  • I would've sold it for 1 million $ obviously and I AM a true yankee fan but what he did is nice I guess lmao

  • i woulda fuckin' asked for $20M... have Jeter meet me half-way @ $10M and consider it a deal.

  • What a generous gesture on the part of this young man. He's as generous as Jeter himself. Well done!!

  • so he got to be front and center to watch the tigers beat that ass? hahaha, serves him right, dumbass fatty.

  • this is a true fan right here which most of you haters aren't

  • Stupid fatty

  • this guy is a total moron, jeter doesnt give 2 shits about this guy, players would go on strike in a heartbeat if they didnt get the money they wanted, you bet your ass you should sell that fuckin ball.

  • Classy.

  • I got the 3,000 hits hat for my birthday.

  • If Jeter were drafted by Houston and Biggio by the Yankees,I'll give you one guess as to whom the Yankee fans would believe to be the better player.

  • What a contrast. On one hand you have a classy fan, who doesn't think of himself and gives the ball away...despite the fact that ball could have made him rich. On the other hand, you have a selfish baseball player who gave the fan nothing in return and could hardly muster a weak smile when posing for photographs with that fan. And then he has the gall to say how much that fan owes his girlfriend. It goes to show that money can't buy class.

  • i like that "its about a milestone."

  • when derek jeter hit the ball

  • looks like alien is poping out of his chest

  • wait so what kind of seats did this guy get again? and how much usually are those seats for just one game?

  • @shimorishiak The Yankees gave him four luxury box seats for all 32 remaining regular season games, as well as potential playoff and World Series games, worth about a total of $40,000. Along with autographs from many if not all of the Yankees players. Tickets combine with autographs I'd estimate his winnings to be close to 100-125k. Amazing thing is he could have asked for upwards of $1,000,000 and the Yankees would have paid it. If not some crazed fan would have. Class Act!

  • Go Yankees!! ^^

  • You are an amazing man my friend, be proud....

  • Big News

  • i saw the ball and ... instinct, MINE MINE MINE!

  • I'd want mone I don't like baseball.

  • i think mitchell modell gave this guy a job cause of this ...lucky fuck

  • that's a really cool guy, good for him for not choosing money over being a sport...

  • i think u should change the title because i was confused as to what i was watching at first, because u didnt even mention 3000th hit until kinda far in to the video. but great video

  • This guy is obscenely stupid.

  • @PhazonElitist Why is he stupid? Because he's not a parasite like you? Do you happen to work on Wall Street by any chance?

  • @Mangina9000 No, actually, I happen to be stressed, tired and exploited like you probably are. I can't wait to return to my 14 hour work day tomorrow at 3 AM that pays barely above minimum wage. The world is controlled by sociopaths, and the only way to live without constantly worrying about money or becoming homeless is to act like one. Do you think selling a ball is the worst thing I would do? I would rape my mother if it actually paid well, fuck her, I need the money.

  • @PhazonElitist God. I miss New York.

  • @PhazonElitist No, you have it the other way around.

  • The kid could've bought a house w/that ball down south and lived the life mortgage free w/still a ton of loot to live off of....There's a reaon nice guys finish last

  • @DurskMan We Americans are so caught up in our wealth. Hoard, hoard, hoard, get, get, get ! With our Bigger fatter bank accounts, and retirement plans. The truth is that our greed will kill us inside. Just as many people commit suicide by jumping off the Coronado Bridge in San Diego (in spite of wealth), as off the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. Why don't you sell one of your two three cars, and help someone who is starving to death. You will be much happier with yourself.

  • He's an idiot, he should've taken the money...can't pay your bills and rent with a baseball card and season tix

  • he should have got tickets for life

  • All I wouldve asked for in return, if it was me, would be Dugout (ot box seats) for the rest of my life...nothing more, nothing less, just 2 dugout tickets forever

  • @KingOfKingz819 *not

  • I dont get it , all he did was got a ball and gave it back ? whats so good about that ?

