  • no safety glasses

  • what i do i feathered it out a little more....

  • good job but me personaly im not gonna tell u about the stirring cause well one u know it already from hundred's other but damm useing cardboard wow not good too many small particles on the cardboard better off the find a piece of sheet metal.... anyways good job on the video n enjoy ur car:)

  • just flip and spread the filler on your mixing surface to avoid air bubbles until thoroughly mixed nice vid other wise

  • youre not supposed to stir the bodyfiller because it creates air bubbles.

  • Alright and thank you for sharing this detail.. How would you do it then?

    Les

  • @bigblockmustang First of all, you use your spreader to mix the filler. You literally pull it a few times, shovel it up, flip it, and repeat till a uniform color. Stirring it creates air bubbles which translates to pinholes when you sand. High build primer might seal those up but it's best to avoid that problem in the first place.

  • @jimboach Cool make your own video.. Then post a response!

  • @sunnyshade123 shit who the hell told you that? You mix it up with hardner. If you get air bubbles in the filler its shity bondo.

  • Everything is learned from experience and watching. Even schools teach you by having you watch them and practicing.

    Thanks for the video!

  • loislane305:

  • the way i see it 67,200 people have learned how to do bad body work at home! keep these videos coming and i can stay in buisness!!!!

  • Stop being a hater. This is a great video. I learned how to change my oxygen sensors on youtube and saved myself $250.00.

Obviously not everyone is cut out to do this type of work, but if you are detailed and are good with your hands you can learn how to do this.

  • Christ,s sake, cut the guy some slack,he,s obviously ol' school and its good of him to try and educate us vegetables!

  • Hey Les,,,,,,Good little clip.....keep up the good work .....

  • Smear that on your computer screen so you don't teach people bad work!

  • la Butcher Boy!!

  • totally agree

  • hey verry helpfull..was that a DA sander? if so wht grit sandpaper did u use to sand down the paint and then the body filler?

  • It's much quicker if you baby the trigger. That way you can use your side cutters and twist off and re use studs.

  • good job, very helpful

  • Thank you for watching..

    Les

  • i think u sanded alittle of that black molding on ur left

  • I have a nice ass 2

  • excellent Les , in my 25 plus years experience in body work , i couldnt explain it better than you ,.. i personally use that tool at the shop , great for pulling dog legs and rockers out with an attatchment that allen keys to the "rivets" great work Les !!

  • Thank You! I'm not a real pro but want to maybe help out the guy in the garage needing a lil help..

Thanks so much for your comment!

    Les

  • what kind of sand paper do you use to get to bare metal?

  • He is that a Chicago tools stud welder?

  • WS275 from MAC Tools..

    Les

  • 80 grit will work.. Work one section at a time and what ever you do don't touch the bare metal with your hand.. or it will rust..

    Les

  • Thank you for the Video ..was very educative..

    Thanks once again ..

  • Your Welcome..

    Les

  • never use cardboard it weakens the filler and it even says so on the can use plastic or glass instead

  • I'll agree with you.. plastic or glass would be best..

  • cool tool are you kiding me, HACK oh my god if youve never done body work please dont listn to this guy.

  • wow this is a cool video man..i don't know how to do any of this.. but im going to give it a go on my car.. thanks for this video hope to see more and how do you fix small dings like from road stones, and how to you prepare your car if you want to change colours.. do you sand the whole car to bare metal then prime it up before taking it to the shop for the top coat?

  • When you sand the filler, should you be using a sanding block?

  • Well normally I add more Bondo then I need. I use the DA to take it down so it's close. Yes you can use a sanding block.. but it hard to do if your working on a curve surface..

    Thanks for that excellent question!

    Les

  • the bondo part were great. thankx for uploading.

  • good job on this video. I'll be posting a more old school drill holes type video soon. Why? because it's the tools I have available.

  • great video thanks alot

  • great tutorial! well presented. cheers

  • Nice stuff. Am going to do a whole load of stuff to my van. This really helped!

