I hate Final Fantasy. They are just the maniacal and stupid stories I have ever seen. FFVII I thought had a very nice story up until Aerith died. FFVI also I thought had a good story up until you are stuck with Ceres as the Main Character throughout the rest of the game. FFV also was interesting, up until you lose Galuf. FFIV was terrific until they made that DS game. Sesil, come on. IT IS CECIL! SEEcil. Come on. They cannot even pronounce romantic noble names correctly.
Just for the record, Sahz was hanging onto the backspike of a mechanical bird. And Barret wasn't awful! I admit I didn't use him much, but he wasn't horrible. You shouldn't have stopped after 7, there's good stuff after that too. I dare you to play nine for instance and not like it. I mean it.
disagree about the battle system, i think its a massive improvement, completly understand about the linear path, it ruins what otherwise is a an amazing game, the only thing that kept me playing 13 was the thought that eventually it would get less linear (and i'd paid for it). Next time i'll get mass effect instead
@ianalexander1989 - I don't think the lack of ability to explore was enough to ruin this game. Though, it is sort of depressing that the only area that is open at all for exploration is Chapter 11 on Gran Pulse.

Ugh! in Gran Pulse (Archylte Steppe) there are side parts/quests! When you unlock Chocobos you can go to the side parts of Archylte Steppe and go to Haerii Archaeopolis and there's also another part from that where you can go do Titans Trials. So obviously you haven't fully completed the game, or you would know this. o- o -Rage-
My first final fantasy game, I just got through the first disk, and i love it. To me, it sounds like they played this game for an hour and decided to make a terrible review and make a few laughs. That one chick said she hasn't played a final fantasy game since the seventh, YET SHE CRITICIZES IT? If you are thinking about buying this game, don't let this review bother you because its biased!
this guy just sucks at the game. he doesn't know how to play it and he say the battle system is bad lol. The battle system of FFXIII is unique and very interactive. i like it! i agree about the storyline though. the story is too.... monotonous to me.
@TidoBlitz Nice concept ruined by the bad 2ndary characters character design. I'd love to be able to use all character's Eidolons and not only the leader's one an of course more easy way to use all those different components to upgrade weapons and an easier way to make money for some way too expensive components and rare items not fall so extremely rare from enemies. At least ffXIII-2 will be a little more interesting in gameplay. I like the fact that you will capture enemies to fight with you.
Story still outweighs Ultra super graphics!!! My rating of FFXIII... Graphics is 9.5 but Story and Characterization is 3. Original Conceptualization is 1.

yea its linear and i personally couldnt find many char that i liked most of them kinda pissed me off or i loved and hated them at the same time. battle system bad?if you battle yourself the game is really challenging and if youre not using the right paradigms you will most likely lose many boss fights its all about using the right combo. the story was great and if you got "confused" (as some complain) you have low attention span. the game isnt square's best yes 13 could have been better
but ppl saying that it was horrible are just going too far, imho. that being said i will admit i'm disappointed that square enix is slipping and that they need to step up and work to their potential(which can and has produce beyond brilliant games!)
Third: The whole quest situation the reason why the quest are near the end and all the quests are monster boss quests, are because they are trying to keep the game challenging. The truth is the quest bosses as you go along are far harder then the storyline bosses This game is all about the storyline but best thing about this game that stands out the most is the graphics if their is anything that needs to mentioned about this game is that the graphics are Incredible

Think about it you have 6 people riding Bahumut and Bahumut in this game ant that big. Also there were four planes thay actually get in.

What the hell? Final Fantasy is definitely one of the BEST video game series ever. I don't like the fact that XIII was linear either but you have to keep in mind that this was the first FF game for PS3 or Xbox 360 with amazingly gorgeous graphics PLUS a beautiful story. From what I've heard, XIII-2 will be a lot less linear with more interaction. Quit insulting a game without even researching it.

FFXIII is not an emo game. Did you even look at Gran Pulse before you RETURNED IT?? You have to complete a game before you can start making false, hostile accusations. The landscapes and backgrounds are beautiful, and the storyline is the most dramatic and inspiring I've ever seen.

