This is a very underrated car and offers a lot for the money. The suspension is all aluminum and the drive shaft to the rear is an $8000 carbon fiber unit. That's pretty exotic for a sedan and such equipment in a German car would bump price to 6 figures minimum.

Depreciation is horrible on these cars which is great news for people in the market. The 06ish cars can be had for the low $20Ks.. A STEAL...less than a new 4 cyl Accord!

Acura needs to do something about fuel economy, its seriously lagging. I like the RL and want one eventually, but come on now, I don't understand why Honda has such good fuel economy and Acura doesn't.

I wish Honda would one day make a compact DOHC V12 engine that made 500hp and has a fuel economy rating of 30 mpg city and 35 mpg hwy and stick it in an Accord sedan or coupe that has a car weight of 3000 lbs.

This car is high for what it offers. I would much rather get its younger brother the the TLS fully loaded and even a Cadillac CTS I would choose over this car any day the CTS is a lot more exciting and prettier

I'm a Honda nut ! but i just cant understand Honda (ACURA)with this car ,its nice but the price! IS TO HIGH !any smart person will compare the TL, fully loaded same size and faster, and cheaper price, if i had the choice ill get the TL, instead over the RL, they need to scrap, the RL , or totally redo it .because they are probably loosing a lot of money on it.

This car is a joke, last time i saw one was like 6 months ago and I live in a very affluent area, they just arent popular, Ive seen tons of BMW 5 series, Infiniti M's, Audi A6, Lexus GS & Mercedes Benz E-class but finding this car on the roads is like an easter egg hunt. I mean im not saying its hideous but it will take me 100 years just to consider this over a BMW , Infiniti, lexus, Audi or MB. They need to step up thier game if they want to play in the Luxury Market, the RL just doesnt cut it.

who will pay 54 grand for an Acura when you can get a mercedes E-class for $6-7 k cheaper. This is overkill. But i gotta give it to them, the RL is a brilliant car, and infinitely better looking than its younger sibling the 2009 TL, which is the deformed child in the family

Try looking for a similarly equipped 2010 E-350 for 54,000... you're looking at closer to 60 for the MB.

@KonkaniAmche i know i'm six months later, konkani, but you get more value for your money with the acura. the mercedes would be STRICTLY for someone who has to have a mercedes name. mercedes benz has in recent years (since about 2003) not been the most reliable car on the planet. acura, one could argue, has been. why pay $6-7 more for a less reliable car? that's called "bad money management".

This is much better than the new TL SH-AWD. About the same amount of space but smaller outside, way nicer interior, less insane looks.

TL might handle better but some light work should make them about the same.

Acura is the best. My 1998 RL I drove it to 213000 miles, sold to a friend 2 years ago and he is still driving it with no problem. My 540 i 2002 engine is damaged at 88000 miles after going through a little puddle of water at a very low speed. Insurance has totaled it. Now I call BMW the ULTIMATE FAILING MACHINE.

RL has more luxury ride sport enough .

Also BMW does not beat Honda in the real race track .

My Fav. Acura RL years are the 05-08, the 09 looks ugly. 05-08 looks very sporty and also, like the design of the headlights better in the 05. This car for $54K? nah, not for me, I'll go for some other car. again car looks ugly.

Not a very competitive car for $54K! Going up against BMW 5 series, Mercedes E class and Lexus ES and GS 350 series. Audi A6 too!

Seem under power at 300HP and a lot of hassles built in to the car itself!

It makes reasonable sense compared to some others for similar money. A base 46K RL compares favorably to a much less well-equipped A6 3.2 (FWD only this year) or 525i.

But there are also favorable competitors: the Volvo S80 T6, M35, GS350, and even the MKS EcoBoost.

REALLY hope Honda offers a V-8 in the next RL. Or a twin-turbo/supercharged V-6 would work. The wheelbase is too short, too.

The RL = like the TL but with an extremely awesome luxury feel. The seats have the extremely nice leather of the MDX, and it's really smooth. :) But...wtf @ its gas mileage. And wtf @ at the roof of the back seats. I have absolutely no problem with this but every single other person in my family does when we're at the Acura dealer

i prefered teh older tl 2005 version. and the 2003 version felt even more luxurious. but thats all going to change now. new RL in 2011 will be a v8 and totally sporty.
