  • he is now at octogon mma dallas. ^_^

  • That's such a better way to get a triangle in rather than forcing one arm in and the other out. Thanks a lot!

  • I want the blonde chick to triangle me

  • i use the way he teach's the triangle and now im tappin people left and right. insane

  • I like this guy he seems verrrry patient

  • Good video, lots of good tips on an old triangle setup . I will point out that Unified MMA rules dont allow knee to the head of a downed opponent which Ari would be in the situation he shows.

  • Great vid. Even if this fails, you are in a safe position. Worst case, they pass to side control or slip the head out while the foot is on the hip. I think they would be hard pressed to escape though.

  • i wished i had subtitles for that last explenation of the video

  • I love this technique.

  • FANTASTIC TEACHING!!!

  • YES!

    THIS IS BADASS!

    Love this dude!

  • accent is hilarious

  • location?

  • Unusal seeing you without talking :P

  • Excellent point explaining the amount of pressure to apply once the choke is in. I know a lot of people who try to finish it quickly and just flex as soon as they lock it up. If the person who is caught in it knows that you're using 100% of your energy to finish the choke, he will try to be patient and wait for you to start to get tired, and then escape when less pressure is being applied. If they're smart enough, that is.

  • Who is the chick?

  • great teaching

  • I like this, its like the pyramid but with double wrist control as opposed to the overhook, nice.

  • nice

  • The other guy looks so pissed off

  • Great words from Ocatvio about slowly applying the preasure when you got the Triangle locked in. i once had a guy in a triangle choke and i wanted to finish him quickly. so, i applied the preasure all at once. Bad move on my part, my legs got tired and i was forced to let go of the hold. so he ended up in half guard pounding my face in and evantullay chocked me out.

  • this guy is Brazilian, I could understand the accent.

  • @MauricioMoves Yathink?

  • girl on left is hot :P

  • @snaggypaggy ii kept getting distracted by her && have to watch the video a few times to see the technique.. haha!

  • well said

  • it's a great technique.

the hardest part is part is winning the grip battle given that this is no gi.

i'm not saying it doesn't work because i know it will.

i'm just saying that wrist control in no gi is not like sleeve control with the gi.

just like the spider guard is impractical to use in no gi situations because your technique relies solely on sleeve control.

double wrist control in no gi, is advisable for guys with insane grips. but either way it is not energy efficient.

  • @Donpaeng As a 10th Planet teacher, I understand what you are saying but I have to say there is a lot of really valid points he is making. Octavio isn't super strong but his set up and 'feel' with double wrist control is great. This theory is much different than "breaking the person down" as the rubber guard does.

  • @Submissions101

    totally understand you.

blackbelts are just another level when it comes to execution.

even from the basic triangle set up.

i'm really not bashing on the technique you post, i'm an avid fan.

i'm just saying that this was a GI technique translated in NO GI.

and wouldn't work as well but works nonetheless.

    cheers.

  • @Submissions101 He was showing how to block with his entire arm which is very strong from that direction not just a clamp down wrist control. It was not based on grip strength it was based on leverage and body position. Like BJJ is supposed to be :) Awesome video.

  • @Donpaeng : try not to misunderstand this. Octavio is equally versed in the no gi game and if you do some research, you will find that he's won and placed in many top no-gi tournaments. That said, it is true that he's a proponent of the gi as a foundation for bjj.

  • 1 person got submitted by this method.

  • @Dr8co1 yes he did! You probably know this already, but Octavio was right there in the corner.

  • Excellent video, a lot of the times I create space the same way and this looks like a good addition for a finish :)

  • ... Santino?

  • great job like it

  • i love how he compairs it to short distance sprinting and a long distance race.

  • wow he's a Yodan already, he was a Sandan on your last previous video of him which were he was sparring you Ari. Octavio's a great guy and instructor has lots to teach!

  • @chavamma He was well on his way last time he visited us. He got his black belt in 1996 ;-) This video was taken in summer of 2010 ;-)

  • @Submissions101 Yeah, I also cant help but notice He's gained a bit of wieght, good to see Octavio instructing great experience he has so filled with ground knowledge.

  • I love his theory about effort increase.

  • absolutely beautiful

  • that guy in the background on the right side looks like Kris McCray

  • very nice. the open guard is my preference.

  • wow dude that serious high level shit

  • lol

  • very interesting very cool

  • I didn't know Zohan taught Jits. J/k great vid man

  • @Bigant55 yes, he does. don't mess with him. lol

  • beautiful