I thought this channel only did decent anime review but its FFXIII review wasn't so good and yea its not forcing someone to do auto assign, and also the game isn't racist in anyway. I don;t get why people make such a big deal out of games when they have a black character in it.
Second, final fantasy XIII and square enix kicks your asses any time. This story line was unlike any other (besides zack fairs death) and the battle style was completely fine. It's not forcing you to do auto assign, it's just faster because choosing through like 20 amazing commands can be hard if you don't know the opponents weakness, that way it's fast and if you wanna have it differently then do it your fucking self. No ones making you.

I just got Final Fantasy 13, and so far i'm enjoying it. I love the story line games, and I had never played final fantasy before, so I decided to try it. it tool me a while to figure out the battle thing, as Im used to games like zelda, but after i got used to it, I started to find the battle sequences quite enjoyable. im not a maga gamer, (note my lack of tecnical tearms) but I do enjoy it. this game is really fun, and I love the graphics
@TheMessangerofheaven The only thing is 13 is far from the best Final Fantasy out there. There's Final Fantasy 4, which was great and the first Final Fantasy that had a real story line, and onward, they've been collectively loved. Honestly, I would recommend Final Fantasy 6, 7, 9, and 10, but that's becaus they're my favorites. Don't stop with just 13, please :(

the game was fun but i always felt.... rushed. i guess... cause i never really used the lvl up thing just did it until i could successfully beat a boss or a summons.. lol so i guess i failed
got final fantasy XIII and so far (have not completed it) its great. BUT it really irks me you just go where it tells you, you can no longer explore in final fantasy game. still a good game though and this 1 has an amazing story

dude when ppl can spend like 50+ hours on a game for more 10 games and STILL like it you probably dont need to make changes as significant as ff13 did.
the auto battle part is what made me the most mad. i went in to settings and changed it to manual. i miss MP points and stocking up on potions at the town store but in ff13 your health refills and checkpoints after every battle.
@michaelbryant21 Trust me dude, if FFXIII didn't have auto-health refill, you would be severely pissed, you would constantly have to buy/use up potions. And besides, if they had the same gameplay in every FF, then I think the series would've ended along time ago because of how stale it would've became.
@TheJudgeBalthier having a dedicated healer to heal every one after the battle plus stocking up on potions and hi potions was fine in all the other FF games. obviously it wouldnt work in 13 because of the way they built the game you would lose tons of health and switch paradigms to refill it. the gameplay was bad from the get go

This is not me trolling, this is honesty. You guys are completely full of SHIT! Don't judge a game before even playing it, and for the one who did...the hunts being the ONLY sidequest? really?? besides, what are sidequests really? most of them in any game ARE killing enemies. either that or fetch quests. the auto-battle thing was blown WAY out of proportion. this is in fact one of the more challenging FF games. there is PLENTY of strategizing involved during battles.
The way people cripple FFXIII feels like an abuse; yes, linear to the point of annoyance, BUT it has a beautiful story and character development, pretty much the opposite of XII, which was gameplay-directed. To me, the fusion of the good sides of both would make an extraordinair RPG
I stopped watching at 7:50-8:00. He LIES. I know everyone's said it already, but 1-You don't have to use Auto-Battle. If you do, you actually lose quicker, IMHO. I get faster results not using it. 2-It's NOT emo. It's got great characters, and Sazh is NOT played racistly. Sure the "him hanging on" thing was slightly irritating, but it makes sense, considering sazh was the comedy relief. Besides, would you prefer he sat on someone's lap?? >.< That's it, no super-long rant here...

what you can also do to not choose auto battle is to slow down the atb charge in the settings, even with haste you have enough time to choose what you are ganna do.

in the battle system you don't HAVE to do auto battle, (i don't use it) and it makes the game a bigger challenge. It doesn't really just play its self out you still have to like be pressing buttons a lot. I luv ff xiii, it's a really good game, and for those who don't know there is a sequal coming out next year. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSsssss... XD

@valypaly3 I completely agree. FFXIII's character, storyline, and overall depth was extremely lacking. Linearity wasn't too much of a problem for me either. Lacking depth and a mediocre storyline was, on the other hand.
I liked FFVII too, but it isn't really my favorite though. The story was good and so was gameplay, but I liked the story and gameplay in FFX a bit better. But that's just me.

