  • To my mind, all claims to having a more original culture are dubious. We are all modern cultures, fundamentally altered, fundamentally different from a past that is long gone, fundamentally marked and changed by external influences as well as internal impetus to change.

  • It is a bit silly I must agree. Yet in my parents day and among the Latvian American Community I grew up in. I say for a fact when Latgallians, Zemegalians, etc would debate among themselves at the Folk gatherings to accuse a Latgallian of being of slavic cultural orgin.. Well them were fighting words.. lol

  • @dykun

Do you know the name of the song being sung acappella at the end of your video, starting at 4:08? I remember it as one of the songs my Latvian grandparents sang. Also the first dance number is a familiar melody. Do you know that one as well? I loved your historical information.

  • Слава Латвії, Слава Україні !!!

  • Braliukas! Greeting from Lithuania.

  • Well this might cause world war three to break out ..lol But being Latgallian myself I can say most Latgallians consider themselves the true Ancient Latvians ;). The other three tribes having a long history of cross cultural mixing with Urgo Finns. Their culture is much more younger and mixed ;)
