  • do u have to use tha Rane soundcard to make serato scratch live work or can u use any sound card? someone plz help!

  • Do not send any money for any sound equipment to sales-overwholesale website in China, this whole website is a SCAM , As soon as they recieve your money they would stop communicating with you. Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Pin Wang in China and anyone associated with that website should contact the police, Rane and I immediately.

  • just starting out i have the numark ndx 800 cann serato work with the ndx 800 , hunt7077

  • *And the Stanton.SMX311 mixer? :P

  • What hardware do I need for this???

  • ummm How Much does this Package Cost & where can i get it from ??

  • 2 questions.

    1. Is the setup basically the same process/hookups with Traktor Scratch Pro as far as hardware goes.

    2. Can this be done with a Stanton SMX-201 Mixer?

  • No Help What So Ever

  • is that sl 1

  • @HalfDeadDreamer Yes it is SL-1

  • is there a way to listen to the music with out external speakers on a macbook? I have the numark m2 mixer and the numark ndx 800s

  • What brand are the turntables???

  • @trav13so214 Technics Sl-1200s

  • Thanks for taking the time to put this together mate. It was straight forward and helpful.

  • If you notice, in this video he hooks up the line outputs to the mixer. I dont think thats necessary because he is only using two turntables. If he was using CDJ's then he would use the line inputs. Maybe he hooked them up so that in the future if he wanted to plug in the CDJ's he would not have to make that connection. He would just unplug the 1200's, plug in the CDJ's and flip the "Line" switch on the mixer channels.

  • so will i need a sound card or no?

  • @youngkidist Yes you will need a sound card to run the sound into your computer for recording with or without a web cam. If you have an amplifier, you will need to run an RCA cable from the mixer output to the amp....just like you normally would. It's basically the exact same setup as a normal hook up but instead of running the turntables into the mixer you are running them into the Serato box first, THEN the mixer.

  • blame it on the rain

  • The new version of software its free?... please, answer me.

  • @Ekhymosis yes

  • arent you from agiprodj?

  • do u have to have the serato to do remixes with turntables please reply to dj_exclusive01@ymail.com

  • do you need a digital mixer? or will any do!

  • do you need a special mixer for this?

  • @dudedude8998 No really but if u Do want 2 use a special mixer you might want to use Rane Mixers it works PERFECT WITH THE SOFTWARE PLUS Rane the maker of Serato Scratch software came up with a new Mixer called Rane TT-57SL with scratch live I think you can search songs right on that mixer... Alot of DJS use the DJM 800 Pioneer Mixer which it has COOL Features like Trans,Flanger, Phaser, use when mixin songs!! but it all depends on what you want the mixer do for you..

  • @jrDJREMIX It works well, but if you have to service your mixer for any reason you will be out of a SL1 and a mixer.

  • Do you get the package after you install the software or something? Or do you have to buy it?

  • Can you please make a video on how to hook up multiple active subwoofers and pa speakers to your mixer? I have 2 subs and 4 pa's and I can't figure it out

  • @dancingmachine01 To hook up a sub to a pa you need a sepret amp and a crossover or one crown xti amp and ur good to go

  • @DJJASONPRODUCER there all active speakers though, that still mean i need a amp or crossover?

  • @dancingmachine01 what are the dame of ur speakers and the model of the sub?

  • xtr-400 powered speaker system, my friend got it and when his new mixer gets here we arent sure how to hook it up and if we need a crossover or what

  • can i use serato with juse the serato box without plugging it into my mixer so that i can just play around with it when im in school without my turntables?

  • Comment removed

  • how i can loops in my piooner

  • will this work with two numark TT200 turntables and a normal mixer?? PLZ anwser!!

  • can dis sarato hook up to a twin cd player mixer like martahon dcm 2000

  • damn expensive

  • fuckin' retardedly expensive!

  • people in wales wouldn't be able to use those turntables with out an EU to UK adaptor :p

  • What if I scratch "hamster" style????