I'm not to opptomistic about XIII-2 but I'll probably still play it. and ya I did enjoy X, I actually just beat it last week and am going to play X-2 once I can get it. VII is my fav personally, so I'm glad u at least liked it. X is my second fav tho so far. I just hope that Square Enix makes a comeback sometime soon with another good Final Fantasy
@valypaly3 if you are going to play 10-2 soon i highly recommend that you beat the game on 100% because its mostly made up of side quests, so you will only get a brief summery of the story. this is probably why the game has such a low rating as. which makes me laugh. 10-2 not linear, got bad ratings. 13 linear, also got bad ratings even though both had as much content as any the others and had decent stories as well. seems to me people just like to complain.
@xynth101088 ya I guess people do just like to complain. I am enjoying X-2, about halfway through. I am trying to get 100%, I don't really mind doing the sidequests and stuff anyway. Just gotta use a walkthrough so I don't miss much, not thrilled that I don't have much of a choice if I want 100%, but I'm used to using them anyways. Well I think ppl didnt like x-2 cuz of that, doesn't bother me tho. 13 just had much more that irrated me, but I don't regret playing it, was fun.

FF Xlll WAS emo, all the characters did was complain and hate themselves. Sahz was the only character with a decent, honorble story, and they reduced him to the black comedy relief. Snow was a pedophile, and everyone else was a crybaby. Wait for the next game, this one was very dissapointing.
I haven't played FFXIII yet, so I can't really judge it, but some auto battle option can be useful if the fight you're actually in doesn't require a lot of tactics, like the classic CRPG example of a level 100 party going against 200 cockroaches. It those cases it can be really frustrating to order everybody to attack again and again ;)

Everything he says about FF XIII is 100% true. In the end, it's crap. But it's SO hard to admit that it's bad because the soundtrack is INCREDIBLE. The best video game soundtrack I've heard for 2010 and for a VERY long while. The characters are amazing, all the graphics are absolutely STUNNING. Storyline's actually pretty cool, but gameplay-wise, it's just NOT GOOD. I really can't believe they're making a XIII-2. I hope it's acting as a make-up video game for the disappointments of XIII.

XIII Is pathetic compared to them. The battle system is total shit you switch paradgims and autobattle, yes you can do that through the whole game even the side missions. The story is fine if you read evrything you get wich is a pain in the ass. You can almost never choose leader on your own and it feels like your running in a straight line almost all the time and finally the characters didn't get to me at all.

This guy is being a little dramatic. Yes the Auto-battle system is something you use a LOT throughout the game but there are times when you will need to choose which abilities you need to use. You will NOT be able to win this game with Auto-battle and Paradigm Shifts alone. The only real problem with this game is that it is a little linear. Though you can go back to Gran Pulse and do a whole lot of stuff. This game is meant more for it's story than for it's side quests.
Lol hard to break it to you dude but I beat the game using only the auto attack and paradigm shift. Took like 9 months but thats because some part requires you to grind and once in a while I can't beat a boss so I stop playing for 1 or 2 months then start again.
The cutscenes were phenomenal, thats the only reason why I brought FFXIII, and I wasn't disappointed.
@jvn09211 I find it hard to believe what you are telling me. I have tried to only use the auto-battle feature and it IS impossible to not use the Abilities command. Orphan and Barthandelus' III form can not be beaten with out it.

the only thing I didnt like about the final fantasy XIII battle system was the ridiculous high HP that enemies had early on. this game really is good if you give it a chance. I try to balance out the paradigms.
@Minan3 My guess for the high HPs is that it's so that there's actually time and reason to use the paradigm shift system, still kinda annoying though.
@crypto66 yeah and if you stay in a paradigm too long throughout the battle, you get a low rank. I really dont like having to continously change paradigms throughout battle, but it adds tactic to the battle system.

@sleepyperson23 thats also true too but its mostly for developement because they are behind schedule for relaseing both since they were introduced in 2008 or 2009 but if you see the crystal nebulais or whatever they call it, gameplay is still being worked on with versus, and this is the third time they changed the battle system for agito. hopefully this confrence will settle on what release date they both will come out.

