I question the motive's behind attacking this man. Jesus Himself said "repent and believe in the gosple". I believe our Lord over man any day. People need to trust in what they read in God's word, and study for themselve's w/the Strongs Dictionary for clarity on meanings/usage in the original text. MK1 14 Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Why is it that no one has answered your post? Obviously, you brought up a good verse about the calling of the gospel.
Please, "Repent and believe the gospel" is the calling of the gospel. It's not telling to do the good work first to be saved. When you hear this calling, God will use it to regenerate your soul so that you will come to repentance, and believe. Romans 10:17 "So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ"
@ele12957returns Was it not Jesus Christ own glory that made him blind and make him realize He was Lord and Savior? Was it not Christ that made him change his mind to believe? both repentence and believe/faith work simultaneously together to bring a sinner to salvation. a sinful being cannot come to salvation unless their is that change that makes them realize they are a sinner before God, This is what the bible teaches & i really have no time to deal with u as i kno the kind of person u r.
@ele12957returns As a sinful being one by their own strenght cannot believe because they are a slave to sin and their father is the devil, therfore it must take a change of mind, something working in their hearts to expose and covict them of their sin, the Holy Spirit does that as a sinner hears the Gospel which in turn their is a change of mind which will lead them to believe. Take the Apostle Paul when he was Saul what did it take for him to believe?
@ele12957returns yeah ur right not everyone that hears the Gospel will be saved only those who the Holy Spirit has convicted through the Gospel will be saved. the more a sinner hears the Word the more he begins to see sin as God does and the just punishment for it and also His goodness by sending a Savior, yes God's goodness does lead a sinner to repentence with a heart that is broken by sorrow of sin.
@ele12957returns "For the sorrow that is according to the wll of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation" The Holy Spirit works with the Word to lead a sinner to repentence which is a genuine fruit of believe and faith in the Son of God, there is a choice but those who are saved are drawn by the Spirit to believe and in believing u r letting go of sin bc u believe. Sin exposed by the Word& Spirit brings sorrow, sorrow leads to repentence and repentence leads to salvation.
@ele12957returns God draws a sinner through the Gospel when they hear the Gospel the Holy Spirit convicts them of their sin to have a broken and contrait heart and in that is repentence of itself which produces the fruit of salvation which in turn obediance but they must be convicted through the Word &the Holy Spirit working in their hearts before they believe &in believing they are repenting forsaking their sin, the Jews rejected it bc they had hardened their hearts to the truth ¬ obeying it
@ele12957returns I am not going to argue with you sir but this is what the Word of God teaches, "But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit," "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day."
@ele12957returns Jesus also taught that it is the Holy Spirit that must draw a sinner to Christ by our own power we will never be able to turn from our sin, if it was up to us we wld reject Christ everytime and go after sin. So the Holy Spirit must work in the heart of a sinful being to draw them to the Son of God for salvation which makes a wretched heart believe and stand on the Gospel, turning away from sin. He is the One who calls us and draws us to Himself.
@ele12957returns well in all four Gospels Christ taught that a step of obediance is to believe in Him, He especially taught this to the Pharasees and scribes Jesus said, "He who believes in Him is not judged ; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." - John 3:18
the word repentance is translated from a greek word Metanoeo meta is where we get words like metamorphosis and literally means to change, the word noeo is where we get words like nous and literally means thinking or mind, hence the word repentance should actually be translated as changing ones mind.
If you have never repented and had a change of heart about sin how can you say you really love what christ loves. If you have never turned from the sins you love are you not a worker of iniquity. A lot of people say they believe but they are not trusting 100 percent in Christ. If you are against repentance you are against the meassage of Jesus who said Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish."Luke 13:5
Repentance is not reformation. reformation is turning over a new leaf, this is works. Repentance and Faith are heads and tails of the same coin which make a conversion. True repentance will always be with biblical faith. Biblical faith will allways be connected to repentance. they cannot be seperated. When a professing believer tells me he does not believe in repentance and that he will never repent that to me is works, it tells me he is still wed to his sins and that he is not trusting Christ.
"Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ" Acts 20:21 "To open there eyes,(understanding) and to turn them from darkness(repentance) to light (faith) and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins,(Salvation) and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me." Acts 26:18 The problem Im afraid is that modern preachers dont like the word repentance its to old fashioned.
