Very good. What about iodine though? I went to the dentist with my wife and the dentist dabbed her mouth ulcer with iodine. It was dramatically improved only a day later and completely gone in three days.

shes right about the reason for mouth ulcers is stress and not enough vitamins but theirs more to it! Like not enough water-liquid in the body so your mouth gets dried, drinking to much soft drinks, poisonous mosquito,bitting and grinding teeth will hit the gum

I feel sorry for myself and for anyone else who suffers from persistent mouth ulcers. The problem has greatly affected my life as it has caused considerable difficulty in talking and eating. Socialising is not enjoyable; even enjoying a meal has been made almost impossible. Hot, rough or acidic food significantly reduces what I can comfortably eat.

@steel5w Eating once meal is causing you to be nutritionally deficient and a pH imbalance in your mouth. You must eat complete meals and maintain oral health to keep the pH and bacteria in check inside your mouth. Rinse your mouth out after meals or after drinking any juices. I also suggest buying a waterpik like device that hooks to your faucet. Google, Floss It Jet, or the QuickBreeze Oral Irrigator. Use it to remove the bacteria hiding in your gums. They too are causing the imbalance.

i get ulcers when i am run down and after i have been ill i hate it but theres not much i can do i have tried everything and i am really used to the pain of the ulcer and the pain of putting salt on it and gargling salt water and mouthwash and using bonjela and by the way dont even waste your time with bonjela its rubbish my ulcers are really hurting and i get 1 about every fortnight :(

There is like, this type of ulcer treatment with cotton buds :)

I used it tonight, I have four mouth ulcers at the moment, two of which are holes behind my lip.

You dab the cotton bud, which has a purple liquid on it, onto the effected area, and it will sting like hell but your ulcer will turn white and stop hurting, before going away :)

It's really, really good.

Did exactly the same thing... I get these quite often, once or twice every 2-3 months.

Here's how I get rid of them:

I gargle Listerine in the morning and evening after brushing the teeth (The mouthwash has to come in contact with the wound, it stings but you get used to it)

I try not to get too much food on the wound,

And I carefully avoid accidents like biting it etc...

...it usually goes away after 1-2 weeks.

Not sure if it works for everyone but you can try

i got 3 or 4 ulcers a month, i went to the doctor who sent me to a specialist at the dental hospital. She ran a patch test on me a found out that i was allergic to cinnamon and E numbers 210-219. Ive avoided all foods with these ingredients in them and have now found that i only get about 1 ulcer every few months, which is a large improvement.

I think the salt helps a lot. I had a cut on my mouth from my braces and after a few days it became white. After I put salt directly on the cut the white part disappeared completely after the first few minutes, leaving only the wound . I'm guessing the white parts was bacteria.

Although she stated that you go see a dentist for chronic cases, it should still be stated that in chronic cases, it's likely you have an autoimmune disease. I get mouth ulcers about once a month and they go away in a few days. It's caused by Crohn's disease in my case.

Another cause of persistent ulcers is Thrush, a yeast infection. I started getting thrush alot when i turned 20~ at first doctors thought it was AIDS, leukemia, etc. racked up hefty bills doing bloodwork for every disease known to man. ended up it was just a yeast infection. Pretty much destroyed my teeth in the last 5 years too, which sucks. :(

if u have braces and have problems with ulcers or cuts in your mouth, brush ur teeth daily.. try to stay away from so much sugary stuff.. *drinks,candy,etc* if u have a cut or ulcer in your mouth.. salt helps but putting tooth paste on the wound also helps..keep it on there.. and spit it out once it dissolves. I know it works. also try using wax they're stabbing but have it fixed at your ortho.

Chocolate is the WORST thing to eat when you have an ulcer. It hurts and it makes them so much worse. I keep having ulcers, about four or five a month. Had a few recently that just won't respond to gels or those chemicals that burn them off and eventually gets to the size of a 5p piece. Obviously by this point I can't eat, sleep, drink, smile or even talk. Corsodyl mouthwash seems to help though
