  • I had my first root when this song was playing in my old XB falcon lol still remember it today many years on

  • Rockpile Jones is one of the best ever vocalists in this country and should've been recognised as so. If you haven't heard 'Stay (While the Night Is Young)' & 'Feels Like a Summer's Night', do yourself a favour ;)

  • This has brought back so many memories thank you :)

  • Duck tails, leather jackets, pony tails and bobby socks and, and........innocence.

  • Bloody marvelous stuff. Lets have more!

  • bloody terrific .

  • im 15 and keen to say, ol' 55 would have to be one of my most favourite bands to date. i even got frankie j's autograph. !

  • i am 63 from pittsburgh, pa. i just want to say that doo-wop is the best music ever. back then there was no black or white music. it was all great music!!!! the great times i had at the high school dances (WOW) how great it was. my first love the first time i held a girl in my arms!!! I would give anything to be back there again. long live the doo-wop sound. TOM BRANTNER SR. PITTS. PA.

  • this is the first time i've ever herd this song and i have completly fell in LOVE with it! why can't my generations music sound this good T_T

  • @divastarz325 imagine the tears that form in the corners of many a listeners eyes when they remember the years around when certain songs came out. this one is more special to me than most songs. i was 12 then. now 47 i guess im an oldie too... wow how time passes. days gone by, good friends lost (wipes a tear)... just glad we were all there at the time. now i kind of know what my dad feels.

  • Great song-Better sung than an American band would have one

  • Ol'55 Best Aussie band ever..anyone who saw them live would know what I mean..great memories..not much left these days, although I did see a band called Knock Knock Rattle do a cover of this and a few others recently, great live act, but no recordings that I know of.

  • Still love this song and the way you performed.

  • the very best version of this song

  • @502belinda Yes I like this version also but I especially like Kenny Vance and The Planotones version.

When I requested this song for "Saterday Night Live" 2ue, I requested Ol 55 version and sugested that when Pete Graham brings out his "Sat Nite LiveCD" that this could be a contender. Graham played this version and said it will be added to the list of possibilities.........Lets Hope.....

  • I'm 16 and my parents suggested listening to this considering my ipod is 3/4 older songs like Queen and ABBA. It's a good song, much better than the crap that my fellow peeps listen to.

  • My God, what has happened to music? If I could find a radio station that still played doo-wop and the TRUE classics, I'd never listen to anything put out today. Keep these oldies alive and deep within the heart.

  • @ronwhite27 ... hi Ron... it's not just doo-wop, there are so many songs of such beautiful innocence around this era that i could go on for some time. Look after yourself - Stars, Lying in the arms of mary, love and other bruises, girls on the avenue, only sixteen, im not in love, and then all the great pop songs. yep im lost in the 70's but lived it up in the 80's. i will upload more OL'55 real soon.

check out my favs and playlists for more 70's 80's.

    have fun

  • @ronwhite27 Download iTunes, Click Radio, then click Golden Oldies... My favorite station is Kluv 50s and 60s

  • AussieAvenger, I don't know if you remember me but we had a conversation about a year ago about these songs etc... I nostalgically remember when you proposed me to hear this masterpiece cover and it turned out to become one of my favourites from the 70s... So, me and my band decided to play it in a small concert of ours- priceless experience. Thank you brother.

  • I just love this song you posted, thank you for posting.

  • The scratchy record has character. No doubt it has been at a party or two.

I have spent a while looking for looking for an echo. Could not remember who did this version which I think is best.

Cheers from Latitude 25 Well you work it out

  • hi Lat25.. yeah sorry about the scrarches but my other copy is worse lol, and this is one of those 'k-tel' type pressings so i reckon its not bad for round 30yrs, 11yrs DJing, 3 states and 2 floods that wrecked a lot of covers. not this one!!! yay. its was in my collectors stuff. check out the cover. this is an autographed copy. i worked with OL'55 a few times but DJed with FJ quite a few times in the mid eighties. some of the best fun gigs i ever did. this song is timeless.

  • true classic , every ozzi should be proud of old 55......PJ Darwin NT

  • Yes, the single version is the better one. Sorry to hear that Rockpile Jones has nodules on his vocal cords and isn't singing much now...such a great voice.

  • Very Good!

  • Great to hear the "single" version instead of the Album version. THANKS for posting.

Where is Rockpile Jones these days I wonder?