"Repent ye therefore, and be conferted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;" Acts 3:19 "Men and brethren, what shall we do? Than Peter said unto them, REPENT.." Acts 2:37,38
Why you all cannot see that the problem is that we have not defined belief or faith. Faith is repenting, faith is believing, faith is confessing, faith is being baptized. I can not believe w/o Grace, I can not repent w/o Grace. I can not confess w/o Grace, I can not repent w/o Grace. It is ALL by grace and repenting is no more a works than belief. We are commanded to do both. If you say repenting is works, then say the same with belief. Believing is a change in something and so is repenting!!!
Thats an agument from silence! Plus, the only thing we know that he did wrong was that he had paul and silas in jail. And after he and his house were baptized he wanted to take them back!
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. Any amount of repentance is work. How could a little repentance be grace but alot of repentance be work? If repentance was not work then it wouldnt matter how much there is.
I could "pluck out" plenty more verses by the way.
wayinoutreach, the phrase "repent of your sins" does not even appear in the Bible at all. The first mention of repentance in the Bible is the Lord repenting as mentioned in Genesis 6:6.
And it REPENTED the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. (Genesis 6:6 KJE).
"if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14 Even God Himself said they had to repent, meaning turning from your wicked ways and they have to humble themselves and then God will forgive their sin. We see those all over the entire bible especially the NT
God is saying he will heal their land,. Theyre HIS PEOPLE (saved) Hes just chastising them Heb 12:6
"If that nation, against whom I have ronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them."
You must be blind to not realize that is a works gospel you wrote. Jon 3:10 says its works to turn from ones wicked way. Not that common sense shouldnt tell you that already.
Tell me- if you still think thats what it takes, What wicked ways do you have to turn from?
Repentance and faith are not works the Bible tells us that salvation is
by grace yet they are essential for salvation. The power of God is needed for salvation. It is only through the power of His Spirit which is present when the Gospel is preached that true repentance and saving faith are found:
Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Lk 13:5) Therefore, in order to be saved, you must be born again that was a requirement Jesus gave.
"Repentance is a turning from a life of self and sin to a life of submission and obedience to Gods will. Repentance means sins perceived, sins abhorred and sins abandoned. This change is wrought by the power of God through the Holy Spirit, the word of truth (the Bible) being used as a means to convict the sinner of sin and lead him to forsake it and to resolve henceforth to walk before God in all truth and uprightness.
Part of obeying God is to turn from your sins your wicked ways and repent in order for salvation to be produced however the first step is to believe the Gosple of Jesus Christ. When the Holy Spirit through the Word and the Gospel being preached convicts the sinner of their sin then and exposes them before a Holy God they then obey him and repent. Its part of salvation and even then its not by the sinners willingness but its by the Holy Spirit drawing them to obey the Gospel&the Word
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. (Romans 4:4-8 in the King James Bible).
Romans was written to the Christians. They had already repented & believed so I do not think that this verse applies to the unbeliever as really, the whole book of Romans can apply only to the believer because it was written TO the BELIEVERS.
The repentance that both John and Jesus preached was national in scope. They were to repent and prepare for the coming in of the Kingdom. They did not so Osrael was put on hold while the church is being formed.
Turning from unbelief to belief in Christ is repentance. Enable by a new nature where the Holy Spirit resides, a new life is lived in fellowship with the risen Christ.
This is transforming grace and it effects a change and growth as the Bride learns how glorious is her Bridegroom!
The gift of Salvation is FREE yes!! How long do you think ytou will ride on the GIFT part before you actually get the desire to give your all back to HIM. His KINDNESS leads to REPENTANCE.
Luke 13:3 & 5 both states "...except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish." REPENTING is something that you do everyday for the rest of your life, NOT to BE SAVED, but BECAUSE you WERE SAVED!! NO REPENTANCE, NO SALVATION!! It's FREE, so is a puppy but they are hard work to look after, so are you!!
I fear with your talk that you are well on your way to hell as well so I guess you would consider Ray Comfort to be in fine company then, eh? Jesus Christ preached repentance 28 times between Matthew, Mark & Luke. Repentance is EVIDENCE of the NEW MAN. I think you need far more Bible Studies.
"Stop talking foolishly" would be repentance, but that is obviously something you enjoy & are not willing to give up, right? Your LOSS!!
I'm so sick of all these false teachers. I'm literally wearied by it. I can't wait until God kills Ray Comfort et all and drops them into eternal hell!