  • @TheWaster112 i think it was jeters 3,000 home run ball

  • REAL TING DIS

    NAH GRABBA

STRICTLY HIGH GRADE INA MI WIZZLA

  • I have seen far more honest and accurate comments below these two top comments. I wonder if it is the same 2 people who keep boosting their B.S. to get up there. Fact is this guy was stupid. Fact is some rich Yankees fan would have gladly bought the ball. I am 100% sure this guy will regret this, it is only a matter of time. Jeter should have manned up and paid a fair market value to the guy, saying "no no, take the money, you are a good person for wanting to give this to me for free." Nope...

  • Jeter should have shown some class and given the kid of stash of cash and insisted that he take it. Jeter's sittin on millions and this kid could have changed his life money-wise had he sold that ball. Jeter should have recognized that and said, "look kid, you're a class-act but you're taking 250k for that ball like it or not. But clearly Jeter has no class.

  • @nolan318 Did you know every year he pays for a student from his hometown to attend all four years of college? He pays for their room, board, and books for any college that they apply and accepted into. Now tell me that he's just sitting on millions not doing anything. Do your research before you make claims that hold no valor.

  • If i were caught the ball i would of asked for $3 million in cash and free tickets and free parking

  • i dont like the yankees because they take the best players and offer them alot of money and if they loved basball they would play on any team not caring about how much money theyre getting paid, and the seats are so expensive because of that .

    Such a good man ^

  • @1lui2

The seats are expensive because they know someone at some time will pay for them, whether it's an individual or corporation. As long as they consistantly compete there will be some kind of demand. But cheap seats can be found right around the area where this kid caught the ball. As far as the Yankees taking the best players, maybe it's because a lot of players want to play for the Yankees and have a good chance to reach the playoffs and maybe even win a World Series.

  • ... and Uncle Scam taxed this guy on those free seats. Feds.

  • this guy has his head on straight dj is just another human with some talents not a god, if i were dj i would want that ball too and if i was that guy i would want that ball too but i would give it up just to meet dj and the team. i wouldnt be a jerk and try to milk it, that ball was worth wat he got

  • This is a class act move. No other way to say it.

  • @cornlamp cool man

  • Just wondering how do people verify a ball like this or any special ball anyway? Is there a unique number printed on each baseball or do u need video proof of you catching the ball? Say u wanted to buy a ball like this from someone. How do u know theyre not selling u another ball?

  • @DatSmellsStinkowiff yes there were several balls that were marked for his 3000 hits. Same as when a player gets near a 400HR milestone or 500 HR milestone.

  • True Yankee fan.

  • Yeah but he would`ve been an even NICER guy if he`d looked around and found a CHILD to give this million dollar ball to, to bat around the yard and stick in the closet or lose down the sewer or some such.

  • ask me what i want i woulda said a million bucks cash

  • I met him a few days after this happened, genuine nice guy. Christian you will get yours for being a true Yankee fan - not everyone has to be a greedy SOB. Go Christian !

  • he should get lifetime season tickets..cuz that ball is worth millions in future!!

  • aww this guy was sucha sweetheart!

  • @wilkinsvqh what flick stop being so damn stupid

  • he is nice top comments suck dick

  • @Tc7961

    so true

  • good man

  • He is the nicest guy on earth i swear

  • God bless this guy, and all u people can suck it in top comments, he could have sold the ball on ebay for 1 million, but as he said, its not about the money. And at least he was generous b/c all he asked for was a meet a greet with Derek, and the NYY organization noticed him for that so they gave 2500 seats for four because he shows some class unlike u scums.

  • @Tc7961 God bless America ... God bless this guy ... God bless YOUR ASS ...

  • This is crazy. Christian Lopez is a greater man than i will ever be. theres no way i could give it away for nothing, i prob woulda asked for a cool million. props to christian.

  • The seats he has r on the third base line in the out field. The Yankees should of gave him better seats. I was sitting right by him he is a very nice person. In the seats he has u get all of this food 4 free. He was giving water 2 fans so they do not have 2 spend money on very expensive Yankee stadium prices.

  • hes a dumbass

  • i know him i live in highland mills

  • I would have put it on E-bay and seen what it was worth???? it was a nice jester, by Christian, and his name will go down in history either way. The Yankees, should give him next season tickets for him & his dad

  • Wow, I can't believe all these negative comments. Is it really that hard to believe that

there are decent people in the world who do the right thing and leave money out of their decisions???