Just for the record, Sahz was hanging onto the backspike of a mechanical bird. And Barret wasn't awful! I admit I didn't use him much, but he wasn't horrible. You shouldn't have stopped after 7, there's good stuff after that too. I dare you to play nine for instance and not like it. I mean it.

disagree about the battle system, i think its a massive improvement, completly understand about the linear path, it ruins what otherwise is a an amazing game, the only thing that kept me playing 13 was the thought that eventually it would get less linear (and i'd paid for it). Next time i'll get mass effect instead

@ianalexander1989 - I don't think the lack of ability to explore was enough to ruin this game. Though, it is sort of depressing that the only area that is open at all for exploration is Chapter 11 on Gran Pulse.

Ugh! in Gran Pulse (Archylte Steppe) there are side parts/quests! When you unlock Chocobos you can go to the side parts of Archylte Steppe and go to Haerii Archaeopolis and there's also another part from that where you can go do Titans Trials. So obviously you haven't fully completed the game, or you would know this. o- o -Rage-

@TidoBlitz Nice concept ruined by the bad 2ndary characters character design. I'd love to be able to use all character's Eidolons and not only the leader's one an of course more easy way to use all those different components to upgrade weapons and an easier way to make money for some way too expensive components and rare items not fall so extremely rare from enemies. At least ffXIII-2 will be a little more interesting in gameplay. I like the fact that you will capture enemies to fight with you.

yea its linear and i personally couldnt find many char that i liked most of them kinda pissed me off or i loved and hated them at the same time. battle system bad?if you battle yourself the game is really challenging and if youre not using the right paradigms you will most likely lose many boss fights its all about using the right combo. the story was great and if you got "confused" (as some complain) you have low attention span. the game isnt square's best yes 13 could have been better

Third: The whole quest situation the reason why the quest are near the end and all the quests are monster boss quests, are because they are trying to keep the game challenging. The truth is the quest bosses as you go along are far harder then the storyline bosses This game is all about the storyline but best thing about this game that stands out the most is the graphics if their is anything that needs to mentioned about this game is that the graphics are Incredible

Plane? wait what plane was he hanging on in the back for his life? If I remember correctly that wasnt a plane, that was a monster and it ant your average monster THAT WAS BAHUMUT.
Think about it you have 6 people riding Bahumut and Bahumut in this game ant that big. Also there were four planes thay actually get in.
one was crashed by sahz, another was an acutal lvl of the game. The other two were being controlled by other entities, both of which he was inside the vehicle NOT OUTSIDE

What the hell? Final Fantasy is definitely one of the BEST video game series ever. I don't like the fact that XIII was linear either but you have to keep in mind that this was the first FF game for PS3 or Xbox 360 with amazingly gorgeous graphics PLUS a beautiful story. From what I've heard, XIII-2 will be a lot less linear with more interaction. Quit insulting a game without even researching it.

wow you guys are horrible, final fantasy is probably one of the best games invented, and ff xii was an amazing game, the reason why it is so linear is because the game itself was too big including graphics and stuff, so much story they tried to cram it all in, and they still had to make a xiii-2. o btw ff vii made me cry too, crisis core was based on that, and it had one of the saddest and best endings of ff

Fuck You!!! That battle system was fucking wonderful, it's not their fault you just decided not to use it, you don't have to put it on auto mode. The best game I've EVER played and you fuckers just sit around insulting it. FFXIII is not an emo game. Did you even look at Gran Pulse before you RETURNED IT?? You have to complete a game before you can start making false, hostile accusations. The landscapes and backgrounds are beautiful, and the storyline is the most dramatic and inspiring I've ever seen.

Second, final fantasy XIII and square enix kicks your asses any time. This story line was unlike any other (besides zack fairs death) and the battle style was completely fine. It's not forcing you to do auto assign, it's just faster because choosing through like 20 amazing commands can be hard if you don't know the opponents weakness, that way it's fast and if you wanna have it differently then do it your fucking self. No ones making you.

First off, it was a flying monster :l and besides the only other ship they were in was when sazh was flying it and lightning took the controlls to fire the weaponry. It's not racist or sexist, if it were racist sazh would not have any control over any part of the game and it's not sexist because there must be someone standing up, being vanille, lightning, sazh, or snow, I don't know if fang was there yet, don't think so...