People just need to read the gosple of John 1 time only...in KJV thats it, that simple to do and youll know how to be saved and what salvation is...repent is used 0 times in gospel of John lol, which is the gospel emphasising salvation correct, just as matthew is emphasising Jesus as healer? People just get emotionally hooked to these new age preachers like Washer and get into their preaching rather then reading the bible for themselves to see the truth.
Kyouryuu...: Romans 12:1 says " I beseech u there4 brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Now I would like to know how a new believer is going to accomplish that without turning from their sin, which is the meaning of REPENTANCE?
One really has to wonder what it is that you all still like doing even though you want to call yourselves CHRISTIANS". Hmmmmm!!
LOUSY EXPOSE! Try reading Luke 24:44-49 which clearly teaches that repentence of sins for forgiveness is expected of our Lord Jesus.
I agree with Ogdinthorpe. How this video maker even considers repentance a "work" is beyond me. And his use of Sampson in Heb 11:32 & Saul in 1 Sam 28:19 make no reference to the claims he has made in this video. ???
Read Luke 13: 3 & 5 carefully before you start the parade!!
The only "false teacher" is the one that made this video. Study your Bible more & spend less time on Utube if you really desire to know TRUTH. 24 times in the New Testament, we are told to REPENT, so I don't see how anyone can claim that REPENTANCE has nothing to do with SALVATION. Sounds like there are several people standing on sinking sand in this comment section!! Get with it people!! God Bless!!
I wish there was some sort of bible literacy test that people would take before they're allowed to make Youtube videos. That would greatly reduce the rampant stupidity such as this video and it's maker.
The bible tells us in James that "faith without works is dead." Of course there is a work that must be done - simply believing something is what the demons in hell have accomplished - James 2:18-20 yet they are without salvation. You are not taking the whole gospel into account with this teaching. Ray Comfort's teaching on Biblical evangelism is sound.
The best way to describe the groups of ppl in Mark 4, speaking of the parable of the sower, is group one is Christ Rejecters; group two is Worldly Believers; group three is Selfish Believers; group four is Soulwinning Believers.
I'd agree with you completely with one small change-
instead of "the best way" i would say its the RIGHT way!
We are told of the 1st group "...lest they should BELIEVE and BE SAVED" Then we are told explicitly that all three other groups believed. Its not rocket science, but if you have an agenda to push you must muddy the waters.
The first group is the ones that hear the gospel (the ones on the way side), but reject it. The second group is saved, but is quickly uprooted; in other words, drift out into the world. The third group is selfish believers who are caught up in the cares of life and have no time for doing service for God. The final group is the group our desire should be to be... soulwinners. The verse speaks of 100fold; could u imagine winning 100 ppl to Christ? Today it's rare for that to happen.
Exactly, people are always conditioned to think "fruit of the spirit" because thats all people preach on anymore. soul winning is old fashioned to them.
How are you going to bring forth 30 fold love... 40 fold joy... How are you going to quantify those? How much joy counts as 1 joy? haha
100 is rare but possible. We've just gotten so lazy. Figure just 2 people in 365 days. Those are pretty good odds.
It's rare because of Lordship Salvationists perverting the very Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then people use the damnable perverted Bible versions. No one is going to get saved that way. We need the King James Bible ONLY and salvation by grace ALONE and then we will see souls actually want to hear the gospel.
@bibleword Hum... the KJV was translated from Hebrew and Greek. Just like the rest. Your comment is that the KJV is the best? With that thinking it is not. The original would be the best. Hudson Taylor translated the Bible fo the Chinese into their own language, and some words had to be changed because there was no words in their language that would have the same meaning. The Chinese have more true Christians than what the US does.Without repentance there is no forgiveness..
The KJB is not only the best Bible, it is the only Bible and the right Bible. Not to correct you on everything you think you might know, but we don't have the originals today. Yet, God promised to preserve His very words for us today... and He did that through the King James Bible. We must have a perfect Word of God today, or else everything taught is in vain.
Great video I notice on the comments people are talking back and forth on repenting, Yes all must repent and all of his people will repent but repenting does not save you. Repenting is from your salvation and salvation is from the Lord. God saves not repenting, God must do a work in your life 1st, he changes your heart so that you can believe and will believe. It is Gods will that you believe. Read John 1:11
If repenting saved you then Why would you need Christ. "just repent and be saved"
God does not choose for you, People choose to be saved:
And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Rev. 22:17
Serving God is also a result of choice; not a result of being saved.
Choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Everyone get off the calvinist bandwagon b4 it takes you to hell
Your right, John doesn't mention the word "repent" but, you might want to read John 8:11 - ... Go and leave your life of sin! Pretty sure that's repentence my friend, it doesn't say it, but that's what's implied here.
You might want to look at some of the other Gospels as well, repentance is mentioned. (Mark 1:15, Luke 13:2, Matt. 3:2, 8, 11) Repentanceis mentioned around 25 times in the Gosples. Ray is solid gold!!! Sorry you can't see that.
Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at ; but nocommandeth all men every where to repent : why don't you spend more time correcting people in LOVE, your style is of the Devil......
Romans 6 "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." remember salvation is not by works but through the gift of grace.
However in order to be saved you need to believe and repent because their is nothing you can do to obtain this great gift but to continue afterward to be living in sin is like rejecting Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. its like spitting on it. an abomination just read romans and youll see.
(cont...) "that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men."
and this is also found in Matthew, "Therefore by their fruits you will know them." and all epistles, in romans, ephesians...
(cont...) "For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior," (cont...3)
(cont...) "To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work." (cont...2)
ps. And in titus it says "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." (cont.. 1)
Antother calvie on youtube that thinks he doesnt sin...
Or you do as you say, spit on Jesus Christ even though you are saved? Why are you better than somoene else who sins? All lordship ppl are hypocrites!
Demons believe there is one God. So do muslims, but neither BELIEVE ON the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation
Do you think you have to live in a boat to be saved? Acts 27:31 says so! 2 Cor 7 is not talking about being saved from hell, what in that chapter would make you even think that?
Apparently you did not read Romans 6 i said that those who profess to be saved but go on back into the world being slaves of sins is indeed like spitting upon the sacrifice of Christ; saying it was worthless. you are not saved by works but by believing upon the Gospel however repentence leads to this genuine faith in Christ that will not lead back into the world. even Christ taught this on the Mount, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." mourn for what?
(cont...) they mourn and are sorrowful because they see their sin and they are indeed comforted when they come to Christ. by the way i am not perfect but neither am i in the world but in everyway i want to please the One who gave it all in order that i may live. And also by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit i am indeed able to crucify the flesh and the lust there of but that doesnt mean i am perfect because my sinful nature is still there. (cont...2)
(cont)The Lord God Almighty wants you to grow in Him maturing in your faith;because Christ has called you out of darknesssin, unrighteousness, disobedience, and worldliness-and unto the light, walking according to the Spirit and the word, and pursuing godliness obeying the Lords commands and baring sweet fruit that shows your commitment to Him.(And just like an athlete shows their commitment to the team by showing they care and working hard to pursue victory so are we to show our commitment to God.)
i heard them say if you're perfect you can get to heaven. i know they would say that no one can be perfect, but i dont think that doctrine jives w/ the Bible. of coure todd friel uses whacked out perversions.
i believe that too. so what's your beef w/ me on this verse? i've never heard tim conway, unless it's the one on the carol burnette show, and i used to listen do comfort, but some of the wotm doctrines scared me off. washer has some good things and some i dont agree w/.
exactly, repentance is a 180. Just like in the exodus.
Belief saves you. So for salvation you repent from not believing to believing.
You dont repent of sinning because going from sinning to not sinning doesnt save anyone.
Thats like saying i repented of the color blue and turned to the letter R. Its nonsense just like saying repent of your sin to Jesus is nonsense. you turn from not believing to believing
WOTM = works gospel
And God saw their WORKS that they turned from their evil way
I think, "whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life."
Just like the bible says 1000's of times.
There may be people believing in "another Jesus" or "another gospel" that go to hell. Like JW's, Mormons, most protestents, ect. Specifically those who teach one must repent of their sins and belieive in jesus- theyre not saved.
If by grace then it is no more of works....
But if someone who believes the gospel they are saved.
I'm talking about people who say they KNOW the gospel, that Jesus is the only way, but also know they're not born again. If you say there aren't people like this, then perhaps you should knock on a few more doors or hand out a few more tracts. you MUST repent of your sins, a change of mind about them. Jesus said it, not me
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
If thats a rhetorical "no" you are assuming then you're interpretation contradicts rom 4 and the rest of the bible.
