My goddess that was depression. I wanted to cry :/ I can't imagine what they must be going through. If I lost my dancing.... And especially the ones whose career ended RIGHT before the Olympics. But I mean all of that, paralysis, anorexia, instant death with a broken neck...is so sad :/ I don't feel bad for the ones left off the team, no offense. Because when paired with the perminate injuries/death... :( :( at least they can still walk and do gymnastics you know?

I'm sixteen, and just tore my ligaments in my knee 2 days ago, just a couple of months before the first nationals I had a chance of placing in... now I can't walk and have to do 3 months of physio before I can train again, I don't even know what to do.
i am 11 and started gymnastics when i was 3 and at age 10 i was doing a back handspring on beam and i slipped and i tore my ACL and was forced to quit gymnastics. I am now starting up again in january and i hope i am as good as i was (i was in level 7)

In some extreme cases some gymnasts will refrain from eating and develope disorders like Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia. Gymnasts are supposed to maintain a specific weight. Because of this some of them don't grow or hit puberty. "Pixies" is what they're sometimes called.

@LilR33ves oh wow not this again. mate every sport has its bad points. every sport is as hard and dangours as gymnastics. for example. horseriding in one of the disaplines you go at 40kph and jump a soild obsitical thats xc. hundreds have died at every level in that. and thats only one of the disaplines. theres stil things like vaulting, showjumping, racing, all the western pleasure disaplains. while your sports only have 5 or 6 different ways to die so sports have hunrdreds

im 12 and i took gymnastics since i was and it all ended last year when i fell of the beam. It was i terrible fall. I was in the middle of my best trick. (what the girl at the beginning of the video did) and i lost grip.. i cracked my tailbone, and tore all my muscles from the elbow up. i was forced to quit, but now im going back in January to try again.

i'm a gymnast and watching these videos just shows how much effort and hard work gymnasts put in to their training i train 5 days a week and the training is complex so people shouldn't think gym is easy as it looks because it aint !!1
i'm a gymnast. i'm told not to watch these types of videos, but i watch them to show me what could happen to me. i train 48 hours a week. some people think gymnastics is easy. trust me its a whole other level from anything else.

i have a knee injure just like one of those girls, it may not sound too bad but it is. i am a dancer and i have hurt my knee a couple of times now, it's painful, sometimes i have to stay off school because i can't walk but i will never give up dance. and i feel very sorry for all of them. i hope that they atleast enjoyed what they did. :'(

About Mukhina is not true, she death then she was 44, but injury was when she was 20 years and she lived 24 years with this injury. was living at home rather than in hospital.

Gymnasts that amazing, who have dedicated their whole life to their dream don't deserve to have it ripped away. That judge shouldnt have told her to lose wieght. If she needed to loose wieght she wouldnt have got so far. ;(

The sport doesn't need to have life threatening difficulty!!!!! They should focus more on the beauty of the sport and less on insane difficulty! That's what causes these terrible accidents!
@123nastialiukin I'm talking about the blind vaults that break necks,etc are you performing those skills? Only about 10% TOPS of girls in the world can perform these skills, if you ARE at that level, I will say a prayer for you! And best of luck! I was at the top of the difficulty levels in '84, and I think that was a relatively "safe" level, even in the '90's. it's just recently I find the difficulty level to be so high that it distracts from the beauty of the sport! Lucy Wener (Look her up) who I lived/trained with, also MADE the Olympic team, then was injured between the Olympics and Trials! There are sooo many stories like that.....I hope that judge can live with what she did telling a fragile young gymnast that she needed to lose weight!!!!! I also lived with a girl with anorexia, a life threatening disease!!! I love the music & video, but some of the girls, the first one who collapsed & the one with liver problems, etc can't be blamed on gymnastics.
I grew up with Kristie Phillips since she was 4, who actually made alternate after 2 years of being #1!! It is a brutal sport, but it shouldn't discourage young gymnasts, I trained as a Elite gymnast with a 3 time Olympic coach (I lived with Kristie them) & I only broke my finger in years of training. If you are properly conditioned & have a good coach, only a freak accident could hurt seriously, & it would be at the insane level of difficulty required today that is to blame!