Christian Lopez is the epitome of a good and decent human being.

  • i hate yankees

  • gabrial iglesias

  • fuck all u people!!!!! u are all the greedy ones!!! just like he said its about a milestone! i to would have gave him the ball!!! fuck u all!!!

  • He's still young and naive. Something tells me regret is going to catch up and bite him on his debt-ridden arse later in life.

  • id keep the ball and go play baseball lol

  • "It's not about the money it's about a milestone, i'm not going to take that away from him"....he's confusing the ball with the record. I'm sure Jeter would be deprived if he didn't have that ball along with the thousands of other souvenirs he has in a storeroom somewhere. Souvenirs are for fans, million dollar salaries are for players. Lopez is a poor excuse for a fan.

  • If a Jew had caught the ball and wanted to be paid what it was worth on the open market, all the remarks on this page all would have been anti-Semitic.

  • @SatchmoSings not necessarily

  • Wait wait wait... Jeter says "he got his ticket from his girlfriend so he owes here quite a bit, and will be paying her back for quite some time." Really? He could have sold that ball for 200k+++ And he gave it to you for free? Wait, so you owe him big time, like you will be paying him back for quite some time right?" No? Oh, you, wait no, the Yankees gave him empty box seats and some hot dogs??? Wow, fuck you Mr. Jeter. Fuck you in your rich and greedy ass.

  • @kidballistic hey dumbass, Jeter never asked for it 1, he gave it back to him. and 2. oh yeah hes soooo greedy he just hit his 3000th hit and completed a milestone. 28th player in over 150+ baseball seasons. do the math.

  • Yea, fuck that shit. Jeter is plenty rich, paid for by the fans, that he could buy the ball if he wanted it for a fair open market price. The rich keep getting richer while the rest of us are heading towards slavery. This guy was dumb, or already rich. Personally I would have gouged Jeter or sold it on e-bay for 200+k to some RICH Yankee's fan.

  • if you are happy...who needs money??

  • Christian Lopez may not be as confident, rich, or successful as Derek Jeter, but at the end of the day, he deserves respect for being a good man.

Not so sure about Derek. Any word yet on whether he's reached out to Lopez?

  • Any word from Derek Jeter yet about doing the right thing and giving the poor (literally) Christian Lopez fair market value for his gift?

Or is he hoping the Yankees will take care of that for him. too, like they have taken care of everything else for him in his adult life.

Epic failure of responsibility by Derek.

  • the real problem is that stupid people take the game too seriously and forget that it's all about BUSINESS!! Everybody in baseball makes money hand over fist except the fans. It's mind-shattering how Lopez thinks it's about anything else but the money. I can't get over his flabbergasting idiocy.

  • let's just get this straight, "it's not about money, it's about the milestone" what???! hello! it's all about the money. If nobody will say it, then I will. Lopez is not very bright, in fact he is very dim-witted!

  • jeter chuckling at :22 and thinking what a putz lopez is

  • ..i would've asked for the money and a date with Minka Kelly :)

  • Just another example of our society promoting stupidity. A person with over $100,000 in loans hands over a baseball worth a fortune to a MULTI MILLIONAIRE Athlete. Gee, how would Jeter ever have made it through his difficult life without a baseball?

  • maybe the kid should have kept the ball and invited jeter over to his apartment once a year to have a beer and look at the ball. ha ha ha ha ha

  • must give quarter million dollar ball to multimillionaire. do not pass go, do not collect 250k

  • @sutton123454

Every time i catch a $250K+ Baseball i always try to return it to the poor millionaire athlete who hit it :')

  • If I was a Yankee fan or a fat guy i'd kill myself

  • first yankee to ever get 3000 hit by a man that is adored by any yankee fan. this ball is worth more than the $250k. i would have put this on ebay. the kid could of gotten endorsement deals leading to the sale of the ball including ebay and maybe some type of job offer from a company that wants to ride the good advertising. when all is said and done and all the dust has settled, he probably would have gotten $500k plus a job.

  • I can't believe the negative reaction this is getting. He chose to give the ball back because he is a better person than most of us. Besides this guy is getting so much stuff. Yankee tickets and merch aside, miller highlife has said they will cover his taxes on all that stuff. Thats around 14k. He got an 09 world series ring, theres a yankee auction and he is getting a portion of what they make. and a sponser of the yanks is giving him 25k towards his student loans. All that and he's a good guy.

