  • How do you join half of granny squares???

  • sorry Teresa but I cannot figure this out without seeing it . . . I have the exact instructiosn that are in the book for doing it correctly, and I can send these to you but don't know if you want them here on this site . . . I will try anything but think I am stumped until I see a video . . . sorry

  • great video . . . can you advise how you would make the other half of a different color but attached to and made part of the first half to make the whole square, i.e. one full granny square with the color change diagonally across the square . . . I have not been able to figure this out and would appreciate your help . . . thanks

  • @shatzi03 You can do this by changing color at the halfway point. If you turn on each round, you will be able to come back and pick up the previous color. If you do not want to turn and want the stitches on one side, you will have a lot of tails to sew in.

  • @tjw1963

I'm doing this afghan for a Christmas gift.

(search: WT1042 Crochet Wreaths Afghan. UTube won't let me post the link.)

I'm having a TERRIBLE time understanding the instructions for the half-and-half granny square. I suppose b/c I am a visual learner (which is why I love your channel!) If you ever do a tutorial on a half-and-half granny square, please let me know! And thank you for taking the time to make all your videos. . I know where to look when I need help!

  • why do you chain 3 and THEN turn?

  • @jmdeserna You can turn and chain 3. The order does not matter. The chain 3 counts at the first stitch. You will see different variations for the step up to the next row/round.

  • this is great, thanks. do you have a vid on how to connect them all into an afghan?

  • Can I make the same half granny in a solid half?

You have the best videos. I work with you almost every morning.

  • Yes you can do the same with the solid.

  • Best tutorial I have used from the internet. Directions very clear and end product exactly as I had hoped it would be. Thanks.

  • Thank you very much.

  • Thanks so much for this tutorial! I'm currently making all 5 of my kids an afghan of their own and asked them what they wanted. My 13 year old son wants an afghan with the Mizzou "M" logo in the center and I'll need to use half grannys. Thanks so much for the magic loop method too! I'm off to visit your blog and other videos!

  • You are welcome. :) I appreciate your comments and feedback. I bet your kids will love their afghans.

  • thank you, i can use it to make shawls for days. be blessed,my sister, im very grateful for this.

  • Thank you. :)

  • this comes at a great time. I am doing an afghan, that i was wondering how to do half a square. this is going to work great. Question tho, is there a way to make half a square from side to side instead of corner to corner? thanks!! Great tut.

  • I believe I see a way it could be done. I would need to practice through it just to make sure it looks normal.

  • i always wondered how to crochet that shape! never new it was half of a granny square! thanks so much!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • very cool. I wonder how i'm going to use it...

  • I don't know if you have ever seen granny afghans that create picture images or the granny square shaped stuffed animals. You can use it in picture afghans or shaping edges with the stuffed animals and afghans. It may not be something that you have a purpose for now, but you may find a purpose in the future.

  • Hmmm... I never heard of granny square blankets with images in them or of granny square stuffed animals. That sounds very interesting, esp the toys. I'll try to google it and see what I can find!
