In Matt 5:19 you know that Jesus is talking about His commandments that He is about to announce, right? He's not talking about going back to Mosaic law, but His commandments that He announces from vs 21 onwards, about murder, adultery, etc...
@b1LL1eMc Right on.I see you have the wisdom of God, let us warn our brethren of FALLING from grace into the law of Moses. Christ came to fulfill all that the law and the prophets said about him & what he was going to do.Also when he says "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven" it is talking about the commandments which he was about to teach two verses later, not law of moses. CONTEXT IS KEY
What you should have learned is what is fulfilled by Messiah and what is not. The Commandments stand and cannot be fulfilled by Messiah... God Bless! The best thing is to start reading the bible from the beginning with the understanding that all of it is for you!
Still I have a problem with your semantic tension of the verb "fulfill"; as soon as you reference Paul's letters you establish replacement philosophy, where in Matthew 5:17++ Yeshua wants to express, that there is no replacement of the LAW and not in parts!
Each teaching instances I consulted tells something different. So is it up to me to compose my own religion?
who told you that? Yeshua means "he will save" First of all, there is proof of His name in Greek because the gospels and letters were in Greek. What his real name is - is only opinion. So this is yours. So don't get so hung up on the name and think you have the answer. Looks like you just couldn't get past the "name" to understand the video since there was no other comment on the content.
you have a simplified gospel that takes away the whole part that Messiah and the apostles read - the Old Testement scriptures or as Messiah put it, the Law, the writings and the psalms. He made another commandment, he didn't throw the others away! That is why Christianity is lawless and nothing like Jesus and the apostles. Do you even know what sin is? What did you repent from? exactly?
Shalom! Yes, ordinances, statutes, etc.. are commandments and yes laws....Now the statutes in the Levitical priesthood would be fulfilled; however, not commandments to the people such as in Lev 18 and 19... does that make sense? God Bless and thank you for the questions.
I'm curious what laws and commandments Abraham was given/kept? Also, I noticed that the verbage in Gen 26:5 EXCLUDES "judgments".
(ABRAHAM)
Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge(H4931), my commandments(H4687), my statutes(H2708), and my laws(H8451).
(ISRAEL)
Deu 11:1 Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge(H4931), and his statutes(H2708), and his judgments, and his commandments(H4687), always.
Shalom ricoman73. We do not know exactly what commandments that Abraham had; however, we do know that he had them and kept them as is written. Very good question. There are some things we can only speculate, and I would rather not guess such as the judgements in Abrahams time. God has always had commandments..... 4th commandment says Remember! God Bless

Now, what have I learned from this
"to fulfill" and "to replace" are equivalents.
Now reading Matthew 5:17ff again I understand nothing.
Obviously I'm not yet so far, need someone to help my ignorance ...

Thanks Carrie-Anne for your reponse!
> reading the bible from the beginning
Of course, the second run will be in Hebrew.

All things where fulfilled in Christ.
So the new law is to love your neighbor as yourself! Who is ME? ME is Jesus, God's Love made flesh!

so do we tithe and do we keep the feasts?
mrpeowpeow 3 years ago
I think it's worth mentioning that unclean meats were defined LONG BEFORE Sinai(Gen 7)
Animal sacrifices(to God)were in effect LONG BEFORE also(Gen 4:4,Gen 8:20,Gen 31:54,Gen 46:1,etc...)
Tithing too.....(Gen 14:20)
and of course, the Sabbath(Gen 2:1-3)
Some people view the Mt. Sinai covenant as the beginning of all these laws and therefore think they only apply to the Israelites of old.

What is the difference between 'charge', 'commandments', 'statutes', and 'laws'? Are commandments not laws? Are statutes not laws? etc.????

Were judgments unique to Israel?
