  • where did you get ur jacket?????

  • i dont get this video but you are sexy so hit me up(im a girl i aint no homsexual)

  • To sum up this video: The suburbs are boring really...

  • I wonder if you realize your hair looked WAYYYYYYYYY better this way... framed your face perfectly... lol

  • @burgerbun723 KINDA?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • I love Niptuck too! Pretty awesome show. haha. Yeah, boredom is a real problem, I face it a lot. lol

  • totally understand how you feel. spend most of my time in moscow and everytime i m back to my hometown, i feel so "out of place" and bored. got too used to the moscow rhythm of life and when i m back in my hometown, everything seems so slow. too slow.

  • I've lived in NYC a few years, and I can confirm that NYC gets really boring after a few years. Just not as fast as most cities. :P

  • I think NYC is overrated. Then again, I need space and warm weather. SoCal for the win.

  • @pooface5555 I don't care if this was 4 months ago, because it applies to today. I just want to say your user name makes perfect sense and you are a master at talking shit. At least you accept what you are and flaunt this fact with every comment you make.

  • I'm glad that you chose to go to school in NYC. I knew it would change your life. ;)

  • I love New York city sooo much

  • Omg... you make North Carolina sound so boring...I'm sure it isn't that bad. I've only been to California and loved it. I live in the UK

  • i had the great pleasure of living in NYC for a year and half, and like yourself felt lost coming back to a sleepy little town in australia, its been 14 years since i was there, and not week goes by that i don't long for the place. After traveling to many other cities in the U.S there is just no other city like it!

  • I got a new iMac.

  • how can your license not work?

  • Carl I understand the change from constant buzz of NYC to NC but I sometimes confuse boredom with peace and serenity ! - DriverLic., in Louisiana if you cancel insurance you have to turn in the auto tag (License plate) or DMV will 'flag' your license. Its the Vehicle that is required to have ins., but the DMV may suspend Driver's License to enforce rules. You should be able to drive cars that are insured. Just check w/ your DMV to make sure you did all the steps when canceling your insurance

  • :) That's not just NY...I think it's the general College experience!

  • Carl, Happy New Year my friend, I am happy that you like New York...I was there when I was your age and it was truly an experience that I shall never forget. Yes, you can drive other people's cars, if they have insurance allowing it. The insurance you purchase is usually for a car that you own or are buying.

Take care and have a great 2010!

  • I went back home to Louisiana, and it was boring. I was without internet and phone for most of the trip, which isolated me even more. At least you have broadband where you live. :)

I had to come back to Denton, TX (where I go to school(it's in the Dallas area)) after 5 days, because I couldn't handle it anymore.

Totally know how you feel. :D

  • i love your coat in this video. Where is it from =]

  • i know exactly what you mean, its sooooo fun being at college, having your friends like 15 ft from you instead of 15 miles... also alot more happens at college... home is such a drag :-(

    except for family :-)

  • ps - Happy Holidays...

pps - both my girlfriend and I are looking for a Research Assistants (her: HIV, chlamydia; me: human sexuality/sexual minorities, medical physics/electrophysiology). Spanish a huge plus. If you're interested, PM me with a CV. Affiliations: Mount Sinai School of Medicine/Beth Israel/NYU.

ppps - give your mom a kiss for me...

  • Carl, I had almost the opposite experience. I'm a lifelong NYCer, but stayed in NC for several months when my girlfriend was finishing her Masters at Duke. What a welcome respite from the craziness of NYC. I just couldn't get over people calling me "sir." So civilized! I almost wanted to get a job at Research Triangle Park. The biggest problem was that I didn't drive, so I know how you feel, sistah! We're both back in NYC now, but we remember the NC days fondly.

  • It's not that YOUR license doesn't 'work'...but YOU have to be personally insured. Even though a car is insured, it's insured only for certain people to drive. It sucks, but ya...

  • Dude Carl...I LOVE your vids man...respect to you man... I know subway is the ticket to go where you need to go and they are all kinds fast. I work on a cruise ship and But that prolly means nothin but Love the honesty you give......Rock on man.

  • Precisely why I'd like to live in NYC.

