This show took my breath away! it's fantastic if you have the chance to see it i strongly recommend it! Ruthie is as stunning as ever in it! I will most certainly be back as many times as i can to see it!! loved it :D! Jade.xx
I agree it's not as great as Les mis, Miss Saigon or Martin Guerre, but Shoenburg didn't write the music only contributed to the story. Still, she was great to give her her due, and as someonoe who was too young to see her as Ellen or Fantine, it was fab to hear her sing this kind of score. It was a good show, only the other B&S are GREAT shows, we expect too much, perhaps?
oh, well i guess it's a persons taste, and i can tell you there WAS a standing obation on opening night, and i think it was just abit..............fabulous, and ruthie was phenomenal, i would not agree with that comment, accept for the fact that you said ruthie is terrific, which she always is :P
I'm sorry to be a grinch and dissent from the other postings but having seen it yesterday, I think it is the weakest of Boublil and Schoenberg's works.IMHO none of the company songs are a patch on the show stoppers from Les Mis or Miss Saigon. Yes Ruthie is terrific but you won't come out desperate to buy a soundtrack. The audience warmly applauded but there was no standing ovation and at times an awkward silence between numbers. I won't be recommending it to friends...
This is such a beautiful song with magical lyrics, it's even better on the stage though. I urge everyone to go and see this musical, it truly is a work of art, with and outstanding performance from Ruthie Henshall.
It was utterly amazing. It's a very dark musical, but all the performances are of such a high calibur. I believe that this show has redefined the meaning of showstopper, in this show its the acting which creates the showstoppers, time and time again.
Well it sounds amazing. As sad as this may sound, Ruthie is my reason for seeing this as I have admired her for many years, but now it sounds like the show will be amazing aswell. Great cast too!

Chilit, I think if you do want to see it , don't gamble on it having an extended run. Before anyone accuses me of being horrible, I saw Woman in White and Bombay Dreams and thought they would not get long runs. Nothing against Ruthie -this hasn't got the commercial appeal of Les Mis..
