Regarding musical taste...I realize it's "to each his own"...I get that...so I say the following partly "tongue in cheek". I am just trying to think of a proper penalty for the one person who disliked this presentation as of this comment posting...is "four years in the electric chair too harsh?".........let's see now...perhaps that person would prefer being locked in a room for six months having to listen to "Surfin' Bird" by the Trashmen 24/7...most folks take "the chair"!
I wish YouTube would place the dislike button a little further away from the sound control button. The person could have been really enjoying it and tried to turn the sound up and clicked the dislike button by mistake.
I enjoy all the superlatives you use for Chet - so well deserved and enthusiastic. I enjoy seeing others choose an artist as their hero -Doug, you have chosen Chet as I have chosen Ray Conniff. Artists who master their instruments as Chet did are my heroes, too. Chuck
Thank you Daffydoug. I appreciate this posting very much. It is beautiful. So great just as all of Chet's music is, but just special in a certain way.....You do us a great service when you post these great pieces. Best regards.
BTW, this arrangement is historically significant in that it was the first time cascading harmonics were used on modern 6 string. Lenny Breau heard this recording and built a completely new style around it, adding pull-offs and using scales built on cascading harmonics to improvise over jazz progressions.
Anyone doubting Chet's technical prowess need only listen to the super fast but silky smooth runs in this song. Wow.
yep

Was this song made after he met Lenny Breau or before?
shadowknight132 1 year ago
@shadowknight132 This album "Pickin My Way" came out maybe in 1971? Don't know if Chet had met Lenny Breau by then.

@CribNotes
I was just seeing if Lenny Breau showed Chet harp harmonics.

It's one of the greatest Chet ever did. Roger Hardin has done a lovely version of this, I'm sure Chet would agree.

After listening to so much great stuff from Chet - I think this recording sticks in my mind as the most immortal.
Not just the beautiful technical execution of the piece, but the incredible creativity behind it.

6StringPassion,
I don't think anyone in the known universe ever doubted the technical prowess of Mr. Guitar.
Chet was one of the true masters of the guitar and inspired every other artist that I admire.
