couldnt have said it better myself, when i saw them last september they scared the fucking shit out of me and yet it was probably the most awe-inspiring and beautiful thing i'd ever experienced.
I can't tell you how much I love the fact that a band of two austere women/two fey guys is, simultaneously, heavier than Motorhead, as melodic as the Beatles, as lackadaisical as Pavement, and as loud as The Who in their prime.
been waiting since 1989 and anyone who didn't get it - well we can't all recognise genius.
from some of the comments and reviews i've read a lot of people just missed the point. can you have CD quality clarity at massive volume with swirling guitar noise? more to the point - why the fuck are you going to see MBV if that is what you want? what the hell were people expecting it to be like? Mika?
more noise! more volume! less clarity! i want my music vague!
I am pleased I am not the only person to think the sound was awful ( see my other notes ). It really sounded like the mobile phone footage recorded on 1/4" mics, but slightly louder. After a 16 yr wait, a huge dissapointment.
I was there on the 20th, and the sound was amazing. They're one of the best sounding live bands I've ever seen. They made the studio recordings a hundred times more powerful.
Awesome gig - worth waiting 17 years for. The sound was great where we were (better than the last 3 times I've seen MBV) but it may have been different in different parts of the room. 8)
it was a wall of white noise, dont get me wrong i love noise, as i went to see Ministry , and will be going to see Mudhoney and Butthole surfers soon, But there is a thing called clarity where you can hear what the tune is without nudging your mate next to you and asking what the fucks this track.
I have just read that the new MBV album is delayed, well its hardly a shock and more a running joke with them
i was there and i thought it was crap, The sound quality was so muddy and vile that it took at least a quarter of each song for me to recognise it., the sound bounced around the place , Awful waste of my time
saw them in '92 and saw them last night.
They are timeless and immortal and beautiful and fucking terrifying.

can't help but think the main guitar harmony sounds like dinosaurs mating though.
