No, it says "The Captain loves Gravel Gertie" Gertie was a character in the Dick Tracy comic strip in the 1940s--it was said that she had a “face that could scare a cat off a fish wagon.”
My favorite moment of this AWESOME 'toon is when Sam takes his boat out for the third time after repairs, only to lose the hull. The music keeps playing triumphantly until it submerges! JUST EPIC FUNNY, MAN!!! LOVE IT!!!
That's alright, gerundive. Sounds great, just the way it is! Hugs to ya, for postin' it! Thanx, and, God bless ya, for doin' that! Love the Irish mouse in it!
I seriously doubt if that's what happened aboard the Titanic during it's last hours. Besides, Bugs and Sam were sippin' cocktails in the sun on a Malibu beach at the time.
Not to worry--Poor Sam doesn't have the cognitive depth to stand a chance with that ruthless rodent! Bugs can manipulate Sam without breaking a sweat, while Sam thinks it's his own idea.
Once upon a time, Americans were smart enough to appreciate humor like this. Now all we have are pandering "reality" shows that have the humor of a 2 year old.
I doubt if even the demented minds that came up with such absurdity as Shanghai Sam and Bugs Bunny could ever forsee the preposterousness of which the creators of Sponge Bob would be capable!
Has the world gone "lol" and "roflolololol"? Doesn't ANYBODY speak even BAD English anymore? Thankfully, the only speech malady from which Bugs suffered was a tired plebeian Brooklyn accent!
I recorded this episode on VHS back in 1992 and still have it, though it doesn't show Sam smacking Bugs or Bugs' expression at 1:51 and 3:18 respectively. Also, when Bugs looks at the anchor at 4:09, the scene doesn't show him smiling on my tape. Nevertheless, still funny. My favorite parts are still when the ship sinks.
Twenty or so years ago, someone published a parody "Tom & Jerry" comic book that REALLY looked if it was done by the actual Tom & Jerry artists, but each time violence was perpetrated on either Tom or Jerry, the injuries and/or mutilations remained in subsequent scenes, 'til it had turned into an horrific graphic novel--there was no longer anything funny about it! It might have contributed to the discontinuance of graphic violence in cartoons.
No--it was made in 1948 and PUBLISHED in 1950. If I had a clearer copy, you'd see the Roman numerals MCML at the bottom of the opening frame. Look up "Mutiny on the Bunny" on google or Wikipedia
the ending is priceless.....bugs ropes off the stern end and all that's left are the masts and stays....launched right down into the bottom of the bay. Too much!

Good ol Bugs. Always ten steps ahead. I love how he can't just let Sam say he's captain once--he has to really make it stick!

Just info for you... this toon was created in 1948, (MCMXLVIII) not 1950 according to the date on the title sequence.