  • Carl, insurance covers two things: collision (i.e. your car) and personal liability. You can drive without the first one (but that would mean if you total a friend's car that you're on the hook for the cost of their car), but you can't legally drive without the second one, in case you hit someone else's car and/or injure them. Joshua's guess in his video response is wrong. So if you don't have insurance right now, unless you're on your parents' policy still, don't drive.

  • LOL. You are sooooo bitten! And its only been a few months. Well you're probably packed to back by now. Now that you've had this experience you can plan ahead for the next time you're home.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

  • in former times u liked ur hometown . a little bit sad, now u dont even know what 2 do. you are "newyorked". . .

  • Well it doesn't seem like anyone's telling you what they got anymore, just talking about fascism, but I got a ukulele and an awesome peacoat. I just finally mastered Somewhere Over the Rainbow today, working on a few Beatles songs. And I know what you mean about NYC. Even coming back to Chicago is tough. It's way easier than NC, I'd wager, though. Stick it out, have fun with your family. Good luck not falling into a boredom induced coma! Merry Christmas, have a great 2010!

  • so u watch Nip/Tuck too huh? lol.

  • Welcome to your real independence. The only thing that stays the same in life is change.

Make good choices as your encounter it.... and give your parents a hug before you leave because it is their efforts that have helped you build the tools to do so.

  • do you know people who live in NYC? in other words, how do you expect to move to a city like new york city and plan on making such a living? just curious....

  • Hahah! Your video about boredom got a good two laughs out of me, so hey. Hopefully you find some fun to be had tonight!

  • o and i got an electric guitar

  • i used to live in ny it was great

but now i live in AZ and it suxs

its like the worst place to live because u have to drive everywhere and there's absolutely nothin to do

and i live in a city that has nooooo public transportation

    so yea....ny is the best

  • i got a laptop for xmass

  • My 16th bday was on Christmas eve...i got a DSLR :) very pleased with it.

  • If you have your license, you can drive as long as you're driving an insured vehicle. You can drive your own uninsured car, but it ain't really legal ;)

  • I Am So feeling the Toronto Syndrome

  • Eh I never really enjoyed NYC, I might have enjoyed it if I was not rushed around every edge of NYC in about 24 hours. My feet killed me XDD we walked everywhere. Gotta love Senior Trips XDD, But I would go back there, as for what I got for the holidays: I got a Basketball, a new camera, and a skull candy over the ear headset. now all i need to do is get an adapter for the headset so it fits into my laptop because the headset was meant for an Xbox 360 XDDD, well Ill leave on good notions today.

  • I couldnt live in new york, couldnt express myself without being killed

  • why are you a nazi?

  • Im not a nazi, That would make me fascist, they condemn LGBT lifestyle, Im Bisexual, Im not Kommunist Either, Im socialiste. Dedicated to the Internationale.

  • beatlemaniacforever, i don't think you have the right idea about new york. It's full of weird people. You shall be lucky if you stand out.

  • Il n'est pas de sauveurs suprêmes

Ni Dieu, ni César, ni tribun

    Producteurs, sauvons-nous nous-mêmes

    Décrétons le salut commun

P.S. I stick out enough in Texas here

  • oh ok well manhattan is incredibly safe and i'm sure there's heaps of socialists ha

  • leigh2490

Incredibly safe??? I doubt the hell of it when I end up on CNN debating abortion and LGBT rights

  • @beatlemaniacforever

Yep, NYC is "incredibly safe," relatively speaking. If I'm not mistaken, we are now statistically the safest large city in the US. On 12/30/09, a report showed that 2009 had the lowest homicide rate ever, since recordkeeping began in 1963. Other crimes are at similar lows -- pretty surprising during economic turmoil, where people are desperate and the the police force is cut. Even terrorism isn't much of an everyday issue.

  • lgbtTV3

I live in north texas, 30 miles north of dallas. Crime here is almost non existent in Collin County. I'll take your word for it though.

  • It's true. NYC's violent crime rate is well below that of many other large cities, but mainstream America (read: clueless suburbia) still thinks there's a crackhead with a machete around every corner. The demographics of urban America have changed since the 1970s, but outdated impressions die hard. Gang activity especially is not strong in central cities; a quick scary drive thru certain parts of northern New Jersey (or the San Francisco area's East Bay) can make that real clear.

  • Totally agree- exactly the same thing with me. Coming back from the buzz of central London for the holidays to a little town.. RUBBISH!