Why is it people that teach works salvation wnat to go to james 2? I could go to anybook of the bible and show you "believe" and not work. Is this just the only verse you can twist?
It's not a rhetorical "no" as it can be logically inferred by James stating over and over and over again that he believes works are requisite. He wouldn't change his tune after steadfast adherence to the importance of works which he makes explicitly clear.
I'm not saying that James is right or Paul is wrong or vice versa. They're both entitled to their own opinions.
+It's not a rhetorical "no" as it can be logically inferred by James stating over and over and over again that he believes works are requisite.+
I dont want to waste time argueing with you, but i do want to point out that this is the interpretation lordship ppl want to give to this passage.
Eph 2:8-9 & Rom 11:16 as well as numerous other passages clearly state works are not a requisite, but ALL LORDSHIP PPL want to interpret this verse against the rest of scripture and ignore the contradicions
You can not pray to God and ask of him while you are holding a grudge against against someone else. If you hold things against others God will hold things against you
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Same as in Matt 6 where Jesus tells us to pray after this manner, and then says to ask God to forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
It's pretty clear that they both think there's a distinction between the two and they're not synonymous with each other.
Paul thinks that faith alone suffices and that no additional works are required whereas James argues that one must have works in addition to faith and thus emphasizes the need for works. He states that faith without works is dead.
The change of thought occurs at the point one realizes they must be born again, the act of repentance is praying a prayer of forgiveness, and inviting Christ into your life. If my people that are called by my name shall humble themselves, and turn from their wicked ways and pray though I my have pushed the contaxt I think it is applicable
Repentance is a change of thought and action to correct a wrong and gain forgiveness from a person who is wronged. In religious contexts it usually refers to confession to God, ceasing sin against God, and resolving to live according to religious law. It typically includes an admission of guilt, a promise or resolve not to repeat the offense; an attempt to make restitution for the wrong, or in some way to reverse the harmful effects of the wrong where possible. This is the definition..
Ray Comfort doesn't teach works he teaches God can't fix what's not broken. If you don't know what sin is how can God forgive you of that sin. Have you taken the good person test? Why should you as a Christian take the test? Lookup 2 Corinthians 13:5. I pray you as a pastor will always remain teachable. God Bless and I am praying for you and your family.
It's as if you folks dont know the word repent is in the Bible. how bout Lk 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.--are you saved w/out forsaking all you have. the Bible says to believe, repent and forsake. is that works? we're just talkin' 'bout the Bible. also, there's a difference between believing "in' Jesus and believing 'on' Jesus. many say all you must do is believe 'in' Jesus, but remember the devils believe in Jesus
While ye have light, BELIEVE IN the light, that ye may be the children of light.
Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,Who by him do BELIEVE IN God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
The bible uses both terms. All you have to do is believe the record God gave of his son.(1Jhn 5:10-12) That doesnt include forsakeing.
it's not a matter of having things. it's a matter of being willing to give them up. holding loosely to the things of the world. good luck contradicting James2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.----this is saying 'you BELIEVE (know) there's a God . so what. big deal. the demons also believe. just believing that Jesus was real isn't gonna cut it. nor will works. believe in the path of salvation. not just believe in God.
sure do have things. but not everyone in the Bible was required to sell everything and give it to the poor. there are wicked lost men who KNOW they're not saved yet believe the gospel. they just dont want to receive it i dont think your reasoning will cut it.
Demons believe there is one God, they do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You better read that verse again.
Believe is defined in 1Jhn5:10-11 as trusting or relying upon the record God gave of his son. Believe does not incorperate works or a change of action because it is possible to believe and not work according to Rom4:4.
The bible mentions repentance and it also mentions baptism and following Gods laws. All important, but never is repentance of sins needed for salvation.
They were already saved, thats why peter was telling them to be baptized int hat verse also.
afew verses ago peter just told them "whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." where does peter mention being saved in verse 38?
Their question was, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" So peter told them to repent and be baptized. In Acts 16:30 someone asks, "what MUST I do TO BE SAVED?" He's told the same thing the bible says the other 1000+ times- BELIEVE.
Yeah... you should be baptized after your saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
Ray Comfort teaches the Roman Catholic interpretation of Matt 7. I'm sure he made the pope very proud.

