It is still unequal, but it is far less so. In the third world they are still worse off than we in the 1st world. But, on average EVERY nation on earth has better average pay, life expectancy and quality of life than they did 200 years ago

Huge numbers of people die on waiting lists. Doctors kill people and get away with it. The poor are worst off, because the hospitals in poor areas get stolen from, overrun with injuries, doctors are underpaid and leave.

@yelloyo People in the US literally go to town-hall meetings with their representatives and beg (on knees, and all) for them to at least provide a public insurance option, because so many people die from not having insurance to cover treatment for their conditions. But republicans are able to get away with murder with their massive funding from private insurance lobbying. Prior to 1965, it was only somewhat worse, which is why we created medicare and medicaid in the first place.

More people were turned away from hospitals after medicare was introduced, because medicare pushed the prices of healthcare up. I know about a doctor who was paid 3.85$ an hour in 1961.

Medicare didn't drive prices up, it was private insurance companies that put profitability before the health of patients. If health is not a business then there is no incentives to fix people other than one of the weakest motivators which is for the "common good". It is still unequal, but it is far less so. In the third world they are still worse off than we in the 1st world. But, on average EVERY nation on earth has better average pay, life expectancy and quality of life than they did 200 years ago

Huge numbers of people die on waiting lists. Doctors kill people and get away with it. The poor are worst off, because the hospitals in poor areas get stolen from, overrun with injuries, doctors are underpaid and leave.

So someone is lying, and you don't make yourself look too good. Maybe you're unaware, but it's a commonplace occurrence for Americans without insurance to die when they face a (most time preventable) illness or abnormality that turns fatal. Thank goodness we have medicare so that our elderly don't have to worry about this.

@yelloyo People in the US literally go to town-hall meetings with their representatives and beg (on knees, and all) for them to at least provide a public insurance option, because so many people die from not having insurance to cover treatment for their conditions. But republicans are able to get away with murder with their massive funding from private insurance lobbying. Prior to 1965, it was only somewhat worse, which is why we created medicare and medicaid in the first place.

More people were turned away from hospitals after medicare was introduced, because medicare pushed the prices of healthcare up. I know about a doctor who was paid 3.85$ an hour in 1961.

Medicare didn't drive prices up, it was private insurance companies that put profitability before the health of patients. When healthcare is a business, then it's the profits that come first, not the health. Because if everyone's healthy, then there's no business.

@squirell1952 We have no death penalty and the highest prison sentence possible to get is 21 years, still we have the lowest crime/murder rate in the whole world. Instead of "wiping our asses" with the lower classes as you say then the Government give everyone a welfare average of 50.000$ a year, and if someone has a bad sickness the government will give you a specialized car or 2 week vacation (each year). We also have paid vacations and a minimum wage of 70.000$ each year. Socialism is good...

Socialism/communism worked for Sweden. It worked before Stalin and after Stalin in Russia. It totally failed for Cambodia. China doesn't count. It's making wonders for South America. It messed up North Korea. It made Cuba a more awesome place to be at. What I'm trying to say is that Socialism/Communism with competent leaders works great.

@kuhj278 - If you EDUCATE the working classes, you get educated people.. But you also get EDUCATED crilminals. And those are very dangerous people. Jail sentences should be very, very harsh. That said, even with free education, the poorer people won't avail of it. Honestly, they're afraid of ending up on the big, posh house on the hill. They would feel out of place. @JasonDamisch Socialism worked for Sweden, Cuba and South America and is working for China atm. It fucked up Russia during the Stalin year and also fucked up Cambodia. Extreme right wing politics fucked up Germany, Italy, Brazil/Argentina and the US.