  • Do you have to use that exact same "Brain Box" for it to work?

  • My owners manual was for Deuch >.< is it still good idea for read it, since I dont understand it?

  • WILL SERATO SCRATCH LIVE WORK WITH THE NUMARK NS7?? PLZZ ANSWER AND GET BACK TO ME

  • @78ozz28 yeaa

  • will Two Direct Drive Numark TT200 Turntables work with SSL?

  • I just bought SL3 and i have hooked it all up and it seems to be somewhat working, but i am getting VERY distorted sound through my computer speakers with barley any volume on my mixer or speakers. Its very crunchy.

NOW to connect turntables to SL3 it requires a ground wire. But I am using Stanton STR8 turntables which have a built in ground in the power cable. so there is no way for me to ground the turntable to the SL3 box.

I am wondering if thats the problem and if so, how to fix it.

  • On your Scratch Live, after you close the program and re-open, do your playlists ever get shuffled or mixed up? My only guess is that I have a lot of my music on a portable hard-drive that hooks up to the laptop, so whenever that gets unplugged, it can't calculate where in the tracklist it's supposed to go. Any suggestions?

  • Will serato scratch live work with ANY mixer? i have a cheap behringer mixer without a usb connection. will that work???

  • i fell asleep watching this.

  • how would i hook up serato to my home theater system

    idk what to plug in

  • do i have to use the rane hardware that comes with the whole pack? or can i use another for it?

  • nice vid

  • I mean SL3!!!!

  • SL 1 or SL2?

  • hi! i got a lot of questions since its my 1st time buying turntables :D I've seen some turntables that do not need to be hook up to a soundcard or a computer and some like the one you showed that can be hook up to a PC.which one is the so famous USB turntable? what are the names of the differenr types of turntables? and which one should i ask for when buying having in mind that im planning to use my PC with Virtual DJ.. now i know i need a serato scratch live soundcard..but which should i buy?

  • Is there any product that does the same thing as the serato scratch live but for less money?

  • Thanks bro

  • What is the an interface for?

  • Is the sound card required or can you use other soundcards, like from Denon?

And,if you're playing on CDJs,isn't the timecoded CD enough?

  • don't be offended, but those are RCA chinch ...a jack is a 3,5mm or a 5mm connector... ;)

  • Hello, what is the solution for Hardware Discconested, please.

I bought the Rane SL1 but it said Hard Disconnected on my computer.

    How can i connect it?

  • 2 questions..

first after everything is connected can i still play normal records?

2nd can irun the audio outs from the mixer back into a audio interface say (digi rack 003) to record live cuts in pro tools..

  • "i don't even use the mic function on Serato so i'm not even gonna hook that up"....yay your instructional vid is pretty good but why completely blow off that part of the instructional. maybe think about the people that might wanna use it huh...lol im just playin tho ahhh lonnnnng night of mixing haha....oh wait i just watched the rest of it and it turns out your a ra-tard because you talk about mixing up red and white like a thousand times and then you actuallly do it wtf

  • "i don't even use the mic function on Serato so i'm not even gonna hook that up"....yay your instructional vid is pretty good but why completely blow off that part of the instructional. maybe think about the people that might wanna use it huh...lol im just playin tho ahhh lonnnnng night of mixing haha

  • Why is this guy so fucking rough with everything. Throwing everything around like crap. Idiot

  • i have a behringer djx700, with a pair of pioneer cdj1000. can i use these with the serato. or does the mixer needs changing?

  • i think i got it guys i jus have one question. do i need the internet on the labtop

  • Does Serato Scratch Live work on all Mixer and Turntables? Or do i need special matters?

  • the most part of mixers and turnables

  • but how do you connect the turntables?

  • is the same thing, you need a mixer.

  • do i need a power supply sl1

  • ive gotta question for u guys ? serato or traktor ? on mac :)

  • serato is better with mac or is the same if i use a pc.. many people on forums say that is more stable on mac , thats true ??

  • mac is a more stable platform period, although technically the software should run the same.

