  • Unfunny!

  • He was a great guy. The media NEVER saw a character like this before and after.

    FIRST TROLL.

  • guy laughing at 4:50 is a riot.

  • Pharelly bros stole this for me myself and irene!!

  • LOL lettermen is very embarassed

  • One of the funniest things about this is seeing David Letterman with real hair. Dig that early 80s dry look helmet head! :)

  • After watching the movie 'man of the moon'. U can tell when he's serious and not. In this interview. Everything he's saying is the truth and yet, ppl r cracking up.

That's genius. I don't know any1 that can stand on stage and not do or say anthing and make a whole show out of it.

  • Kaufman said if he faked his own death, he would appear 20 yrs. later. 2004 was 20 yrs.

  • Couldn't @tamerswan. COULDN'T care less. If they could care less it means they care. And this is not what you're trying to say is it. Otherwise I agree totally.

  • I never found his humor funny, maybe if I was 6 year old I would ???

  • @maggie123456able why don't you suck on a thumb. I bet that you like Adam Sandler.

  • me, myself, and Irene. Could it be a reference? Jim Carey is a big fan.

  • @pussyStarter Dude, you're probably right. Plus Carey did play him in "Man On The Moon."

  • this made me smile.....

  • PURE GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! only the simple minded dont ''get it'' if anyone was successful getting into andys mind they would have a meltdown he brought the laugh when the laugh wasnt needed he brought the anger in ppl and left them wondering if it was real or not andys career was one long standing prank he even got ppl to sing at his own funeral while he lay dead?? in his coffin the joke was on the ppl at the funeral including zmuda

  • Did he take anything seriously, lol

  • @begood20000 Yes. His craft.

  • Andy was a legend :)

  • This is probably his last appearance on Letterman. That 11/17/83 appearance listed on IMDB is a mistake; it was actually 11/17/82.

  • @kolst8406 No, he was there on 11/17/83. He was there with his adopted kids again. Or my memory is playing tricks on me.

  • @AndyOnLetterman Maybe he did appear with his "sons" again (which would be hilarious), but there's no reason to believe it was on 11/17/83. If you link on to that date on imdb, there is a listing for Bob Zmuda as "Andy Kaufman's Butler," which is actually from the 11/17/82 clip - which you have posted. Also on 11/17/83, it used to list Andy Kaufman as "Singer - Ave Maria," (which, again, is really from 11/17/82), but they deleted that listing and now just list him as "himself."

  • @kolst8406 I'm not judging by IMDB at all, I don't know where you got that idea from. It's in some biographies as well as on the official Andy Kaufman homepage. I figure someone editing the IMDB pages fucked up somewhere and thought 11/17/83 was the one where he sang Rose Marie. But thanks for your comments. I still hope to find the missing appearances.

  • @AndyOnLetterman I sent an e-mail to the official website about 11/17/83. I asked them if they had any information on that appearance other than what imdb has. If they respond, I'll let you know what they said. It's interesting that their list matches imdb's; perhaps they supplied imdb with the information, or they simply copied what imdb already had listed.

  • @AndyOnLetterman I only saw a clip of his last appearence once on Trio. He brought a clip of "The Big Chill" with him because "I liked it."

  • @AndyOnLetterman In my experience imdb is spotty in correcting mistakes, even obvious ones. I think they stopped paying attention to my corrections because I corrected the age of an actress - she was about 10 years older than listed - then learned that they do not accept such corrections. The only thing I can surmise is that they are more interested in keeping their paying clientele happy - agents, managers, etc. - who subscribe to imdb.pro, than in always providing accurate information.

  • @AndyOnLetterman it was 11/17/82

  • @kolst8406 stfu CUNT

  • @kolst8406 im sorry that wasnt me.. that was my brother

  • he's got psychological problems i reckon..

  • @InFlamezzzzz Psychological perfection. He's a sort of superhuman of performance art.

  • @daltonalexander me too m8

  • i love kauffman hes awesome

  • Andy was fascinating on a lot of levels as was Brother Theodore, genius written all over them, yet somehow tragic.

  • Somebody done killed the sound. Its silent.

  • @SvenTviking It's on the right speaker, so annoying =|

  • its kinda funny cause hes full of shit, i think he believed half the bullshit he told peoploe.... like a pathological liar, owell, hes dead he had his glory days

  • he looks like kevin spacey

  • So this is the guy who started the trend of famous white people adopting black children.

  • LMAO at 4:50 laugh!! :D

George McFly is in the audience!