  • ya im the same

  • I'm so glad you mentioned niptuck, I haven't watched any of season 6..but I've watched all the other seasons religiously on tv haha. Time to go find a streaming site, or torrent ~_~.

  • Got an assortment of cooking olive oils. Wow im boring... Oh, and also got a shirt.

  • hmmm...i'm not a lawyer, but i think you're right - its the car owner that insures the car, not the driver who needs insurance (if he has a license) unless NC is different (did you call the dmv??? try that)

weird (imho) that you're missing nyc but i guess different ppl like different things...nyc is nice to visit but i definitely wouldnt wanna live there...but can be nice for nye i guess...i just dont like being in a crowd ALL THE TIME!!! lol drop a ball on kitty hawk & have a gr8 2010!! :)

  • i got the samsung moment phone! :) i love it, a huge upgrade from my old one.. still getting used to touchscreen..

and i have no idea what i'm doing for new years either...

and ugh at least you've been to New York :P

  • nice I GOT AN IPOD TOUCH 3G

  • he's kinda cute

  • he's kinda SEXY!!

  • you can't go home again Carl

  • @thegamelordoftheworl True words!!! and the title of one of my favorite writer Thomas Wolfe's novels, who actually was from North Carolina like this guy.

  • Yeah, I've heard they have some sort of celebration on New Year's in NYC... involves dropping a ball or something... sounds kinda boring, though....

    watch it on teevee!

  • Carl, you are too cute for words!!

And yes, it's true. After leaving NYC the last time I went, I just got soooo depressed and bored because it was just...NOT NYC.

Stupid Texas not being closer to NYC.

Anyways, I feel your pain. Take care, and good luck next semester!

PS---any chance you gonna post your grades? show us that you weren't just partying all the time? hehehe

  • huhuhihi i feel hony today anyone shares the same feeling as me

  • Just rub one out dude!

  • I feel the same way! I went from a SMALL ASS Ohio town in the boondocks to Sacramento, California. Not as big as NYC, but definitely the same lifestyle. Small towns suck!

  • enjoy your time with family and friends :-)

yes, you can still drive someone elses cars as long as you have a drivers license

    have fun..happy new year!!

  • i miss new york so much i moved to nc like a year ago and no one can compare ny 2 nc ny was an amzing place to live it was just a different life style

  • I was like that with visiting D.C for a week, then went back to Bama and I hate it here now, haha'.

  • lol I live in NYC. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. However, I'm going to Waltham, MA for college. not too far from Boston so I guess I'll survive. I'm going to the ball drop for new years lol with friends this time XD

  • I love NYC too, Carl. I was there once and didn't wanna leave. boooooo for living in ohio.

  • I WOULD SO WISH MY BIRTHDAY WAS ON CHRISTMAS

    DUDE

JUST IMAGINE ALL THE HYPE THAT WOULD GO ON STARTING BEFORE THANKSGIVING!!! ALL THE PRETTY SONGS AND LIGHTS AND DECORATIONS I WOULD FEEL LIKE THEY WERE CELEBRATING MY BIRTHDAY!!! HOW AWESOME WOULD THAT BE!!!!

o..m..g...I just realized I accidentally had all the caps on. mmm...my bad.

  • New York is amazing!! Carl is amazing!

  • as long as the car has liability ins on it, u are good. Well, thats the way it is here. Still got to have valid license tho.

    BIG CITY's Suck Rocks!

  • You license is still valid, if you are insured, your insurance will carry over to another vehicle. Otherwise the vehicle must state other casual drivers on the policy. It won't get you in trouble with the law, but if something does happen, it could mean the difference between being covered or not. Buck up, you will survive.

  • i posted yesterday and someone responded to me and said that i was wrong, they agreed with you. not to sound childish but you guys are wrong. car insurance is sold to a person, but is affected to their car alone

if someone were to borrow your car and be at fault in an accident your insurance would pay out and your premium would increase not theirs

a casual drivers policy involves someone who would not be covered under the insurance normally like your child.

go to any insurance website for info

  • you may have said this before. but what are you majoring at school?

  • ok!? mmm.. let me see, mmm... wait! i really dont know what to say honestly ahmm... just get creative! _ _

  • Hey Carl - sorry your bored. Have a great New Year anyway. When life gives you lemons make a Youtube video! How about you film NC squirrels now and NYC squirrels when you get back there and do a comparison concept video - or just sleep alot until you go back. Either way u r so cool that itz all good.