I just got Final Fantasy 13, and so far i'm enjoying it. I love the story line games, and I had never played final fantasy before, so I decided to try it. it tool me a while to figure out the battle thing, as Im used to games like zelda, but after i got used to it, I started to find the battle sequences quite enjoyable. im not a maga gamer, (note my lack of tecnical tearms) but I do enjoy it. this game is really fun, and I love the graphics

There's Final Fantasy 4, which was great and the first Final Fantasy that had a real story line, and onward, they've been collectively loved. Honestly, I would recommend Final Fantasy 6, 7, 9, and 10, but that's becaus they're my favorites. Don't stop with just 13, please :(

3. Sazh got to fly the airship, that means he was at the front... sitting down, the only one without a seat was Lighting, so thats sexist not racist.
4.FFVII, VIII, X were the best, and if you look into those games X was linear until you get the airship.

ff13 is a great example of dont fix it if it aint broke.
dude when ppl can spend like 50+ hours on a game for more 10 games and STILL like it you probably dont need to make changes as significant as ff13 did.
the auto battle part is what made me the most mad. i went in to settings and changed it to manual. i miss MP points and stocking up on potions at the town store but in ff13 your health refills and checkpoints after every battle.
i loved the story but gameplay was not the best

@michaelbryant21 Trust me dude, if FFXIII didn't have auto-health refill, you would be severely pissed, you would constantly have to buy/use up potions. And besides, if they had the same gameplay in every FF, then I think the series would've ended along time ago because of how stale it would've became.

@TheJudgeBalthier having a dedicated healer to heal every one after the battle plus stocking up on potions and hi potions was fine in all the other FF games. obviously it wouldnt work in 13 because of the way they built the game you would lose tons of health and switch paradigms to refill it. the gameplay was bad from the get go
and the gameplay pretty much has been the same for every FF game just with minor tweaks. most all of them use the ATB gauge or turn based gameplay.

If you wanted to win difficult battles, you didn't rely on the auto-choose, and you always have to be watching. I don't think the two others should be judging of they haven't played it, though.
Also, they weren't on a plane, they were Bahamut, who has no seats. Plus, Sazh was hanging off for comic relief.

This is not me trolling, this is honesty. You guys are completely full of SHIT! Don't judge a game before even playing it, and for the one who did...the hunts being the ONLY sidequest? really?? besides, what are sidequests really? most of them in any game ARE killing enemies. either that or fetch quests. the auto-battle thing was blown WAY out of proportion. this is in fact one of the more challenging FF games. there is PLENTY of strategizing involved during battles.

The way people cripple FFXIII feels like an abuse; yes, linear to the point of annoyance, BUT it has a beautiful story and character development, pretty much the opposite of XII, which was gameplay-directed. To me, the fusion of the good sides of both would make an extraordinair RPG

I stopped watching at 7:50-8:00. He LIES. I know everyone's said it already, but 1-You don't have to use Auto-Battle. If you do, you actually lose quicker, IMHO. I get faster results not using it. 2-It's NOT emo. It's got great characters, and Sazh is NOT played racistly. Sure the "him hanging on" thing was slightly irritating, but it makes sense, considering sazh was the comedy relief. Besides, would you prefer he sat on someone's lap?? >.< That's it, no super-long rant here...

in the battle system you don't HAVE to do auto battle, (i don't use it) and it makes the game a bigger challenge. It doesn't really just play its self out you still have to like be pressing buttons a lot. I luv ff xiii, it's a really good game, and for those who don't know there is a sequal coming out next year. I could have dealt with the linearity if only the story was good. i mean it starts really good, but ended up going nowhere. I did like the fighting tho, was different and fun. and the graphics were great of course but thats not important to me in games, storys and character depth is, thats why I didn't like this. was fun tho, I'm sticking with VII games for now

@valypaly3 I completely agree. FFXIII's character, storyline, and overall depth was extremely lacking. Linearity wasn't too much of a problem for me either. Lacking depth and a mediocre storyline was, on the other hand.
I liked FFVII too, but it isn't really my favorite though. The story was good and so was gameplay, but I liked the story and gameplay in FFX a bit better. But that's just me.