  • @yalamanderparade95 Thanks for the reply..

  • Well.....I see where they got the big black inner city kids and suburban white dad concept in "Me, myself, and Irene" from......

  • @MIKESOWELL I was wondering what movie that was again but indeed!! good point.

  • @MIKESOWELL thats exactly what i was thinking. i was reading the comments to see if anybody else beat me to it. well you did you suckernut.

  • Excuse me Mr. When does the entertainment start?

  • HAHAHA when he brings out those three black dudes. I love it!!

  • Kaufman had dissociative identity disorder aka "multiple personality disorder", a trait frequently taken advantage of in Hollywood/showbiz.

  • is this the real andy or his body double nate?

  • I was born on this very day, on this very year.

  • Man on the moon brought me here

  • was he 100% ? in all the movies i watched he always looks a little schizofrene psychose. like a double personality.

  • Crazy bastard....

  • a real artist

  • this was taped 1/26/84 and Andy died 5/16/84. His last TV appearance. Sad

  • I like how there isn't a punchline. Everybody expects a punchline because that transforms the tragedy into comedy. But...

  • LOL THATS GENIOUS

  • R.iP AnDy KaUfMaN.....

  • hahaha his life is just one weird joke

  • i laughed when he said he was gonna be a regular person now

  • He looks so crazy cute in this vid. His eyes, his eyes, his smile, his smile, my heart is melting^^

  • Awwe his hair is thinning

  • hi,question, september 22, 1983 after 8 month he died by cancer, thats possible? sorry for my english.

  • apparently yes.

  • Andy HACKman. Ll0ol0ol0ol0ol0ol0olAMIRITE?

  • I`m having a good time with myself.

  • 4:50 LMAO AT man laughing :P

  • 1:27

  • Credit to both these guys for keeping a straight face inspite of knowing what is coming. I'm not sure I could do it.

  • HAHA HIS KIDS LOL WTF

  • @sonic4sale I almost spit my food out

  • Zach is a descendent of this kind of humor...in a way.

  • Didn't Andy fake his death??

  • No. He's very dead. But his comedy lives on.

  • @AndyOnLetterman naw, he totally faked it, its the greatest prank ever pulled

  • @AndyOnLetterman corny.

  • @iHipHop You bet.

  • @AndyOnLetterman

No. He lives. Only people who believe can see him.

Oh, wait. No, that's fairies, I'm thinking of.

    Nevermind.

  • @AndyOnLetterman No, he's very alive.... I can't say he's well (he's ill at the moment), but he's certainly not dead.....

  • @AndyOnLetterman he isnt dead!

  • @AndyOnLetterman he faked faking is own death

  • yup

  • No. He always wanted to and thats why many believe he did actually fake it. He even said himself if he ever faked his death he would return a decade later. His family and close friends actually held a welcome party that decade later but he never showed. Andy Kauffman died of Lung Cancer May 16th, 1984.

  • Thanks for reply..

  • He said that a boy would wait ten years but a man would wait 20 years. Frankly, I think he's still out there alive somewhere.

  • @shadow1967000: lol. If anything, Andy faked faking his own death!

  • In thirty years.....what comedian will the next generation be looking up like you just looked up this one?

  • zach galifinakis, tracy morgan

  • Morgan's a fuckin' hobo

  • George Carlin?

  • Ground breaking... Imagine 30 years ago something like this?? haha,,,comeon... Genius...

  • Comment removed

  • he's so fucking personal. And the fact that you can't tell whether he's lying or not makes it such incredible entertainment.

  • He's dead butter.

  • Then I guess he is retired.

  • Is Kaufman retired now?

  • How old are you & where are you from?

  • 22. Norway.

  • Got it.

  • he died :( back in 1984 after being diagnosed with lung cancer !!

    poor man RIP

  • Hes a good man.

  • poor baby, rest in peace Andy, you are loved :)

p.s: I understand your comedy completely!!!!

  • he didn't die

  • Going on a TV show for saying we do nothing lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll THAT'S SO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • His last honest-to-goodness appearance on TV was on a show called, "The Top", in January 22, 1984.

His last-LAST appearance was at the opening of My Breakfast With Blassie in March 1984.

Not sure when his last Letterman appearance was...

  • His last Letterman appearance was on November 17th 1983.

  • I would love to see his last appearance in Letterman... thanks a lot if you can upload it!!

  • Me too, I would like to see the one where he goes on Letterman with his parents. I don't know if that's the same one or not.

