thing I noticed which a lot of younger tennis players do is they have trouble keeping the racket on one side of the body.

  • right...

  • wow i play tennis n she betta den me n im only 14!!!!! =0

  • that racket is bigger then she is! lol. but she is really really good

  • she quit

  • she's better than him, lol. just kidding.

  • lol its like and elephant playing with a mouse ;D

  • In addition, you should also contact Oscar Wegner. What Oscar can do for a player is he will allow a student to play within their own unique style. Then as a player gets real good, I suggest staying with Nick.

  • she will definitely become a world class tennis player. But whether or not she will be in top 20 or 50 is yet to be seen.

  • aww

the raquet is bigger than she is

  • Hi REINA!!!! THis is your cousin.

  • holy shit!!! i cant even see her head over the net yet she pounds every ball!!

  • Katreina is sooooo cute!!! She is my favourite pro player already :) I wish her the best of luck and I just hope people don't put too much pressure on her, or she'll end up like Vaidisova... If Miss Corpuz works hard, she can make it to the top!!!

  • She would kick my butt!

  • VERY GOOD!

  • Very Nice!

  • We hope to play together some day... bye byeeee ;-)

  • she's good for her age no doubt. let's hope the coach is competent

  • she looks a little tight when she hits her forhand

  • omg ive got the same racket as her!!!

  • her shots look so wild but when it gets to the part where u see the guy serving to her the shots aren't that wild. like it looks shes hitting everything out but when u change the angle she isn't lol

  • shes ight but she lobs it too much if she can get the ball closer to the net her shots would be amazing

  • if she like Justine she needs to learn 1 backhand. second she needs to Eat food. protein. look at her muscle its all worked out. but she is good though.

  • can you take a look at Jeddys tennis

  • She Hits The Ball Down The Middle Alot - But If She's Practises A Lot And Is Keen, Then She's Well Learn To Hit The Lines. I Defintely Agree With Her Comment About Justine, Pity She's Retired.

  • give her a break man shes like 8 years old shes gonna get better as she gets older and more experienced

  • I didn't say anything bad about her - i only said that if she is keen and trains hard she will turn out to be a good player.

  • umm she can hit the ball good all the time but it seem likes her opponent weither it being a friend a coach or family member is returning the ball to her if she is practising like she probably is she needs to get used to different shots like ones which go to open areas hmm drop shots its important at that age to be ready for any time of shot which is what i knew opps sorry by bad!

  • She's not friggin in 2nd grade. She looks my age, 11

  • needs to work on stepping in but overall she's pretty good

  • her problem is that she keeps raising her fronnt foot

  • good observation. check out her newest video and see if she's still doing that. thanks.

  • It doesn't look like she's tiring o_0

  • theres noway she can be this gd shes got the techniques mastered almost and it took me till i was 9 to do wot she is doin plz hope she aiont nine lol

  • if you can do what she is doing when you are nine, that is excellent. keep it up.

  • tyvm i play 5 days a week 4 hours a day i work on 1 thing perday then test them all at the weekend

  • how did you get her to be so good? for those of us tennis nuts who love the game and want our kids to play as well and be good players what advice to give?

also about it being her dream. its a tough thing to deal with uh? as a parent its your job to make sure she reaches her potential right? How do you keep from 'overdoing it'? Is that something you think about?

  • google "katreina corpuz" and read article about her. as for advice, i'm not sure i have any to give. i just love her to death and would do anything to support her education and tennis. when she's not in school she's with me. she approaches tennis like she approaches school: love it, work hard, get better each day, set goals, try to be the best. thanks for your kind words. email me your number if you want to talk.

  • she's already better than the 40 year old 3.5 women at my club!

  • its funny you say that, she has an aunty about that age but she's 4.0, and Katriena beats her easily. most women and men at the club level cannot run down her hots because she has too much pace and placement. she practices with college kids at BYU Hawaii, NCAA division II champions. We just shot a video of her playing these college kids, i just have to edit for length before i post it soon on youtube.

  • wow should be interesting to see that one

  • When is that video going to be posted?

  • sorry i've been busy with other stuff, hopefully 1st week of june. i just have to edit three hours of footage into a three minute video.

  • well personally I think her technique is excellent. I haven't seen any other girls her age that are able to move like that and have control!

  • thanks. we work hard in perfecting her technique, but it's impossible to expect flawlessness at this age due to her size and physical limitations. I have seen videos of some of the top players, boys and girls, and I can see her technique better than all at this age. but my job is not to be a cheerleader but to see how she can get better. thanks

  • justine henin did cocaine

  • very good she will become a pro but one thing in courage a full swing so the racket comes and touchs the back

  • whoa...she can beat me and im 14

  • thanks, but whoever she beats will not matter until she's 16. good luck in your game

  • I can't believe people are trying to point out her flaws. Seriously if you think about it she is probably 4 feet tall. She isn't very strong, so of course she has to generate the power somewhere. If she is 7 and is able to hit the ball like that she will obviously be better than anyone posting comments in this video will be 8 years from now.