If I were playing out, I wouldn't use a windows/microsoft os laptop, it would have to be a mac hands down.

  • Turntables from Wales ? Im from Wales and I have SL1200's.. lol, fantastic decks.

  • white with white, red with red... thanks. i think i had it before the first time...

  • i got a question!

where do you plug the speaker using serato?

from mixer to speakers? or serato to speakers?

i got active (power) speakers with RCA input

    please help

  • mixer- speakers

  • he actually told u in the video

  • Does the Serato box get hot during normal operation?

  • whats a good cheap mixer with a digital fader that works well with serato.

  • hey i went on the serato website and they have something called SL1 and SL 3. Is that this product?

  • Yes...SL 1 is the older version, SL 3 is the newer product. SL 3 has a few new features including higher bitrate support and faster USB...but the SL1 is more than fine for any pro Dj.

  • To many fuckin cables!

  • well, once you have watched this vid often enough it will be crystall clear to you,

  • I WANT TO BUY ONE(((((((

  • brian please tell me What The Ground Cable Does ???

  • what i know is that it removes the humming noisee i hope that helps

  • Grounds the electricity current. The turntable is made of mostly metal, and you dont want any free electricity flowing through the turntables...especially the turntable arm. Grounding removes this free current.

  • cocksucker

  • I am a novice who does not want to spend a ton of money. What device can I buy to display the two turntables?

  • Atomix Virtual DJ

  • What mixer was u using

  • um, can you just use any USB audio interface that will send RCA cables to your mixer?? ex Gigaport HD

  • Technics 1200's + serato = win?

  • Good dj+Serato=Win..

  • Will i not get sound if i just leave out the red and white wires u z u need for sound and just put the usb into my computer and use my computer sterio

  • What countrys in Europe use two pin plugs?

  • The thru outputs are so you can play regular vinyl. Just flip the phono/line switch to phono and it picks up whatever vinyl you may have on the turntable(wont pick up off your cpu). Flip back to line and use the control record to play off the cpu.

  • You sir, are beautiful! Thx so much for the video. I don't know WTF I was having a hard time understanding this concept. But thx!

  • wanker

  • hi again.... i ran out of characters :o)

The other two inputs (referred to as 'thru' in your demo) that go to the phono inputs would not serve any purpose??? (and presumably just play the tone?).

Also, am I correct in thinking that if you wish to record a mix then this needs to be done as an analogue recording because the PC/black box is not fed back the DJ's mix output (i.e. the finished product output from the mixer?).

    thanks again...

    Andy

  • Brian,

Hi. Thanks for posting this video. I'm thinking of converting all my old house vinyls to mp3 and getting this set up.

Thinking about how this works, do you know why the black box has to connect up to the phono inputs as well as the line inputs?

As far as I can figure out, while using this set up, the only inputs needed at the mixer are the two audio signals (e.g. mp3s) sourced from the PC, which correspond to each of the 2 turntables?

    Thanks,

    Andy

  • Hey : )

I'm trying to hook up serato with a 4 channel denon mixer dnx1100

I was trying to follow your instructions for the Thru and Line RCA cables but LINE1/PHONO 1 are the same holes with a LN/PH switch. Then it goes to LINE 2

I'm uncertain where to plug in for Line 1 as per your instructions. It seems there should be 4 holes for each line.

    Let me know

    thanks for the awesome videos

  • ''ive got some one over in wales who would love to have these'' AHAHA

  • i seen a sl 1 interface whats the deal with that? 2009 model?

  • the usb cord comes with serato right?

  • cant find track on my left deck....

    sometimes

the song slow down and the sound goes bad

like radio when u search a channel--

    need help

  • you cud be my step dad ill be cool with it lol

  • hey Brian, how good is this for a battle turntablist dj? I mean I heard some stories about delays and such.

noob question: would it work with any mixer? (I'm getting a vestax pmc-05).

    Thank you

  • do you have to have internet access in order to use your serato. could i do a gig outside where there is no wireless internet around? please explain.