  • maybe the relaxation is good for you, in past videos you've seemed stressed about the n.y. environment. it's obvious you've become accustomed to the exciting life in new york, but i say you chill out and enjoy your time in north carolina because soon you'll be thrust back into new york, and eventually you might want to go back home. :\ sorry you're bored.

  • Hope you have a great New Year( it would be much more fun in Times Square) What did I get for Christmas? A portable hard drive and the flu YAHOOOOO!

  • tgf hulu

  • you're just making a video because your bored?

    Pshh

Once upon a time I was your subscriber.

It was nice to meet ya

  • I have a crush on you. :)

  • Every time I've been to a big city I couldn't wait to LEAVE as soon as possible.

  • you cant drive u familys cars but u can drive any cars that ur frends own or nextdoor naber at lesst that what the lay is in Mass.

  • @ReadyOkayGo Maybe drLa1992 has no where else to go. There are other places to contact of course, but if at 16 he doesn't know what else to do, I can't blame him. It's better to talk about it somewhere than to say nothing at all.

  • Man I know no license is like no freedom in lot of parts of the world lol but ,u got a plan 2 go 2 ny and work thats good .

and love Ur jacket where did u get it form

    tc

  • @drla1992

If you want any help...message me anytime, it sounds real bad, something you can't deal with on your own.

  • WOW, do you get that much sex in NY ???

  • You're not insured to drive other peoples car, it's frowned down upon, but your license still works. The only thing is, is that if you wreck a car their insurance won't cover it. UNLESS they have full coverage, which likely will cover ANY licensed driver.

  • OMG FLASHBACK!

From the old carlkr days BD yeeahh

  • Comment removed

  • hehe... i'm gonna cry the year you stop updating us on your life.

    no really... haha i WILL

  • New York City is a fantastic place, yeah, but enjoy all the benefits of being home. No school, no homework, no papers to write, no exams to stress over. Just enjoy having no responsibilities whatsoever and don't let your parents drive you crazy. Because they're driving me crazy. And we usually have a good relationship. Hmm.

  • I sometimes get the impression ,Carl, that your glass will always be half empty

  • As far as I know, if you have a license you're legal to drive, but if your parents dropped you off their car insuranse, if you have an accident you're responsible.

A belated Merry Christmas Carl and Happy New Year.

  • Haha so true. I have relatives where you're from in NC, live 10 mi from NYC, and have a sister in college in NYC. I know exactly what you mean, haha.

I got a tablet. Yay! Its been fun.

Nice jacket. Hope you get un-bored/back up here soon, man.

  • seriously...i go to NYU and now I'm back home and it's like...what do i do? i can't walk or go on the subway!

  • And is your mom really that strict about obeying the law? I would drive anyway.

  • boredom inspires creativity.

  • if you have a lisense and a car..u can drive...but dont get pulled over

  • Carl; you are being over stimulated. NYC is simply another central nervous system stimulant.....like speed, crank or other street drugs. Your whole persona has changed recently, most noticebly since you got to NY. Please look at your life as 60 more years not just this weeks excitement, or todays stimulation.

This from a 61YO GWM same husband 32 years.

Too much party, too much drug too much stimulation....= dead or crazy.

  • Poor bored Carl. Poor bored unimaginative Carl. Poor bored unimaginative ungrateful Carl. Poor poor poor poor Carl.

  • apply to banana republic!!! the one in the mall is hiring stock associates :-P

  • PART 11

    Karl!

Within a short time in that cafe, you will have interactions...and people will talk to yoou, and approach you and natural conversation etc etc.

It happens every day in NYC, but in the suburbs it doesn't...SAD but true.

ANYWAY.....MONTREAL could be a focus, in any case, and planning your next break there. It's like NYC with a FRANCAIS soundtrack, and cute, cute guys and YES it's even possible: cuter than you; you'll love it!! A QUEBEC~ boyfriend in the NEW YEAR : PARFAIT

  • PART 1

    Karl!

Boredom can be a benefit, at least when you come out of it... Appreciatation of NYC for sure!

