  • Ive had since around 2005/2006 it works great but it is getting kinda worn out so im going to buy the nikon d5100 in a few months! :)))

  • i will get when i graduate 4th year i'm excited...

  • very good demonstration and explanation.

  • eeep getting it for christmas(:

  • Ohh me to,so excited;))

  • SAME! :D

  • I got it...yesterday...it's awsome..:D:D:Dthanks for all...

  • Ohmygod! I'm so excited! I'm getting it for Christmas, I can't wait!

  • I have to graduate with a 4.0 GPA to get it

  • chalachalachala ... can't understand

  • I'm going to buy a D40 with the 18-200mm VR lens hopefully within a month or so! Then later on I will probably invest in a D90 when the price has gone down......

  • you can get one for $550 at Best buy this friday. D40 with the 18-200mm VR lens, Case & DVD. I'm getting mine :D

  • Wow! Thanks for the tip! I'll check that out.....

  • Nice introduction, all info! Great

  • нихуя не понятно.

  • ok ok. what do you think moving from a compact(dslr size and body) like fuji 6500fd to this very attractive nikon d40, here in spain it is for 290euros and i have been all the day thinking in buying it or not. i know it is a great machine.cool and nice. but in your opinions guys, will i see significant changes or differences between my camera and the d40?

  • should i bye this camera

  • no, go for a nikon d60 or canon xs.

  • Why whats the difference between them both?

  • not much, the xs is cheaper, and canon is well known for their rebel line of cameras

  • wtf?? this is a great camera

  • WHAT?

  • can someone help me what model to buy. Im planning to buy one. but i get confused on what to buy. should i get the less expensive d40 or would i go for much higher d80. i went through a lot of sites and they all recommend the d80 for beginners. why?

  • If your getting your first intro to dslr's I would get the D40.

  • hey am 15 and dont no much about photography only the basics iso shuter speed ect.. am wondering if i should get a nikon d60 or pay lees for a d40 ?? i want to learn alot !!!

  • I know alot about cameras and have both a d60 a nd d40. Ihonestly do not feel anny diffrens in the 2. buy the d40.

  • buy a d80 body only and get the 18-200 VR

  • thats alot of money. the 18-200 is a rip off. Get a sigma 18-200 OS. its alot cheaper and has less distortion

  • but sigma lenses are cheap, nikon are pro lenses and much sharper

  • For a beginner i think you should go for the d40.

  • Nekem is iylenem lesz :D Jehh

  • hi do you know of anywhere that i could find decent studio lighting for under £100

  • I want one so bad!! But friggin 500 bucks?!

  • 632.71 actully, that's how much I spent

  • Fuckin' hell! 600?

    ... I still want one.

  • The D40 currently sells for $499.99 retail.

    D40X, probably 600$ at least.

  • is that in AUS dollars?

  • no canadian

  • Wow. You must've been desperate, lol.

There's a local camera store who sold it for 550. It include the standard lens, plus the 88-200 mm lens, two dvds on photogrpahy and a bag. And that was a nikon package.

  • there is know 88-200 lens

  • Correction 55-200 mm lens.

Still doesn't change the fact that you were RIPPED off

  • your forgetting tax and a memory card. it's ok cause that's my backup camera, i have a d3 with 400 f2.8, 70-200 f2.8 and a 24-70 f2.8 and a 12-24 f4

  • haha you got ripppedd offf. i found one on the internet for 360 brand new with the lense kit and a year warrenty WITH free shipping. suckss

  • good for you. I got a FREE tripod, case, battery grip and a sb-800 just for buying it at that store. Plus a 4 YEAR WARRANTY. So i don't think i got ripped off

  • ya i know

  • The Nikon D40 is awesome. I got it shortly after moving to Hong Kong, and have no complaints. It's a wonderful camera.

  • if i had the money D:

  • get the camera dude

  • i cant deside on if im gonna get a D40 or a dirt bike. i only got enough $ for one

  • and I can't decide if I want a D40 or pro upgrading my PC :/

  • get the camera

  • Dude. Get the dirtbike. You can always find a cooler dslr, like the D70s, for much cheaper and it has better features plus you can use all the lenses nikon makes (unlike the D40). And if you dont like the dirtbike? then trade it for a dslr. Lots of photo-jockeys like me will be more than willing to trade a camera for a dirtbike!

  • with the d40you can still use all of the old lenses you just have to do it manualy wich is just twisting the lens on them

  • What? Really? Never mind then, disregard my comment as a dribbling psych-ward patient whos only love is for his cement fish which I wear as shoes.

  • I prefer D40 over D80, because of the size. Who wants to carry around a black concrete block?

  • I do.. lol. Each cam serves their purpose. Just think of it as a concrete block will do a better job at knocking someone unconscious than a a plastic block...

  • It doesn't matter what DSLR camera you have, really. Everything depends on who is behind the camera ^^

  • yep... a cam is just a tool, it makes your work easier but you are the limitation on how good the picture will be...

  • dont get a D40 get a D80

  • I'll get what everthefuck I want. Period.

  • Great review! submitted to our review website.

    digicams(dot)com

  • Got mine a week ago, I love it! So fun and easy to use.

  • very good review and engilish subtitles help

  • That was a nice introduction!

  • No! This is a great thing over canon's. You can change the memory card while powered on!

  • it takes less than a second to power it back up

  • For a camera expert, that was fooish of him to leave the power on whie he removed the memory card.

    No,no,no >.<

  • Thats only if it is writing to the card (light on, Bozo)

  • No,you should NEVER remove a card from any camera when the Powers still on,regardless if it's writing data or not.

  • Quoted for truth. It is very clearly written in the manual, NOT EVER to remove the parts that the presentator did do.

  • I like this Nikon D40.