  • you should fold the filler when mixing, stirring it creates pinholes when dry.

after sanding with a BLOCK feather edge the paint with 80 grit on the da,than apply glazing putty to the entire area. sand with 80than 180 on a block than feather again with 180. otherwise great job

  • back yard fucked up shit,do you wave

    hi

    or good bye

  • Re: oldchevyw

Not sure how to take your comment? I checked your YT page and ya ain't got crap to support your comment.. If you know a better way then I suggest you add a vid and link it to my page.. Otherwise.. you know!

  • take it good, sometimes words don't match my thoughts when i had to many bud lites

  • I have that same D/A!! Is that a fox body T-Bird you're working on?

  • you should always use a block on sanding the body filler id its your first time doin this so you dont sand to low with the D.A sander to people watching this

  • thanx mate gr8 help.

  • A video like this showing how to fix rust holes would be really great!

  • thank's bud great help.

  • Thanks nice job good video what grit sandpaper did you use on bondo?

  • Re: mondobeyondo I used 60 or 80 grit

    Hope that helps!

    Les

  • very nice instruction and simple to follow ,thanks, my truk has been front end smacked with a curled hood ,shattered grill and embarassing to drive for more than a year till i got into a course. i re-aligned the fender geometry and decurled my hood ,i respect all instructors that i learn from ,video or otherwise .

  • Thnx man, I wanna know what kind of sandpaper do you need to sand the paint and filler down. Nice instructional video.

  • 60-80 grit

  • Re: g6u6s5

    Thank your for your support!

    Les

  • Thanks man!

  • great video! i was wondering about surface rust, do you just sand it down like how you did it in the beginning of the video? then do the same stuff? my car needs lots of work and i'm thinking about doing it myself.

  • thanx for sharing your knowledge

  • Thanks Wheat001 for the comment..

  • thank you.

  • No Worries.. You can PM if ya need more info!

    Les

  • nice video, very informative, one suggestion for the video maker, it might have been more helpful for people to tell them what grit of sandpaper to start out with, and then to finish. other than that, nice job, and how do you stay so calm doing it? i want to throw stuff and do alot of cussing when i screw up. haha,

  • Thanks for the kind words..

    Les

  • thanks very good video

  • Great video very useful

  • hey nice video thanks for the tips

  • This vid really helps me now.. I have a dent just like that in the fender of my car. You rock Les.

  • Re: ncffaboy Sweet! How soon can we expect a Mustang vid from you! Can't wait to see it!

    Les

  • Excellent video. I wish I had seen something similar when I first started working on my Triumph GT6. Would have saved me a lot of headache in taking care of minor dents. This is my first project, so my ability to do body work is limited. I'm really concerned about painting it correctly. Leaning toward Dark British Racing Green. It's being built into an electric car. I still need to learn how to weld too, as the floor boards are rusty.

  • Les, I'll have to agree with the other guy! Your video's can really sell and is very helpful! I know you mentioned that youre not that much of a body repair expert but I say it gave me an idea on what to look forward to. I do have scratches, dings, and dents that i'd wanna take care of. But im also facing rust issues as well. Ever thought of covering that topic???

  • Calibra's are cool cars! I found this link http://home-4.tiscali.nl/~t263188/ to have a better look at them..

    Les

  • Top video! I wish I'd seen something like this when I was repairing the arches on my Calibra. Really useful. :)

  • Les, Nice little video. This stuff could sell on real TV. I don't need to make a monster transformation or "pimP" mobile like the crap they got on TV now, but I might just try a small job like this considering I just backed into a pole in the parking lot the other day and dented my front fender in the same place. It's the painting part that I don't think I can do... and the hot glue pin thingie..but I think you can buy small kits for that can't you?

  • Hey RD,

Just wanted to share this one.. I had to fight the 10 min rule.. I went back and made it like 10:43 and it was allowed.. The new paint system is easy.. color match is the hardest part. I'll do that (paint my car) vid when I get there.

    Les

  • Sorry Guys/Gals.. I went over the 10 minute rule so I had to go bak and shorten the vid.. sux.. best I can do.. any questions pls ask!