What you are experiencing is : SUBURBAN boredom, a life without people/activity;hugely artifiical. Not connecting with anyone or anything. Ergo..there you are in your room. ISOLATED/ ///

Get into a sociological head~ space, and just observe: Go to the best cafe in the downtown, take out...NOT YOUR LAPTOP (that is part of the problem) but a notebook, and write down your thoughts........

  • ... he's a new york city boy..

  • A big city like New York can spoil you after being there. As for work, you would be a very cute waiter, hehehe.

  • You can't drive your mother's car unless you are a policy holder. I can't drive either because not a lot of money as a student.

  • I once heard that only boring people get bored. You are definitely not boring, so think of something.... be creative! I'm sure you can. And share with us! Happy Holidays

  • i know if i had as many subscribers as you and i was bored at least i would try to answer some of my loyal subscribers...just saying :)

  • ha ha

  • Hi Carl : )

I got the usual bottles of wine, T shirts, socks and another RC helicopter that doesn't really fly very well. We had two days of family visiting here, so it is kinda nice to have Sunday to chill out and actually feel bored!...hope that whatever you do, you have a great year ahead.

  • take it from me Enjoy your family and friends that are there with you. You can drive if you have a licnese most insurance covers the person driving the car Check the policy. NY will be there Enjoy life as it happenes for each moment Looking to the futurre you will miss the present

  • I think once you've tasted the NY living, you'll having troubles getting settled anywhere else. As for presents it wasn't much this year... and actually I'm feeling bored and miserable myself, living in this small village on the countryside near Brussels doesn't do me any good... I should better go on holidays, any suggestions? :-)

  • hey i didnt get much just stayed home and a had a romantic day with my boyfriend. . how was your christmas ? ? i hope it was good for you ..

  • Guess you are not going to live in North Carolina when you get your Doctor's Degree and it is NOT legal to drive without Insurance. Obviously your heart is in NYC and until your heart moves elsewhere - that is where you will enjoy life the most. But your heart is also with your family. No need to stay long but as long as you are there, make life as good as you can for them. When you are gone, they will feel the way you do right now.

  • I have the same syndrome here... I live in a big city in France, and now I'm visiting my parents, and I'm so grateful they have internet because i'm dying !!!!!!

I got one book for this holiday.. That's all :)

  • i got a xbox 360 (elite/black version) and i got left 4 dead 2 (pc) for christmas and for my birthday? i only got money and a new cell phone :D

  • boredommmmmmm yeah I know the feeling.. nice jacket though

  • I got a mp3 new and candys and money and perfume . : D . Its was kinda fun .

  • boredness aside...u look nice...very fashionable

  • You look really cute in this video, love the jacket where did you get it? lol

  • I know what you mean. I work in Times Square, but I live upstate in Orange County. I feel like I live a double life sometimes.

Yay for Nip/Tuck though :D lol

I got a cashmere scarf and a new wallet <3

Wait, what did you get?? :)

  • I lived in nY for many years, and most people who haven't been there have no idea what you're taslking about! anything you want, and it's convenient. people think I'm arrogant, or being a snob when i say this.,.....and reak food, not toned down to suit midwest taste

  • nuttin like the energy of NYC!

    I miss it too

  • omg that's exactly how I feel, cuz I go to school in NYC but and I don't drive here in Ohio and I'm dying or boredom!!!!

  • I got an iPod Touch for Christmas, which is what I'm watching this video on.

  • I totally understand, I lived in NYC for more than ten years. I still miss the convenience and the incredible food. But enjoy your time with your family. Everything changes faster than you anticipated.

    Have a wonderful new year!

  • spend new years with my friends and i

  • you cant drive if you dont have car insurance lol

  • I woud hate to say I liked this video, then I'd be saying i like that you're bored...!?!?! I feel bad and can relate...with the blizzards in the midwest all I can do is catch up on youtube.

  • Wow,that was fast! I expected it but not this soon. The thing to remember when you visit home is to make the most of the time you have with your family. It is not about you being entertained every minute. When you are in the city I have no doubt your family misses you. Work on giving "of yourself" and making some memorable moments with those that really love you. I know it is tough because you are young but the things that REALLY matter are the people that love you. Play games, cook, paint, laugh!

