People who don't train wonder why this move isn't used more. It's a touchy choke to hit. It takes a LOT of practice to nail it. Keep in mind the north south choke master just showed you how to do it. Of course it looks easy when Marcelo Garcia does it.
As effective this choke is I never could understand why the mma fighters dont use this very often . When I wrestled almost 40 years ago .I used this move all the time to mes with my apponents . Every pin I got was with that combination but not all the way as the choke was ilegal in varsity wrestling in 1970

I don know homwmany times I see I guy put his arm behind his apponents head only to abondone it . About 6 years ago The boys withesed me take on two guys at the same time ... Which led to a guy that trained with Dave Benatau (UFC 3 Fialist I think ) to comment on my skills . So I told him I wasnt impressed with UFC fighters because they didnt know how to finish a fight from side control

And right there in front of 50 people I went from side control to a north south choke by sliding down on his chest till I had a vise like choke on him .. Within 30 seconds his friends were pulling on my legs to let go , when I did Our mma practitioner was as white as a ghost and very grogy . he couldent believe what just hapened . At the time He was maybe 26 and I was 56. him 240 me 195 max
@ibhardonyou You have to have room to work this submission. Most of the time a fighter on his back will also have his head on or very near the cage by virtue of having been pushed there during the take down.

This choke takes a LOT of practice. Simplest chokes are often the most intricate.
