It might say Gracie Barra.. but I saw Prof Renato Tavares' Patch!! ha
good god, im liking how everyone is hatin on the brabo choke.. yep. i can tell with their expertise in jits and mma we have alot of pro fighters.. ha "What would stop me from punching you in the face?" answer? you cant punch me cause your too busy tapping!!
sup people, hey i have a couple of question. i have been watching MMA for a little while now and i love it but why the BJJ fighters wrap there legs around someone when the person is "in there guard"? i would think that gives the person a comfy spot to ground and pound. an how come she is wearing a pink GI? dose she just like pink or in girls BJJ dose pink mean something?
in BJJ holding someone in guard is effective when you want to set up moves. In MMA you do expose yourself to GNP, but if your guard is really good you can break your opponent's posture and set up submissions.
For defensive purposes, the guard allows you to keep the majority of your opponent's weight off of you, and decreases the amount of leverage they have with their strikes. Although guard doesn't always stop all GNP, you see what happens when under mount or side control, much worse. The guard also allows you the opportunity for some offense from bottom, whether it be sweeps or submissions.
im not an expert in bjj...but i have a lil experience and training in it...and really the guard may look conffy but really the only person in danger is the one trapped around the legs...you could get chocked or armbar...swept....specially if they are flexible...you're in trouble
the hold is really good and it seems very effective. but the set up... looks hard to sell. I'm an amateur when it comes to jujitsu but I do practice it. what is the best way to sell the move?
I agree, yur2much. i love these videos, but i don't like this particular choke. certainly not as a first option. there are several other chokes i'd try first here, but good job nonetheless.
@Rich0008 Well, actually, you'd be surprised by how effective these type of chokes are, mainly because no one thinks they'll be caught by something that "they can see coming". My most effective sub is actually one like this but from top side control.
this is something i really can enjoy!

@TAEKWON21 But for MMA, being IN someone's guard, is oftend the most dominant position..

dear lord, why does this world have so many perves,
but anyways nice choke
but i like to keep my chin down when i get close to being choked, so would this still work?
paintball201212 2 years ago
Kinda complicated move. Easier to grab the R and L collars and cross them over. More manageable choke out.
Scray1 2 years ago
Seems a little over complicated. Much different than another collar choke I've seen and done.

would be interesting to see how this translates into with more modern clothing. (shirt or jacket)
jaskey 2 years ago
@jaskey So long as it is a light weight jacket (unzipped, of course) the moves work. the looser fit of the jacket the easier it is.
That was one of the first things I checked out.