@ele12957returns yeah ur right not everyone that hears the Gospel will be saved only those who the Holy Spirit has convicted through the Gospel will be saved. the more a sinner hears the Word the more he begins to see sin as God does and the just punishment for it and also His goodness by sending a Savior, yes God's goodness does lead a sinner to repentence with a heart that is broken by sorrow of sin.
rojocarpathia 1 year ago 7
@ele12957returns "For the sorrow that is according to the wll of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation" The Holy Spirit works with the Word to lead a sinner to repentence which is a genuine fruit of believe and faith in the Son of God, there is a choice but those who are saved are drawn by the Spirit to believe and in believing u r letting go of sin bc u believe. Sin exposed by the Word& Spirit brings sorrow, sorrow leads to repentence and repentence leads to salvation.
rojocarpathia 1 year ago 3
@ele12957returns God draws a sinner through the Gospel when they hear the Gospel the Holy Spirit convicts them of their sin to have a broken and contrait heart and in that is repentence of itself which produces the fruit of salvation which in turn obediance but they must be convicted through the Word &the Holy Spirit working in their hearts before they believe &in believing they are repenting forsaking their sin, the Jews rejected it bc they had hardened their hearts to the truth ¬ obeying it
rojocarpathia 1 year ago 2
@ele12957returns I am not going to argue with you sir but this is what the Word of God teaches, "But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit," "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day."
rojocarpathia 1 year ago 3
@ele12957returns Jesus also taught that it is the Holy Spirit that must draw a sinner to Christ by our own power we will never be able to turn from our sin, if it was up to us we wld reject Christ everytime and go after sin. So the Holy Spirit must work in the heart of a sinful being to draw them to the Son of God for salvation which makes a wretched heart believe and stand on the Gospel, turning away from sin. He is the One who calls us and draws us to Himself.
rojocarpathia 1 year ago

