The guitars has some kind of vibrating that reminds of surf rock. It can also be heard on demoversions of last days here. Lieblings singing is also vibrant and expressive, but not in a heavy metal way. Did theese guys have anything to do with surf rock or were they from the west coast? i think their sound is very different from Black sabbath´s, even though they are often compared. Both are great bands, but i would say that they have totally different musical backgrund

@Waldvonhass You can't call Pentagram and bands like this from the late 60s and 70s Doom Metal because they predate the term. It was called either called Heavy Metal or Hard Rock or Acid Rock back in the day by the fans. Doom Metal and Black Metal were terms devised in the 80s.

The guitars has some kind of vibrating that reminds of surf rock. It can also be heard on demoversions of last days here. Lieblings singing is also vibrant and expressive, but not in a heavy metal way. Did theese guys have anything to do with surf rock or were they from the west coast? i think their sound is very different from Black sabbath´s, even though they are often compared. Both are great bands, but i would say that they have totally different musical backgrund

@elruchito I hadn´t thought about steve marriot, but you´re absolutely right! "Afterglow of your love" for example its nothing else but a proto-metal song from a mod-band. I also associate Liebling or maybe the whole band with Sky saxon and the seeds.

@Waldvonhass You can't call Pentagram and bands like this from the late 60s and 70s Doom Metal because they predate the term. It was called either called Heavy Metal or Hard Rock or Acid Rock back in the day by the fans. Doom Metal and Black Metal were terms devised in the 80s.

@SupernautG BUT as the 80's doom mettlers (such as Thomas Gabriel warrior) cited bands like this as the biggest influence of them, and if you listen to the feel of the song, all that is missing from it to be from the modern era is the "crunch" . Sorry, it's in the genre as far as I am concerned.

Some people like both.. you can't just tell someone to limit themselves to one genre of music. Mixing the music is a horrible idea, you get shitty nu metal bands when mixing things like Rap and Metal, but Classical and Metal makes a good combination.
But liking both doesn't necessarily make them fakes. They're fakes if they only go into a mosh pit for two seconds and then feel badass.