  • thanks for pointing what should be obvious to most. Even though she is so young and wants to hit with power and tries to use or overuse some muscles to overcome her size, I discourage her and try to correct her flaws. I am much more concerned with mastering proper technique over generating power on all her different shots. You will see her progression when I post her latest video soon in the next week or so. You will see her muscles more powerful and her technique so much cleaner. thanks

  • Amazing, one of the best prodigies ive seen yet!

    How old is she btw?

  • thanks. she'll be 8 this June. stay tuned for upcoming video update soon, you'll be even more amazed.

  • for openers just look at the fh backswing. if you cannot figure out what is wrong then I won't. i am sure eventually you will figure out the "grips" situation. Maybe Macci can fix it all for you

  • you spell pretty well for a kid. I guess kids are entitled to comment also. thanks

  • not a kid...

  • What a lovely little girl. She's obviously hugely talented for her age. I hope she does well.

  • thank you

  • very many technical flaws. some major some minor but they all add up. timing and legwork is not together as well as balance and rotation. good player but for now playing with limited technical skills

  • once again, how old is she? I challenge you that there is only a handful of 7-8 year old girls in the world that can hit and move the way she does. What are your qualifications? I know this is a public forum and all opinions are welcome, but how have you acquired your lack of knowledge? How about some suggestions and specific statements about how she can improve?

  • WOW VERY GOOD I REALLY LIKED HER,I PLAY TENNIS, BUT SHES BETTER THAN ME.

how old is she, is she indian or african?

she's really good, keep it up!!

  • thanks, she's age 7 and ethnicity is Filipino. BTW, her cousin, Allisen Corpuz is also Filipino, one of the top age 10 and under golfers in the world. She won the Calloway World Junior Golf Championships at San Diego and at Pinehurst.

  • Wow she amazed me! I started tennis once, but I gave up, and I think she is great and have potential. Yeah, I'm just amazed by her! ^^

  • thanks for your kind comments. I hope you give tennis another try, maybe take some lessons from your local professional. Good luck!

  • i also want to be a world class player i hope 1 day i could play her in a tournament.

also i see how she hits the ball shalow in the court to where the ball dips once its at the net thats my favorite. but one thing i suck at the most is puting spin on the ball.

  • that good ive played tennis for 1 year now and i dont think i could keep the ball up that long she is good has she entered tournaments? i once saw a 9 year old girl play realy good so much she won a tournament against 14year olds i hope she makes it to her dreams

  • thanks buddy, and with hard work, excellent coaching, and love for the game, you can be a great player.but, be patient, because it is not about tournament results if you're still under 15;it's about skills, skills, and more skills

  • Good Luck!!!

  • thanks

  • why give her a 2 backhand volley? and a 2 backhand slice u get more reach voley and slice with a 1 hander.

other than that good video let her win wimbledon and youll never have to work again

  • She does hit a one-handed BH slice. Her left hand is on the throat of the racquet as her right arm drives the ball down and her left arm shoots out. On the BH volley, she tends to hold that left hand during impact, and releases the left hand backwards. Since this video was made in Nov. 06, she now volleys with just her right arm at impact and her left am releases backwards much earlier. I will be posting an updated video soon. Thanks for your keen observations.

  • Excellent. I have been coaching kids for a long, long time. This girl is excellent. Good technique, quick feet, a great athlete, some pop to her strokes. Honestly, of all the 'prodigies' on you tube, many who get lots of hype in the press, this girl is the best. The serve, the return of service....no one dares post that as it is the toughest part for a 7 year old. This kid is the real deal.

  • thanks for your compliments. i've noticed that people who have been around tennis a long time, who participates in the development of children athletes, and who understands the technical, mental, and physical demands of top level tennis, seem to appreciate her talent the most. What you can't see on the video, though, and I know it to be her greatest asset as a tennis player, is her competitive spirit and her desire to be the best. Thanks

  • You are welcome. So many kids at that age hit off the back foot, your daughter attacks the ball on both sides. Best of luck!!

  • So long as it remains her dream and only her dream them good luck to her.

  • Pretty good, I've been playing tennis for 1 summer now and im 16. It's really fun and if she keeps it up someday she'll be in the pros. Keep up the good work!

  • thanks. i'm glad you enjoy playing.

  • did she win the little mo?

  • she didn't enter; she was training at Rick Macci's this summer. she'll more than likely play little mo this year.

  • She is really good!

  • Thanks. I think she is the best 7-8 year old girl in the U.S. and possibly the world. Her dream is to win the U.S. Open and Wimbledon Championships.