  • you dont need internet

  • how much is the serato pkg that you have and where can i get it besides online...thnx

  • could I use Serato with cdj200?

  • Im pretty sure you can use serato with any cd decks with the time encoded vinyl.

All the deck does is play the time encoded sound (like a beep) into the serato interface.

  • Im thinking of investing in this but as all of my tunes are on vinyl I have a question - Is it possible to play "real" vinyl alongside the timecoded vinyl?

    Cheers

  • Yup, that's why there are 2 sets of inputs per deck. One for regular records and one for time coded. the AUX or LINE on each channel would be for time coded and the PHONO would be for your record collection

  • this video show be callled hook up for dummies ..wich is good cause thats wht i need ..lol

  • would you only use this Rane Serato Scratch Live if you wanted to do some scratching? or could you use it just to mix and put some beats together? is ther somethin better for mixing songs together? cos i dont want to waste ma money if im gonna use it for the wrong purpose

  • It's not going to mix for you. That's where you tallents as a DJ come in, but yeah you can scratch or mix or do whatever you could do with regular vinyl.

  • how would i hook it up in to my dj spearek system

  • What type of turntables work best with sarato

  • Any.

  • where can i buy those shit ?

  • take a look at my video on the "video response of this video " j22391313" If anyone can help me i'd appreciate it alot thanks!

  • hey whats going on!

i tryed doing the same thing with the audiosource and connecting "RCA" cable and headphone jack into my laptop speakes so i can hear it through my computer but no sound! I need help!!!

If anyone can help me it i'd appreciate it alot! Please take a look at my video if you can!! Thankkss!!!

  • Heey people.

    i have a question.

1 will serato only work with the ssl box in a timecode setup or can i also use a maya 44 soundcard with my turntables

2 at the moment I don't have anything connected and i can see only 1 horizontal waveform, how can i set it 2 show 2 waveforms in a vertical position?

  • yeah as long as it has imputs you should be fine. The only mixers SSL won't work with are thoes all in one mixer with the CD player built in with no imputs

  • lucky i wanted that box i got the new ssl box everything works fine but it just paint from cover different

  • HELLO DJ"S respect to all of yah...

I have a questions for all of you

i have virtual dj but no usb interface or timecoded vinyl...my Q? is can i use any usb interface for virtual dj... and any timecoded vinyl please answer...

i scratch but with regular vinyl records

such as dj rectangle and qberts vinyl...

    so yeah thanks....everyone please help

  • Virtual dj can be hooked up to virtually any USB soundcard and also it will work with all normal dj mixers.

for a cheap example(my case) it works just fine with the maya 44 USb soundcard, a standart pair of turntables with timecoded vinyl's and a numark 5000FX mixer

  • I wonder, how much did this whole set cost? And is it good for a beginning DJ?

  • well in AUS it over a thousand dollars and I guess it would be good to start out with cause ya wont have to run to the store to get ya vinyls and just use your music off computer lol just yeah cost a fair bit, well in AUS it does, don't know about other countries

  • How will can it work with CDJ1000?

  • Although Serato LIVE has been updated since this was made, i can't tell you how much help you've been! Still have questions, but not as many as before i saw this "how to". Thanx, Cj

  • Can you use the M-Audio Conectiv instead of the, uh, "Rane box"?

  • only the Rane Box or the Rane 57 mixer lets you use Scratch Live.

  • can you not use this program with out the Rane box SL 1 do you have to have it

  • i have a little question.

can serato time coded vinyl's/cd's be used to control virtual dj or do i need specific virtual dj timecodes?

  • no they work with virtual DJ

  • why would you plug both the phono AND the LINE outputs on the ssl box into the mixer?

    why not use just phono?

what is the line good for in this situation?

  • to play regular cds or vinyl instead of serato control cds or vinyls

  • what are the thru outputs for?

  • i would love to get this but its so expensive

  • does the hercules rmx console work with serato scratch live?