I've gone from watching CoD montages to Minecraft inventions to origami and paper craft to puzzles to optical illusions to... evidently a tribute to unfortunate young gymnasts. Do you see what Youtube does to me? DO YOU?! I've been on this for SIX HOURS. Wonder where I'll end up next... By the looks of the related videos, I'd wager either more sports bloopers or a trampoline stunt, then maybe some crazy basketball shots.
The first girl looked like she has missed a whole lot of meals, and doesnt drink enough fluids. She looks starved, seriously. Im surprised she had energy to leap around like she was.
Firstly the 12 year old looked anorexic to me. Secondly, as a NASCAR fan, lemme tell you all something. Car drivers are not athletes. These "Little Girls" are frigging ATHLETES!!!! And I hope that the Judge can't eat or sleep.
@BEXWITHAM You shouldn't be worried at all. They took their career to the extremes and it nearly killed them or it has. There are risks in whatever sport you compete in. Just remember if you aren't 100 percent comfortable doing a stunt or if you don't know exactly how to do it speak up.
I don't have to imagine I worked most my life and was training hard for Sydney ignoring any injuries but I ignored the wrong one and it ended my career. I still cry about it sometimes. I fractured my back didn't know it which has now turned into a deformity of 3 of my vertebrae I tried non-surgical nothing has worked. I now require 4 rods and 3 cages, almost all of the discs are bulging or dessicated some near bone on bone. gymnastics is extremely hard on the body be prepared to get injured.

Gymnasts that amazing, who have dedicated their whole life to their dream don't deserve to have it ripped away. That judge shouldnt have told her to lose wieght. If she needed to loose wieght she wouldnt have got so far. ;(

The sport doesn't need to have life threatening difficulty!!!!! They should focus more on the beauty of the sport and less on insane difficulty! That's what causes these terrible accidents!

@123nastialiukin I'm talking about the blind vaults that break necks,etc are you performing those skills? Only about 10% TOPS of girls in the world can perform these skills, if you ARE at that level, I will say a prayer for you! And best of luck! I was at the top of the difficulty levels in '84, and I think that was a relatively "safe" level, even in the '90's. it's just recently I find the difficulty level to be so high that it distracts from the beauty of the sport! Lucy Wener (Look her up) who I lived/trained with, also MADE the Olympic team, then was injured between the Olympics and Trials! There are sooo many stories like that.....I hope that judge can live with what she did telling a fragile young gymnast that she needed to lose weight!!!!! I also lived with a girl with anorexia, a life threatening disease!!! I love the music & video, but some of the girls, the first one who collapsed & the one with liver problems, etc can't be blamed on gymnastics.

I grew up with Kristie Phillips since she was 4, who actually made alternate after 2 years of being #1!! It is a brutal sport, but it shouldn't discourage young gymnasts, I trained as a Elite gymnast with a 3 time Olympic coach (I lived with Kristie them) & I only broke my finger in years of training. If you are properly conditioned & have a good coach, only a freak accident could hurt seriously, & it would be at the insane level of difficulty required today that is to blame!

I've gone from watching CoD montages to Minecraft inventions to origami and paper craft to puzzles to optical illusions to... evidently a tribute to unfortunate young gymnasts. Do you see what Youtube does to me? DO YOU?! I've been on this for SIX HOURS. Wonder where I'll end up next... By the looks of the related videos, I'd wager either more sports bloopers or a trampoline stunt, then maybe some crazy basketball shots.

The first girl looked like she has missed a whole lot of meals, and doesnt drink enough fluids. She looks starved, seriously. Im surprised she had energy to leap around like she was.

@BEXWITHAM You shouldn't be worried at all. They took their career to the extremes and it nearly killed them or it has. There are risks in whatever sport you compete in. Just remember if you aren't 100 percent comfortable doing a stunt or if you don't know exactly how to do it speak up.

I don't have to imagine I worked most my life and was training hard for Sydney ignoring any injuries but I ignored the wrong one and it ended my career. I still cry about it sometimes. I fractured my back didn't know it which has now turned into a deformity of 3 of my vertebrae I tried non-surgical nothing has worked. I now require 4 rods and 3 cages, almost all of the discs are bulging or dessicated some near bone on bone. gymnastics is extremely hard on the body be prepared to get injured.

This is the best gymnastic video that I have ever seen. The music is great...the picts...wow. I have watched it a gazillion times & I still want to watch it more. My heart hurts for every gal (& their families) depicted. So sad. But, they have blesed us all with the message of hope, will, & determination.
