this may be a dumb question but how do you qualify for nationals...i know this is world but isn't it the same but for people under 18. I am just starting to show breed shows cause i dont just like doing the open shows. How many points would you need to qualify?
Nationals in the Appaloosa Breed is not a version of Worlds for younger people. The is Regular Appaloosa Worlds.. held in November for adults to compete in but people under 18 can show in some events... then in July there is a Youth Worlds/ and Nationals. Youth worlds is a World Show strictly for 18 & under and National is just a big show competition with no qualification. Youth Worlds does not need to qualify only Regular Worlds and each class reguires certain points.
I've never had the opportunity and frankly I wouldn't want to... where we would travel and the weather conditions. There a regional Appaloosa show held the same weekend in my area so I compete there instead. This is my last year as youth, so I'm waiting for the opportunity to show at the main Appaloosa Worlds in Texas. My sister got the opportunity on my horse, soon it should be my turn :-)
okay sorry to leave another comment..but that sorrel appy jokersbluespook is talking about really shouldnt be there was there AGAIN this year at the 2008 worlds! I remember sitting there watching it thinking why is that horse here? they must be trying for something unrealistic. it wasnt even good in EQ. weird. ha i wonder if it will be at the 2009 ones too! anyway...sorry if that was mean. but i thought it was kinda odd.
haha this is jokersbluespook..( i got a new account like my screen name?) ya i cant believe they wer there AGAIN!! Didnt they realize that after they didnt do so great the year b4 that they wer in over their heads??
i really dont understand them! i dont think i'm going to world this year so i wont know, but i just find it so odd! i mean i can understand if you want to try to do better, but get a new horse! my pasture appy could beat him! i'm not going to world and my new horse is already a world champion. goodness; people(: but i guess if they want to spend their money and support our breed, good for them!(:
You have to get so many points at smaller showes, if you get enough you can go the the world show. Im not sure how many you need to go to the appy show, I show in AQHA shows, but its all about the same.
I love Appys. I ride POAs now, so whenever we go to 4-H/Open Shows and it's me with a spotted pony and a bunch solid quarter horses, I always miss the color from POA shows.
Your horse is sooo pretty :) I love appys i grew up on them and been riding them for twelve years at hope lock farm they do the app circut saddly im to poor for that lol. again beautiful horse
This is awesome! What a pretty mover! (:

You don't have to Qualify to go to Youth Worlds, you just have to be of age to compete, be able to pay the fees and truck your horse there.
