  • Love the ability to articulate the concept and really get the point across. Was looking for some good vids to share and I was impressed at the presentation and explanation.

  • crunches are not even close to the best workout for your abs!!!

  • at the moment me and my cousin are doing the normal "wrong" so i mean i dont have an excerise ball so im not sure what we should do. would it be worth buying an excersise ball or is it just as good doing something else? im training to join the army and have a little bit left to do but i want to be the best i can be before i get in =]

  • Question: What is working when you anchor your feet while performing sit-ups / crunches? This would include the ab bench, the sit-up board, and any and all crunch machines where the feet are connected. If you answered abdominal musculature you are 40% correct. The prime movers are the hip flexor complex. It is hard to explain in words. Just because you train an area, doesn't mean you change the texture of that area.   • umm... There're so many vids on here with that says 'The perfect sit-up' etc. But they all do it different? How do you know which one to trust? You could try and see which gives the best reasults, but I still am unsure of who is right and wrong. It's a case of which is best for you?

  • Dude, good video. It is fustrating the amount of myths many people have. e.g more reps is better, doing sit ups will reduce the fat around stomach when if its all your doing is excentuating the area.

    It's a shame you weren't given a whole show to help explain more of the science the general public should know. It's mainly a lack of education not a lack of effort that the average gym goer has.

  • does the hot potato type crunch work not sure what its actually called but where your in crunch position and you move the weight ball from side to side? i tried the crunch with a ball but i cant feel tension or anything

  • Adam, what are people thinking while rotating side to side with a load ( medicine ball)? they think spot reduction. We cant twist fat off the body but we can wrench our spines. The lumbar spine only has 3-4 degrees of rotation. I call this move a disk-pepper grinder.We cant spot reduce, we cant twist,. shake, vibrate, fat off ther body.WE LOSE FAT IN THE REVERSE ORDER THAT WE PUT IT ON. FIRST PLACE ON...LAST PLACE OFF.   • That move is for an entirely different system. There is no spinal flexion ( crunch movement) that is core integrity and balance...not bad just not going to directly focused on the goal.

  • i understand that the abdominals are one muscle and you cannot specifically train upper or lower as such but can issolate yeah? if so how do we issolate the lower abbdominals with spinal flexion and without using the leg muscles? many people say that any abb workout works the whole abbs. but i find that i either get a pump in the upper or lower depending on what exercise and how i contract them. (im 17 yrs old and do body building) just curious cos i love the sport and want to learn :D

  • The definition of a crunch is spinal flexion. The ribs move towrds the hip bones. Be careful you do not 'sit-up" if this is allowed you will shut off the 'abs" and activate trunk and leg muscles. Perform the crunch the same way you would on the ball. Look at the range in the video...it is all the same...no matter the environment...the motion stays the same. The environment is just unaccoustom stimulis...Remember...abs start in the kitchen!!!

  • and how do I do the 'perfect crunch' without the ball?
