  • we sang this for the Virginia all state choir in 2010 and he directed it. it was perhaps one of the greatest 4 minutes 46 seconds of my life as a singer thus far.

  • sdsdsd - see querty's comments...

  • This is such a beautiful song, and a fairly good performance, even if the choir did go about a half step flat.

  • doing this for a district concert choir. you have NO idea how excited i am <3

  • For once, people agree on something; 118 likes, 0 dislikes.

  • Sang this as a senior at our commencement along with "Go the distance". Everyone I talked to said the "I am not yours" was the most incredible thing they had ever heard.

  • i've yet to hear a good recording of this song. WHERE CAN I FIND ONE?!?!

  • @solecki357 are you deaf??!!! this is amazing!!!!

  • I feel as though recognition should be given to Sarah Teasdale for writing the poem that the lyrics are composed of. Why is she not mentioned in the description?

  • I've performed this piece (Bass II) four or five times, and every time I sang it (including rehearsals) I got chills at "O, plunge me deep in love". Absolutely beautiful.

  • @2tallblues Dr. Randall Stroope is directing our choir and he chose this song for us and it's absolutely gorgeous. "O, Plunge me deep me love" is his favorite part too. You can see it in his face when he conducts.

  • im actually working with a teacher who worked with randal. its soo cool!

  • I can't stop listening to this. It makes my soul bloom.

  • One of the most emotionally sensitive performances of this piece I've ever heard. Absolutely magical pianissimi. Congratulations!

  • My soul sings because of music like this.

  • god. just chills

  • TPSMEA All-State Choir is doing this piece this year. WITH Z. RANDALL STROOPE AS THE CLINICIAN/CONDUCTOR!!!!!!

  • Words really can't describe how beautiful this song is. Only words put to a tune can come close: these words, and this tune.

  • :'(

  • @sadateetee you mean :') is soooo beautiful

  • Excellent song. We're doing this for a concert. This is an excellent vocal presentation. I did notice that they went quite flat near the end. Overall, great job. Great dynamics. Good diction. A very full and rich sound.

  • @koolaidman0093 Agreed! Very much so!

  • This has to be the most beautiful piece of music ever written. I can't count how many times I've cried listening to and singing this song with my high school choir.

  • @GameJourney I always want to cry, but I can't!!!! Makes me mad. But I really do like this.

  • It was so wonderful to sing this song in choir.

  • I found this video about a week ago and have been listening to at least once a day ever since. It makes my heart melt :)

  • LOVE this song <3

and your username amuses me :P it took me a moment to put it together

  • Somebody wrote the beginning of this poem on a table in the book stacks at my university and it made me think of this song when I saw it. :) I love it!

  • Stroope's music is other-worldly.

  • The bass part is so awesome for this song.

  • stroope directed us on this song himself at our all state choir. amaazingg.

  • Stroope did an incredible job on this song! He worked with my choir at camp, and i gotta say, he is freakishly halarious and fun! Whoop for Stroope!

  • I'm doing this song for Regional Honor's Choir. The music and the words are so incredibly beautiful :)

  • oh my goodness! i loveee this songg! (: i'm going to audition for my state honors choir in december, and i cannot wait to learn this (: this song is honestly beautiful (:

  • my highschool symphonic choir did this...amazing...i wish i had a recording to upload

  • Best recording of this piece on youtube.

  • amazing balance!!!!! go tenors and altos!

  • Glorious music. I hear one person ask "Can Z. Randall be the new and improved John Rutter? Accessible. Moving. (sometimes tear-jerking). Lovely."

  • @ddball1 personally i like stroope better than rutter, i will not deny rutter's briliance but stroope just makes my heart sing, this is one of my absolute favorites but psalm 23 and caritas et amor hit home so much... uh i love stroope

  • @kixuloz agreed completely! one of the best arrangers/composers I've ever conducted and sang...his connection to the text is evident in every work, and that alone just makes it more personal.

  • @kixuloz I too love Dr, Stroope. He is an excellent man I just yesterday had the honor of performing under. His skill is phenomenal in getting a beautiful performance in a short amount of time.

  • @kixuloz he's directing our choir, and I absolutely love his music, and personality. He's a great guy!

  • I agree! This is stunning.

  • Finally a quality recording and performance of this on youtube!!

    Thanks!

  • @alexthomasdude its not on youtube but i found a magnificent recording on playlist