If you are against repentance you are against the meassage of Jesus who said Except ye repent ye shall all likewise perish."Luke 13:5
freesalvation7 1 year ago

Can anyone do anything without the grace of God?
jleu777 2 years ago
The verse never says he got on his knees. Even if he did, thats great... but no verse says, "if thou shall fall on thy knees..."
You're teaching "easy knee-ism" all you need to do is get on your knees and you've "repented"
jleu777 2 years ago
Thats an agument from silence! Plus, the only thing we know that he did wrong was that he had paul and silas in jail. And after he and his house were baptized he wanted to take them back!
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. Any amount of repentance is work. How could a little repentance be grace but alot of repentance be work? If repentance was not work then it wouldnt matter how much there is.
I could "pluck out" plenty more verses by the way.

Brother, you are right on in this video! Many timid believers are in awe of Ray because he is a fearless street preacher.
But one's teaching must always be examined by the Word of God.
Ray's commentary is so slanted toward his Law view that it is virtualy worthless for a serious student of God's Word.

wayinoutreach, the phrase "repent of your sins" does not even appear in the Bible at all.

We see those all over the entire bible especially the NT
rojocarpathia 2 years ago
God is saying he will heal their land,. Theyre HIS PEOPLE (saved) Hes just chastising them Heb 12:6
"If that nation, against whom I have ronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them."
You must be blind to not realize that is a works gospel you wrote. Jon 3:10 says its works to turn from ones wicked way. Not that common sense shouldnt tell you that already.
Tell me- if you still think thats what it takes, What wicked ways do you have to turn from?

@jleu777

@jleu777
"Repentance is a turning from a life of self and sin to a life of submission and obedience to Gods will. Repentance means sins perceived, sins abhorred and sins abandoned. This change is wrought by the power of God through the Holy Spirit, the word of truth (the Bible) being used as a means to convict the sinner of sin and lead him to forsake it and to resolve henceforth to walk before God in all truth and uprightness.
rojocarpathia 2 years ago
@jleu777

The best way to describe the groups of ppl in Mark 4, speaking of the parable of the sower, is group one is Christ Rejecters; group two is Worldly Believers; group three is Selfish Believers; group four is Soulwinning Believers.
bibleword 2 years ago
I'd agree with you completely with one small change-
instead of "the best way" i would say its the RIGHT way!
We are told of the 1st group "...lest they should BELIEVE and BE SAVED" Then we are told explicitly that all three other groups believed. Its not rocket science, but if you have an agenda to push you must muddy the waters.
jleu777 2 years ago
The first group is the ones that hear the gospel (the ones on the way side), but reject it. The second group is saved, but is quickly uprooted; in other words, drift out into the world. The third group is selfish believers who are caught up in the cares of life and have no time for doing service for God. The final group is the group our desire should be to be... soulwinners. The verse speaks of 100fold; could u imagine winning 100 ppl to Christ? Today it's rare for that to happen.
bibleword 2 years ago
Exactly, people are always conditioned to think "fruit of the spirit" because thats all people preach on anymore. soul winning is old fashioned to them.
How are you going to bring forth 30 fold love... 40 fold joy... How are you going to quantify those? How much joy counts as 1 joy? haha
100 is rare but possible. We've just gotten so lazy. Figure just 2 people in 365 days. Those are pretty good odds.
Assuming you had 50 years of christian service.
jleu777 2 years ago
It's rare because of Lordship Salvationists perverting the very Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then people use the damnable perverted Bible versions. No one is going to get saved that way. We need the King James Bible ONLY and salvation by grace ALONE and then we will see souls actually want to hear the gospel.

@bibleword Hum... the KJV was translated from Hebrew and Greek. Just like the rest. Your comment is that the KJV is the best? With that thinking it is not. The original would be the best. The Chinese have more true Christians than what the US does.Without repentance there is no forgiveness..

The KJB is not only the best Bible, it is the only Bible and the right Bible. Not to correct you on everything you think you might know, but we don't have the originals today.

Rev. 22:17

Choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Christians work because they're saved----not to be saved. that's what the catholic cult, mormons, muslims, and jw's do
filoIII 2 years ago
Christians work because they choose to do so. Regardless of how you choose to live, if you believe you are saved.
Works have nothing at all to do with salvation. Find me one verse where the bible says you can know someone is saved based on their lifestyle.

They will know you are Christians by your love.

It's pretty clear that they both think there's a distinction between the two and they're not synonymous with each other.
Paul thinks that faith alone suffices and that no additional works are required whereas James argues that one must have works in addition to faith and thus emphasizes the need for works. He states that faith without works is dead.
Having one doesn't mean you have both.

