That celica was a gts cuz no gt could keep up like that also i have an 02 maxima auto and i ripped a 02 celica gts with new flywheel,intake,exhuast, and wheels, and i only had a injen cold air intake. He got a great start everytime but at 70 i was right behind him and at 100 he was way behind. 04maxse got a manual 04 with 265 he won as soon as they hit 50 mph these races aren't a 6 second race. front wheel drive will lose of the start but will kick in.
you should race my corolla xrs, I know its gonna be a different story, I race my friends maxima v6 and I always take him on top end, there's something wrong with this celica, it should have been backwards, you should have jumped start and then the celica would pass you on top end
@tonguixrs so your saying that a 4 cylinder 190hp car should be able to get a 6 cylinder car with 255 hp with no problem at all... I have another fried who has a GTS with alot of mods and he keeps up with me... they are fast lil cars, dont get me wrong but you need to research what maxima's are capable of before you start to open up your mouth. Its equipped with a 3.5 v6 (vq35) just like 350z and G35....maybe you raced an older one (3.0)
I own an 04 maxima and the race should have been closer than that. The bad thing about the gts is that you have to have an almost perfect driver to maximize its potential. Put a shithead like that guy in the car and you can see from the video that he can't shift to save his life and is probably shifting at 6500 rpm.
I know the sound of a GT-S, i've owned one since 2000 (thats 9 years), and that celica is not a GT-S. Sorry to disapoint but its a GT. Could be a GT-S with the lift messed up. Whichever it is, you can clearly listen and hear the lack of the second cam kicking in. its very loud and hard to miss hearing

Not debating on the outcome, good run but that celica driver needs to know how to shift that gts, he also starts below peak power of the VVTLI... It's like vtec. If ur not there... Might as well call it quits especially when your against a torgue spitting VQ! Either way good race! ^.^

04 Max has around 220IBS torque at the wheels its not a corvette man! My wife and I have one, it is fun to drive buy its a family car and built for the 40 something age group. You should go get a 350z much more fun to drive.

@hasib223 You can't just compare HP to HP. My Celica eats up Maxima's and I've got around 240 HP. The Maxima is a family sedan and weighs a lot more. Just because it has 25 more HP doesnt mean its going to win. A Dodge Charger R/T could just barely keep up w me and those have over 350. His boat weighs nearly double me. Your theory has been debunked.

ok 04maxse, I saved you some time and looked up factory specs for both a Celica GTS(not GT) and 04 Maxima SE. Ok, are you ready! Yes a maxima is going to have more HP and TQ but is about as heavy as a tank(not literally but you get the point)from the factory your maxima has a 0-60 time of 6.95(which is good) but a Celica GTS is 6.6 sec 0-60. 1/4 mile Maxima 15.4 secs at 93.8mph the Celica 1/4 is 15.1 at 93.2 mph. Very close all around.
I own a 04 Maxima and a 00 Celica gts. The Celica GTS is much more fun to drive, its lightweight and a high rpm engine. I am just trying to say that in no way that is a gts or the driver does not know what he is doing. Go out and race a Lotus Elise, it is a lot more lighter and it has the same engine as the Celica GTS(1.8L VVTLI Toyota/Yamaha engine)
LOL!!! Um that is not a Celica GTS. First off no GTS badge on it or either the Celica driver does not know how to drive!!! cause he never hit the 6000 rpm lift which brings the car alive and rev limits at 8300 rpm.
