Most modern snowboards have a nose and tail that are identically shaped so you may have an alpine board or something else. That said, for regular, the left foot is at the nose.
It depends, i'm sure it's not an alpine one. There are "twin tip" boards, that have a nose and tail that are identically shaped, mostly for freestyle. There are also directional boards, that are not symetrical, inserts are moved backwards. For freeride, backcountry etc.
Correct me if i'm wrong. Of course there more differences and board types, but these two are the most common (freestyle and freeride or twin tip and directional)
Decent video for the skating part but J turns are best done without upper body rotation. Proper stance is essential and is not explained here. This is a great video but anyone snowboarding for the first time ought to take at least one lesson from a professional instructor.

Nose means front.. so if your left foot goes forward then left is to the nose. Problemo solved.

Must be the wider one, since your lead foot is your control, you want the most shaped edge in front.
