I can only hear one mispronounced word... its "paradise". She could have it with the "american A" like the "a" in "apple" in how americans say it. Its like "ae" and not a flat "a". @marckyboyish Compare with how Dusty sings the song, or compare with how Karen sings similar songs, the verdict is much the same. Both Karen and Dusty built huge reputations because of their ability to interpret. Dusty in particular was a smart lady - probably not at her best in this song to be truthful. But either singer could perform this song much better than the Claire I see here.
Does not sound like Karen's voice in this song. Much harder quality altogether. Not exactly a romantic feel for this ballad. We need more flow on the vocal. This is too speech like for me. Pretty distinctive though. She needs to sort the breathing out to get through those phrases!

Beautiful song, and beautiful version too. Dusty Springfield version is good too. Claire de la Fuente has got a wonderful voice. But although their beautiful voices, I can´t help imagine Karen singing this song.

Ms. DelaFuente is a way, way better singer than that Charice Pengpengco. She does not scream into the mike like Pengpengco does. And Ms. Delafuente is more vesatile -- Pengpengco can only sing 3-4 songs. Also, Pengpengco sounds very "trying-hard" while Ms. Delafuente sounds more steady and more confident.

there's no doubt claire can sing and possessed a powerful voice but I think she exaggerated on this video...I'd still go for Dusty's version...nothing beats the original.
Im glad that Richard had the chance to record this song with Claire. Bashers abound in the Philippines -- those who are untalented or are insecure about their own abilities that they don't know how to deal with their inadequacies that instead of improving themselves choose to put down those who possess what they desire in themselves. So mga bakla, take your insecurities elsewhere. Sa internet lng naman kasi ay nakikinig sa inyo.
If you listen closely to other singers, you will notice that each has his own accent, may it be southern, british or even black. Even Karen has an accent in her songs. The good thing about Claire, is that if she wanted to, she can totally mimic Karen but she chooses not to. She has her own style. Even in "Sayang" days. They just have vocal similarities because they're both altos. Hindi nakakasawa ang song kahit paulit-ulit.
Never heard of Claire Dela Fuentes before, but listening to her here, she is damn good. This is the best rendition of Something In Your Eyes I've heard. It's simple, unpretentious, and just gets to the heart of it. It's superior to Dusty Springfield's version -- and I love Dusty.

SO YOU ARE BETTER THAN RICHARD CARPENTER. Richard would never allow the release of this recording if he is not satisfied. You should compose your song and record it the way you want it. But your insults to this recording is also an insult to Richard himself.
Claire's enunciation is far better than that of Dusty. You can clearly understand each word in this version. Even the composers Richard & Pamela only have praises for Claire. Of course there are those who just cannot accept that a better version of this song is released in 2008.

My honest opinion: Claire could have sung this one better in her prime.
Also, she sang it with the Pinoy "accent". She could learn a thing or two from Arnel Pineda who sings Journey songs near-perfectly.
Bottomline, the late great Dusty Springfield's just too much of a legend to top.

Thanks for this beautiful song! Actually, I missed Claire as much as I missed Karen Carpenter..they were both parts of my teenage years growing up in Manila in the late 70's. I am here in Arizona USA now but I keep longing for the good old days!

a very nice rendition of a song by a great song writer, of course I would have loved to hear Karen sing it - but Claire idolizes Karen's voice and so I think she inwardly is trying to sing for Richard as near as she thinks Karen would sound. Well done

Ms. DelaFuente is a way, way better singer than that Charice Pengpengco. She does not scream into the mike like Pengpengco does. And Ms. Delafuente is more vesatile -- Pengpengco can only sing 3-4 songs. Also, Pengpengco sounds very "trying-hard" while Ms. Delafuente sounds more steady and more confident.

there's no doubt claire can sing and possessed a powerful voice but I think she exaggerated on this video...I'd still go for Dusty's version...nothing beats the original.

Im glad that Richard had the chance to record this song with Claire. Karen will always stay in our hearts along with her songs and Claire singing with Richard made me feel that her legacy still continues. Im sure they are a lot of negative people out there are about to give their opinions about this video and I really dont care, youve done a terrific job Claire. Mabuhay ka!

Bashers abound in the Philippines -- those who are untalented or are insecure about their own abilities that they don't know how to deal with their inadequacies that instead of improving themselves choose to put down those who possess what they desire in themselves. If you listen closely to other singers, you will notice that each has his own accent, may it be southern, british or even black. Even Karen has an accent in her songs. The good thing about Claire, is that if she wanted to, she can totally mimic Karen but she chooses not to. She has her own style. Even in "Sayang" days. They just have vocal similarities because they're both altos. Hindi nakakasawa ang song kahit paulit-ulit.

Never heard of Claire Dela Fuentes before, but listening to her here, she is damn good. This is the best rendition of Something In Your Eyes I've heard. It's simple, unpretentious, and just gets to the heart of it. It's superior to Dusty Springfield's version -- and I love Dusty.

when i was 5 or 6 yrs old, nagtataka ako kung bakit marunong magtagalog si Karen carpenters. Sa radio ng lolo ko lang naririnig kc palagi. wala kaming tv sa bario but my plaka kami ng the carpenters. Obviously hindi ko pa kilala noon si claire dela fuente. si clair pala yung naririnig ko sa radio and not Karen. I am very proud na may kababayan tayo na kasing husay ni miss carpenter.

Oy, medyo off nga ang diction. Kung for local release yan, okey yan kasi mas malinaw sa tenga pero since for international release, medyo turn off yan sa mga "untrained" ears ng mga dayuhan (who are the target audience). Nothing personal against Claire ha?

please listen to the songs of karen. malinaw sa tenga at hindi kinakain ang words. There is still a significant population in the States who prefer this genre. Before this recording was released, the producer(Christian, an american) together with the composer/lyricist(Pamela/Richard, also americans)served as quality control and they did not notice any bad diction.

Claire's enunciation is far better than that of Dusty. You can clearly understand each word in this version. Even the composers Richard & Pamela only have praises for Claire. Of course there are those who just cannot accept that a better version of this song is released in 2008.