@Carrossea yes I agree, I really think they could have went somewhere great with the story and characters but for whatever reason didn't. I'm not to opptomistic about XIII-2 but I'll probably still play it. and ya I did enjoy X, I actually just beat it last week and am going to play X-2 once I can get it. VII is my fav personally, so I'm glad u at least liked it. X is my second fav tho so far. I just hope that Square Enix makes a comeback sometime soon with another good Final Fantasy

@valypaly3 if you are going to play 10-2 soon i highly recommend that you beat the game on 100% because its mostly made up of side quests, so you will only get a brief summery of the story. this is probably why the game has such a low rating as. which makes me laugh. 10-2 not linear, got bad ratings. 13 linear, also got bad ratings even though both had as much content as any the others and had decent stories as well. seems to me people just like to complain.

@xynth101088 ya I guess people do just like to complain. I am enjoying X-2, about halfway through. I am trying to get 100%, I don't really mind doing the sidequests and stuff anyway. Just gotta use a walkthrough so I don't miss much, not thrilled that I don't have much of a choice if I want 100%, but I'm used to using them anyways. Well I think ppl didnt like x-2 cuz of that, doesn't bother me tho. 13 just had much more that irrated me, but I don't regret playing it, was fun.

I haven't played FFXIII yet, so I can't really judge it, but some auto battle option can be useful if the fight you're actually in doesn't require a lot of tactics, like the classic CRPG example of a level 100 party going against 200 cockroaches. It those cases it can be really frustrating to order everybody to attack again and again ;)

Everything he says about FF XIII is 100% true. In the end, it's crap. But it's SO hard to admit that it's bad because the soundtrack is INCREDIBLE. The best video game soundtrack I've heard for 2010 and for a VERY long while. The characters are amazing, all the graphics are absolutely STUNNING. Storyline's actually pretty cool, but gameplay-wise, it's just NOT GOOD. I really can't believe they're making a XIII-2. I hope it's acting as a make-up video game for the disappointments of XIII.

XIII Is pathetic compared to them. The battle system is total shit you switch paradgims and autobattle, yes you can do that through the whole game even the side missions. The story is fine if you read evrything you get wich is a pain in the ass. You can almost never choose leader on your own and it feels like your running in a straight line almost all the time and finally the characters didn't get to me at all.

@justmedawg Agreed. FFXIII isn't racist at all because Sazh is like the comedian of FFXIII so they put him in the back, hanging on to the bird's back and give him something to react to and make that moment humorous.

This guy is being a little dramatic. Yes the Auto-battle system is something you use a LOT throughout the game but there are times when you will need to choose which abilities you need to use. You will NOT be able to win this game with Auto-battle and Paradigm Shifts alone. The only real problem with this game is that it is a little linear. Though you can go back to Gran Pulse and do a whole lot of stuff. This game is meant more for it's story than for it's side quests.

Lol hard to break it to you dude but I beat the game using only the auto attack and paradigm shift. Took like 9 months but thats because some part requires you to grind and once in a while I can't beat a boss so I stop playing for 1 or 2 months then start again.
The cutscenes were phenomenal, thats the only reason why I brought FFXIII, and I wasn't disappointed.

@jvn09211 I find it hard to believe what you are telling me. I have tried to only use the auto-battle feature and it IS impossible to not use the Abilities command. Orphan and Barthandelus' III form can not be beaten with out it.

i cannot say anything about how good or bad the battle system is because i haven't played it myself so far, but even if it was "press x to start battle, press x again to end it" (which it isn't) this has to do nothing with emo.

the only thing I didnt like about the final fantasy XIII battle system was the ridiculous high HP that enemies had early on. this game really is good if you give it a chance. I try to balance out the paradigms.

@crypto66 yeah and if you stay in a paradigm too long throughout the battle, you get a low rank. I really dont like having to continously change paradigms throughout battle, but it adds tactic to the battle system.

@sleepyperson23 thats also true too but its mostly for developement because they are behind schedule for relaseing both since they were introduced in 2008 or 2009 but if you see the crystal nebulais or whatever they call it, gameplay is still being worked on with versus, and this is the third time they changed the battle system for agito. hopefully this confrence will settle on what release date they both will come out.
