@Tokyomk1 There's also many hints beforehand that they may be related, since throughout theres always been a joke theme that Negi keeps falling asleep in Asuka's bed since he's used to sleeping with his older sister, and Asuka looks, and acording to Negi, smells the same way as his sister, enough that he keeps habitually making the same mistake of going in the same bed as her, as such its not so surprising that they might be related.

@Tokyomk1 Well, It's confirmed that Asuna is a direct descendant from the Vesperatia royal family line. It's also confirmed that Negi's mother is also a descendant from the same royal family. Also, in the flashback, when Nagi and gang first meet Negi's mother, after her introduction, Rakan asks Nagi specifically "Wouldn't that make her a certain other lil princess's big sister?", referring to Asuna.

I've read the manga (awesome btw) and I don't recall it mentioning Asuna being related to Arika at all. She's just tagged along with her and that she herself is a princess. But she could be a princess of something else.

A lot of people say she's Negi's aunt, but until the manga itself says something, I'm not gonna say anything.

The scene where they mentioned Asuna is Arika's sister is where they first met Arika I think. But then, the alternate theory I guess would be that Asuna and Arika are cousins except extremely close comparative to Negi and Nekane. Hence, they call each other sisters.

In the manga (which you should really check out if you haven't seen it yet) the latest story arc has been revealing many things that have been hinted at since the beginning of the series. One of these is Asuna's relation to Negi, and she may be his aunt because she's apparently the little sister of Negi's real mother Arika. We only know that Asuna's very important to Arika, but I still think it's possible that she's not related to Arika by blood, and therefore not Negi's blood relative aunt.
