Oh God you poor poor bastards - the most petrifying thing is that Japan is the most prepared nation on this earth (with perhaps Hawaii as an exception) for earthquakes and tsunamis and this one just powered on through. Truly horrendous experience for the Japanese people.
I would assume the person survived because he is still shooting as the wave recedes.The building survived and can be seen in many of the aftermath clips. But I think I see your point. Hypothermia, or an attempt to leave the building early, before the surges stopped could have taken a toll. The camera simply could have been past on. There was also a problem with stairways, many were just washed away. I understand helicopters played a big role in roof top rescue?, now you have me going.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone know if the person on the roof of building at 01:56 mins survived...I saw this footage months ago....and seeing it again still fills me with sadness and awe!!!...JAPAN WILL OVERCOME!!!!! [ o ]
@arcadia4819 I've watched this video repeatedly and also saw what you're talking about, and I'm not sure that really is a person at 1:56. I believe it's a piece of debris that rises up and then tips over, on the far side of the red building's wreckage.
But if it IS a person, then no, I'm sure they didn't survive, and they were among the 20,000 or so people killed in this horrible disaster.
@hebneh I saw footage that was much clearer and it def looks like a person....but on watching this again it does look like debris too!!! Almost a year on and I still find it hard to believe it happened,especially since Japan was so "Tsunami Ready",after all their engineering, it couldnt stop the force of nature!!!! Thanks heaps for reply....[ o ]
When the water was at its deepest, to see almost no buildings visible is frightful. And then, as it recedes, the surviving structures reappear - but the backwash of the ocean returning to its rightful place is even more violent...

原さんへ
「くるぶしまで浸った」との事ですが、それはシーパルⅠ(5Fのほう)の屋上の部分でですか・・;;
シーパルⅠの5Fで 15メートル 屋上で18メートルはあると思いますが、そんなに波高高かったんですね・・・;;

....世紀の映像だ・・・;;
