  • What a horrible movie.

  • Hello, I am from Panama, this was the first series I saw from the American Civil War and since then I have been always interested in this subject.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I saw this with my class in fifth grade and it fired up my interest in Civil War history, which still remains a favorite era of history for me. It's a movie that shows that even though lines were drawn and sides were taken, nothing, especially in war, is ever black and white, right or wrong, good or evil, Yank or Reb. It's everything in between in the human experience.

  • ty for posting this! haven't seen it since the original airing! pity networks don't do this kind of series anymore? now all they have is cheap reality trash!

  • Thanks!

  • I LOVED this! Thank you SO much for putting it on! Merry upcoming Christmas all! My family and I might watch this on DVD over winter break! I really feel attached to all these people :)

God bless you for posting this. LONG LIVE THE USA AND THE CSA OF AMERICA! :D

  • This is a great movie. Its like Harry Potter; you get to the end, and you've been thinking all along how terrible the writing and the acting and the staging is, and then all of a sudden you realize how much you care about the characters.

  • This movie got a lot of reenactors into the Civil War hobby.

Although all the uniforms, weapons, dresses and clothes are completely FARBY, this is still a movie that brings back a lot of fantastic memories of my own childhood.

Knock it if you want, but this movie is still in my top 5 CW movies. Its way better than Gods & Generals and a bunch of others.

  • There you have it. the worst civil war movie about the luckiest son of a bitch that ever lived. A lowly farm boy somehow becomes a witness to almost every significant event of the civil war era. He comes out of it rich, married, unscathed, unaged, and unchanged as the people around him die, get their lives and homes destroyed and fade into the backdrop. Terrible, terrible movie.

  • @TheSchoolWorld I think you are right about the main character. However, while his acting was terrible, and his plotline bullshit, I think the supporting cast was somewhat decent. Definitely not the best civil war ever made.

  • @TheSchoolWorld Forrest Gump.

  • Thank you for posting this movie. I saw it when it originally aired in 1982 when I was 12 years old. From there I spent the next 2 1/2 years studying the Civil War. All these years later I still respect the histories of the Civil War. This brought back alot of memories. Thank you again.