  • Christian should thought to himself before giving up the ball, "Imagine all the double quarter pounders with cheese I could buy." I think he would of changed his mind. lol

  • U wonder if Derek told him, Oh ya, by the way, I'm not showing up fo the All-Star game. After the ball was returned. Very dissapointed in the All-Star game and i'm not the only one!!!!

  • @2021Evolutions the yankees are a shameful bunch. they coerced this poor kid into mortgaging his life away. if tis "Christian" was from steiner sports or named steinman or Steinberg i am sure he'd have hocked it for top dollar

  • Bottom line "Christian" was an honest man and duped by the brilliant profit making machine that is the Yankees. If his name was "Steiner" of Steiner Sports or shoot even "Steinman" or "Steinberg" I am sure he would have had his lawyers fly into Yankee Stadium by helicopter within moments of number 3000 to hock the ball for top $...Its the nature of us as a people that needs to change. We are sold lie after lie and we buy 'em out of honour &loyalty. This nice young man was duped by big business

  • This is so wrong on so many levels. The yankees and other sports franchises gauge the public on tickets, souvenirs, concessions, parking, etc. Here is one chance for a member of the public to get something back, and he is immediately hustled away by security, with no chance to get advice from a family member or a lawyer, he is put on the spot to make a life altering decision to give up a negotiable asset which he owned. In return the yankees gave him empty box seats which they couldn't sell.

  • @darius595 First of all, security hustled him away so he wouldn't get mobbed for the ball, not so they could force him into making a decision as to what to do with the ball. Second, that was HIS choice, no one forced him to make that...or any....decision right then and there, he could have spoke up and told them if he wanted to think about it. But he didn't want/need to. He knew what he was doing with that ball before he ever had a chance to get it. Did what he thought was right...so it was.

  • @gracethedog48 he did get mobbed for the ball...by security. it may be his choice, but it was a very poor choice. why is giving a ball to a multimillionaire such a heroic act? why does jeter have a greater stake to the ball than lopez? they should be at the very least equal partners in the baseball play. why doesn't the pitcher have an equal stake as well? the whole thing is ludicrous. jeter or his heirs will probably sell the ball at some point in a few years anyway.

  • @darius595 Well, no matter how bad you disagree with him, it was his choice and he made the choice that was right for him. See, believe it or not, there are some out there that aren't bloodsuckers for every dollar they can make..they do what's right for them. And really, "why does jeter have a greater stake to the ball than lopez"? You don't really need a response on that one.....do you?

  • @gracethedog48 yes, you are right, there are some out there that aren't bloodsuckers for every dollar they can make. unfortunately, jeter is one of the bloodsuckeres out for every dollar he can make. you are right also, i don't need a response on the question of "'why does jeter have a greater stake to the ball than lopez"...the answver is lopez has the greater stake. jeter has the record, no question about it, but the ball belongs to the fan who catches it, the same as any home run ball.

  • @darius595 I don't disagree with you about jeter....actually I couldn't agree more. Yes you have a point about the ball. But obviously this guy is a fan of not only the yankees and the game of baseball, but of the tradition and history of baseball. Jeter may sell it, who knows, but for me it's hard to rip a guy for making a decision he thought was right. I personally would have held out for all I could have gotten for it. But I'm not a fan of the game...and especially the yankees.

  • @gracethedog48 i agree with most of what you said. I'm not really ripping the guy, obviously he's a super fan of the yankees. I just think he should be given at least 24 hours to decide what he wanted to do. but who knows, maybe he had it all thought out to begin with: i'm going to catch the ball and i'm going to immediately give it back. wouldn't a super fan want to at least have the ball on his mantlepiece to admire with his friends and family for at least one eveinng?

  • @darius595 I hear ya, get a few pics with the ball and whatnot. Tell Derek he has to come over and pick it up......and don't forget my money!

  • @darius595

    Well said.

  • @darius595 I agree with you and the other mistake he made this way is that he could have sold the ball, paid the taxes and had money left over.

