It's down to 20 buildings participating now. I don't know what alternate universe you all went to where Hong Kong was clean and filled with friendly people, but I wish I could have gone to that one.
I enjoyed absolutely everything about Hong Kong. It's extrelemly clean and well organized, very exciting, people are friendly and helpful, buildings are magnificient, breathtaking views, great shopping, lots of culture, good food, reasonable prices..... it simply excels at all levels!!
good job! This video is the best work I have ever seen! Thanks for uploading, I am gonna introduce this to my foreign friends.
P.S. I didn't know they do fireworks every night? and Can you please upload a snapshot of the Hong Kong Island side of the last few seconds of the video? That is amazing and a beautiful picture! Thanks!
This show was the icing on the cake for me at the end of a great tour of China. HK is a amazing city. its clean, classy, easy to navigate, excellent public services and the people are very friendly. A home away from home for UK people. It far surpassed my expectations and I will definetly be going back.
1. What happens in the summer months when it is not dark by 8 do they push the start time back?
2. Do they place restrictions on aircraft coming in during this as I noticed some planes follow the route of the water when coming in to land and surely they do not do that when this is on!?
and 3. What is the name of that underground shopping area near the space museum subway? You get back up onto the road and you would never know it was there underneath you!
1. It is always at 8pm. And in summer, it will always be dark by 8pm, so no worries.
2. Planes don't fly over there when land, however, they do during takeoff sometimes (depending where the aircraft is going). However, by the time the plane reaches that area, the plane is already well-above the buildings. But I believe small aircrafts and helicopters aren't allowed during that time.
i watched it from the avenue of stars where many night photographers try to make money by taking pictures of tourists, certainly the best vantage point ;)
Thank you for sharing this unique fasinating attraction every evening at 8PM. I could hardly leave my hotel suite at Intercontinental hotel with this daily view. I was there 12 to 17th of May reasently
Ok I just came back from Hong Kong like yesterday. The Symphony Lights weren't as good as what this video has shown. There were no fireworks as shown, and the broadcast was in cantonese and it was quite hazy, pretty much boring stuff! I would have give this place a miss!
The fireworks are only on special holidays. The audio simply announced the buildings. I cut that out to make the video fit utube. Clubad2000 said the rest.
It'd be silly to put on fireworks at the same time. The 2 different sets of lights would interfere with each other and you'd see nothing. Goes to show some people just don't know what they're asking for....
i actually just bumped into the show accidentally during my short visit to hong kong in 2006. i was completely amazed. i wondered how sad it would have felt if i missed the show.....
Awesome!!! I miss watching the show every night from my old apartment... from 8:00pm to 8:13pm... maybe someday I'll watch it from TST... nice vid... you uploaded this video 11 days before that really bad flood
it was soooo cool seeing that live!! it was awesome! i don't think any recording could match the magic of watching it while you're there!! but it's still awesome to see it through this though!
What I really like about this vid is that you actually get to see what's going on on the Kowloon side! I've watched it obviously from TST but never actually seen the show from on the Island side, very nice, there's more going on there than I thought!
They need to make each "fang" or spire to change colors.
YOU FORGOT!
The Tin Tsau bridge(Or something) puts on a light show too!
I don't understand. I always go Hong Kong. But we live in the poor side of Hong Kong. We never go to the Central District, Hong Kong! I better teach my parents something about what is "Hong Kong!"
The music is played in public at the waterfront at the convention center on the island side, and between star ferry and the avenue of the stars on the Kowloon side.
u really dont wanna actually live in Hong Kong, i agree the light show is amazing but.... still Hong Kong isnt that great i've live there i havent moved once ive been there my whole life.
Well, Get out there at 8PM and watch it. We can see the Hopewell center, and when it starts the show, I say to Mrs. Kitty, "It's Eight O'clock,The Symphony Just Started". I have now filmed the show 60 times. I noticed the Hopewell center doing its part last night 8-8-08 during the Olympic opening ceremony, so I guarantee you the show is still going.
A typhoon came through on 22 Aug 2008. They did not run the Symphony last night. I learned that they do not run the Symphony if the storm level is a signal 3 or above. Otherwise you can expect to see it every night.

Hey mate what a great job you did!
I really respect the effort you made to create such a fabulous clip!
I used to live in Guangzhou for 4 yrs and whenever I needed a little bit of "civilization" *grin* I went to HK for the weekend :-)
Your clip touches my heart and I still miss HK (and also mainland China) a lot.
To see this makes me happy and also a little nostalgic.
Thanks!
By the way @VelocityRXB when there is a hurrycane or heavily rainfall there wont be a show that night either

HK is near the equator. There is no much change to the length of the day there. It gets dark around 7:30 in the summer.

I do not know of any airline restrictions. I filmed a helicopter fly above one, and below the other, operating lasers one night.
Space museum: Tsim Sha Tsui I think

The broadcast language depends on the day. They alternate between English, Cantonese and Mandarin on different (set) days.