  • I have NYC syndrome too D: I used to live there and I wish I still did lol

  • Hey my mom is jehovas whitness so I don't get to celebrate holidays or birthdays which six, I HATE it!!!!!!! But I bought myself slot of stuff. Like clothes, music, and new speedos for the upcoming swim season in January( so excited). I'll be diving this year too, so I gotta have sexy speedos rite!! Lol. And I'm going snowboarding for the first time yaaaaaaasaaa!!!!!!!!

    P.s. Stay sexy babe ;)

  • new jacket sweetheart...

  • Dear Carl:

Wouldn't you still be on your parents car insurance policy at least until you either finish college or reach the age of 23. If your parents took you off the policy they could easily reinstate you for a brief period for when you are home on holidays. Also, if you can get to Franklin Street in Chapel HIll there's plenty of good looking people like yourself to party with. Other Gays may even recognize you from your videos. Start the Party!!!!

    Only the best,

    Rick

  • It depends on the policy of the car owner. My insurance allows "guest" drivers on a short term basis. I let a roommate drive my car for 7 weeks and i simply contacted my insurance provider to let them know. So each owner needs to simply check with their provider.

Bottom line, Its generally ok ,check the policy or a quick call to the provider and you should be set.

  • Go on blogtv when you are board and have a live show Carl . Just suggesting . Have a really good new year !

  • Welcome Home! =]

  • well i got a tool box as one of my gifts. Im gay what am i going to do with a tool box? Its like a straight guy getting a tiara. Where's he goina put it?

  • Wouldn't it be "New York City Withdrawal?" "New York City Syndrome" sounds dirty, anyways, sorry for the impulse to correct - not very holiday-like. And if you drive another persons car and god forbid something like a wreck happens and if they don't have full liability and medical auto insurance you will be responsible for all damages (or not . . . I like to make things up)

  • OMG, you're going to miss New Year's Eve in NYC! That's the place to be - you get to see the ball drop and sing with everyone at Midnight. I've never experienced it but I've seen it on TV & it's looks quite exciting.

Sorry you're bored but once you've lived in a big city like NYC everything else seems sleepy.

  • I'm in the same boat as u, cept Montreal's my NYC ... So bored here in my suburb and missing my bf... Grrr...just watch movies or read till u get back to "real life" lolll

  • at least hulu works in your country...

  • or kwanza

  • For christmas my mom is taking me to see a little night music in new york on monday......so imma be there before you are : )

On the other hand, i sorta know how you feel. I'm moving to nyc late january, but until then I have NOTHING to do, and I don't know how to drive. Complete cabin fever. I can't wait for monday so I can get out of the house and do something exciting.

  • @alegitproduction

Uh... U know he is gay right?

  • As long as you don't get caught you can drive without insurance.... ;)

  • i could imagine it getting bored. Are there none of your old friends to hang out with? XD if you get exceptionally bored you should definatley watch buffy the vampire slayer XD trust me that would keep you entertained

  • Carl, as long as you have a valid license, 18 or over, and have the permission of the owner, you can drive. Some drivers may have restricted insurance because of past legal problems, but that is the exception to the law.

  • you are allowed to drive other people's car if you have a license. it is the car that is insured, not the driver. however, if the address on your license is the same address of the car owner, you need to be listed on their insurance plan. if the address is different you are covered. i had that problem too, and my parents insurance agent told me that.

    Merry Christmas!

  • No, you are wrong. In general, it is the driver who is insured, not the car. Drivers take their insurance with them whichever car they drive.

  • not to sound childish but you are wrong. car insurance is sold to a person, but is affected to their car alone

if a friend were to be at fault in an accident in your car your insurance would pay for damages, not your friends

you can get insurance that does follow a driver, a non owner policy, but the insurance of the car's owner would pay out first. your plan would only cover costs if the owners plan isnt extensive enough to cover the entire cost of damage.

go to any insurance website for info

  • Hey there Carl, Glad you made it home to see your family for the Holidays. Sorry you find it boring now after living in New York. I've never been to New York, but it seems like it would be a nice place to see some time. Hope you enjoy your visit. Talk to you later. Sean.

  • This reminds me of when I was in Chicago and the "EL". My school gave me a pass to use public transportation. Shock when I came home to Indiana. I want to go back to Chicago too.

A million things to do if you have the internet.

About to get my new record player and an adapter for my camera as a gift I wanted. It was not under the tree.