Paul and James seem to disagree on this.
(James 2:24 NRSV) You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.
(James 2:17 NRSV) So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.
(James 2:20 NRSV) Do you want to be shown, you senseless person, that faith apart from works is barren?
(James 2:14 NRSV) What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you?
AKAGl 2 years ago
Paul:
(Gal 2:16 NRSV) yet we know that a person is justified not by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ.
(Titus 3:5 NRSV) he saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done,
(Rom 3:28 NRSV) For we hold that a person is justified by faith apart from works prescribed by the law.
(Rom 4:5 NRSV) But to one who without works trusts him who justifies the ungodly, such faith is reckoned as righteousness.

The change of thought occurs at the point one realizes they must be born again, the act of repentance is praying a prayer of forgiveness, and inviting Christ into your life. If my people that are called by my name shall humble themselves, and turn from their wicked ways and pray though I my have pushed the contaxt I think it is applicable
libretnug 2 years ago

BTW... do you have things?
jleu777 2 years ago
it's not a matter of having things. it's a matter of being willing to give them up. holding loosely to the things of the world. good luck contradicting James2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.----this is saying 'you BELIEVE (know) there's a God . so what. big deal. the demons also believe. just believing that Jesus was real isn't gonna cut it. nor will works. believe in the path of salvation. not just believe in God.

The context of this james verse has been repeatedly shown.
And you need to find a new verse then, b/c that verse says, WHOSOEVER FORSAKETH NOT ALL HE HAS
NOT
whosoever is willing to forsake all he has.
And if you were willing you would do it. Whos stopping you? Only you or Jesus... and "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
But youll never give them up b/c you have not repented of all your sins. Quite being a stinking hypocrite and quit believing/teaching works
jleu777 2 years ago
sure do have things. but not everyone in the Bible was required to sell everything and give it to the poor. there are wicked lost men who KNOW they're not saved yet believe the gospel. they just dont want to receive it i dont think your reasoning will cut it.
filoIII 2 years ago
please do not be decieved by Ray comfort, salvation is of faith, NOT of Works lest any man should boast.
BUT TO HIM THAT WORKETH NOT, BUT BELIEVETH ON HIM THAT JUSTIFIETH THE UNGODLY, HIS FAITH IS COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSSNESS. -Romans 4:5
AndyLovesTruth 2 years ago
I could do this all day, but when are you going to start answering my veres in the video?
jleu777 2 years ago
Demons believe there is one God, they do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You better read that verse again.
Believe is defined in 1Jhn5:10-11 as trusting or relying upon the record God gave of his son. Believe does not incorperate works or a change of action because it is possible to believe and not work according to Rom4:4.
The bible mentions repentance and it also mentions baptism and following Gods laws. All important, but never is repentance of sins needed for salvation.
jleu777 2 years ago
They were already saved, thats why peter was telling them to be baptized int hat verse also.
afew verses ago peter just told them "whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." where does peter mention being saved in verse 38?
Their question was, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" So peter told them to repent and be baptized. In Acts 16:30 someone asks, "what MUST I do TO BE SAVED?" He's told the same thing the bible says the other 1000+ times- BELIEVE.
jleu777 2 years ago
The people in Acts 2:38 were NOT saved. They were the ones who Peter explains as crucifying the Messiah.
And in Acts 16:30 as soon as Paul tells them that they are out being baptized at midnight.
JTTNMinistries 2 years ago
Yeah... you should be baptized after your saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
You must be a campbellite?
jleu777 2 years ago
You can't proof text Acts 16:30 on this issue. Jesus said "Unless you likewise repent you WILL perish" Luke 13:3-5.
Not might perish, could perish, it is a promise. Unless you repent YE SHALL LIKEWISE perish!
JTTNMinistries 2 years ago
yeah your right LIKEWISE PERISH. Hat means they will perish in the same manner.
Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
Did everyone in Siloam go to hell? No they were killid by Romans, the same thing that happened to the Jews (who this was spoken to) in 70 ad.
And what about the other 100+ verses I "proof textd" at the end?
