Are you Khmer? because if you are,me too! My parents went through this,and they were only preteens/teens at the time. Luckily,most of my family survived.but both my grandfathers and uncle did not make it.:(

I am in the middle of reading it. It is very good. It is upseting and captiveating. Ido not feel sorry for the main charector because that would be pitty. I am envious of her. SHe was very young when she learend her life would be turned up side down. She was very inexperinced when she learned she would have to work to survive. And she was very weak when her family was seperated. It is a very good book. I cant wait to finish.
Great book. I got a $50 thousand scholarship from st. mikes for writing about this book. (she went there)
