Just Superb!!! He played The Blue Moon Club in cheltenham UK, in early 67. They still talk about it today! The cat was just a force of nature! Born in the USa, made in Britain! Love ya Jimi!
You obviously had a great Dad and have great memories. Where did you plug in your reel-to-reel? I was living in Baltimore at the time - didn't see this concert. I usually bought $4.50 seats, a good distance from the stage. You could get LPs for $3.99 on sale. 45 rpms about 69 cents. Nice poster. Sun review was a nice touch too. Thanks for posting the nostalgic poster.
It was a portable battery operated reel to reel. I think it was a Panasonic RQ-1565 or similar model. I remember it had a proprietary microphone with an off on recording switch, but unfortunately the cord was faulty and it would sometimes turn off and back on again when recording. Also, interesting that back then seats for someone like Hendrix cost the same as the cost of a record.
There's a short movie from this show on this webpage, Hendrix plays Hey Joe at the Baltimore concert and the crowd explodes in applause, a kind of dreamy swing to it:

It's one of my favorite live shows, Jimi is high energy concentration and creative improv all the way through.