  • No, that's a different one.

  • I read on Andy's website that he went there with his parent on January 7, 1983..would be great to see it as well..

  • Yo host, what's up dude..lol

  • This was probably Kaufman's last appearance on Letterman. His lung cancer was diagnosed in December, 1983.

  • No there is one more, it's from November 17th 1983.

  • Can you upload that one?

  • I will upload it once I find it.

  • that would be awesome, thanks man. I've always wondered what he did for that last appearance.

  • That entry on imdb is incorrect; the correct date is one year earlier, 11/17/82. It's already here on youtube (you might have posted it); it's the one where he dresses in a diaper, then sings "Rose Marie." I've submitted a correction to imdb.

  • He did appear there on the 17th of November 1983. He was with those kids again and that was the last time he was there due to his death in 1984.

  • I read on Wikipedia that Kaufman had a persistent cough by November, the result of his undiagnosed lung cancer. I'd like to see that clip.

  • i think he had one more appearance in november 83..in the clip where he sings rosemarie, it is mentioned that taxi is still running on NBC, so there's no way that could be his last appearance

  • Taxi was off the air before November 1983. That fact and several others in the clip prove that it was one year earlier; November 17, 1982.

  • Yes we already know that. See the date on that clip I already posted. However, he DID appear there in november 1983. I know that by absolute fact.

  • Well, you know it, and I know it, but TedMcGinley89 apparently did not. What's your reference for that November appearance? The only site I'm familiar with is IMDB. Is there a chance you'll find it and post it?

  • I have seen it and I should have it. I'm still looking for it. Once I have it, it'll be up.

  • no no no, i knew this wasn't his last appearance. I was correcting your claim that this was his last one before he became ill..at the start of this clip, david acknowledges that andy is the star of NBC's taxi. The show was cancelled in July 1983 and Andy made appearances in September (already uploaded, where it is acknowledged Taxi has been cancelled) and November of that year. Don't jump the gun.

  • sorry, i didn't realize i was posting on the september video...the point is, i know "rosemarie" was not his final show, nor this one. there's one more

  • Frequently imitated but never equaled much like his idol Elvis, they're BOTH one of a kind.

  • i dont live anywhere PMSL :X

    genius

  • whoa that was 2 days before i was born

  • You many find that many things happened a certain number of days before you were born. EG Barbara Eden was on the cover of TV Times on the 18th September 1983, which was 6 days before you were born.

  • It's strikes me often as a bit offensive that he seemed to never truly drop his irony when in front of a camera. One has to wonder if he was ever serious, in person or in private.

  • That's how he strikes some people.... That's why Andy's not for everybody. lol He's one of those people - either you're into it or you're not.

I'm not going to say you don't "get it"..... that's so pompous, and it's that's the stock answer fans use toward anyone who isn't crazy about him.

I'm sure people "get it".. they're just not into it.

  • I Love Andy!

  • To Orangeflava and anyone else curious about the "press conference" who DIDNT hear what happened, I'll tell you. NOTHING. Nothing important anyway. A bunch of goofs in masks with bad jokes tried to create the illusion that they had something to do with Andy. You can hear and see for yourself just by looking around on youtube at the various "press conference" vids,(They've got video AND audio from it). But I WOULD say that ONE important thing happened. We found out Stephen Maddox was a fraud.

  • i was so angry about that.

  • On November 9, Andy Kaufman will hold a press conference in New Jersey.

    For more details visit

    andykaufmanlives

  • What's gonna happen if he doesnt?

  • Oh, he will. You can bet your hat on it!

  • that still doesnt answer my question. Im sorry, I have my doubts, and I know you ar a cryptic person, but dude I am just curious, cause you were talking about making an appearnace on that Comic Relief show, then backing out towards the end. I would just like to know What is going to happen IF he doesnt? Please dont take this as me being rue, Im jsut a curious body

  • nope!

  • what happened to the conference?

  • This was 25 years ago today!!!

  • I Love Andy, his only problem is, you cant tell when he's being honest or if he's lieing

  • That's not a problem. That was the main point of his work. You must not be that big a fan to make a statement like that.

  • i understand that now, im not a fan, i am NOW getting into him, funny though!!

  • Cool. And, believe me. Before long, you WILL be a fan. Just browse the Kaufman library.

  • i will man, thanks, i think he's an original talent, not to mention a GREAT actor...if hes a good lier!! lol X D

  • Reminds me of 'me myself and irene' with the 3 sons