Now he has to pay taxes on the gifts the Yankees want to give him so it will still cost him out-of-pocket; a big mistake on so many levels.

  • @darius595 They gave him from front row seats for the rest of the season, as well as the post season, you're telling me he got nothing back? He got to meet Derek Jeter, he has his own baseball card, he's been interviewed on YES during a couple of games now, and he's recognized by players and just baseball in general as a good guy, it's not about the money, it's about the experience, and by the way, the "empty box seats" are first row, they can't sell because they're so expensive.

  • @H3RoYaL well, fuck he deserved it. I give mad props to him giving it back. He could've mad so much more money. but he's a true fan. you think the Yankees isn't going to give him anything? He gave Derek Jeter, the Yankee's captain, his 3000th hit. ofcourse he's not going to get nothing in return

  • @darius595 Did I also mention it included free parking for the rest of season? Calm down, and stop being jealous of him because it could've happened to anybody sitting in homerun territory, and I'm sure he had a lawyer, he sold fucking cell phones for a living. I can agree that the Yankees look for every excuse to make money, but how else do they pay off their expenses? Stop being jealous, and criticizing the Yankees for no reason because at the end of the day, it's just a 7-10 dollar baseball.

  • @H3RoYaL you made a some good points, i guess if lopez is happy with his decision a year from now or after his free tickets and parking run out then i guess he made the right call. But who cares about the yankees expenses...they overpay a lot of underperforming athletes, like most sports franchises.

  • @darius595 I mean originally he wanted a signed baseball by Derek Jeter and a chance to meet him, instead his life changed completely, he got a new job, he's practically famous, he did get to meet Jeter, and he got free front row tickets for the rest of the season including the post season, so it's about the experience, and the reason why he was carried off by sercurity was because once the baseball is in the stands, it's fair game anyone could take it, and they took him for his own safety.

  • @darius595 Why does everything have to be so serious.. He really is a nice guy, I don't go with the crowd alot, but he SEEMS really nice. He wanted to give the ball back to Jeter, not many people would do that for nothing. I mean I'm sure he knew they were going to give him something in return. If it happened to you, you would want a lawyers advice because you want money? Typical American greed...

  • Christian Lopez's parents are getting lots of credit for teaching their son to do the right thing.

Shouldn't Derek Jeter's parents get credit too, for teaching Derek to treat someone who gives you their life savings in front of the world like a loser?

I think Christian Lopez made a mistake, but he at least deserved to be looked in the eye and thanked with sincerity by Derek.

    This is just wrong.

  • That is one great decision, how would you feel if they took your 1ST mLB hit ball? Christtian Lopez Did the right thing by giving it back and the Yankees by rewarding him.

  • I think Jeter earned that ball but there's no way in hell he would've gotten back from me without giving me what I know,he know, and the Yankee's know that ball is worth.I don't know if the guy will regret this decision one day but when those bills are piling up and he needs money,I'm sure this decision will cross his mind probably more than a couple of times.

  • This guy is a fucking IDIOT!!!! I respect what he did but at the end of the day it was beyond stupid. His decision would be more understandable if he didn't need the money but since he does need the money,it make his decision even more stupid.I know he has bills and I read that he said he still owes on student loans. The money from that ball could've definitely paid them off.I hope he makes smarter decisions from now because that has to be the dumbest one he's ever made.

  • ...now this kid has to pay taxes for the tickets lol.. lame.. he should've kept the ball and waited for the offers...

..I would've asked for 2 million..or more.. The yanks are loaded they can afford it..

  • The IRS is going after him now. Welcome to America.

  • @TELEVISIONARCHIVES Ha..Ha.. no good deed goes unpunished!

  • His Hispanics heritage shows the good heart of Mr. Lopez, i am sure many others would have kept the ball which is probably worth over a million dollars!!!!!

  • AUCTION BABY!!!

  • if Christian was around the age of 60, omg.. The Yankees would offer him tickets for life

  • its obvious he's young and too bad no one gave him guidance, if he turned around and sold the ball, no one would've cared, its just business just like jeter's 51 mil contract

  • schizowallflower ..gee your positive,, NOT.. you assume people would break into his house..that's whay you be smart and protect it.. period.. Jeter deserves props for what he accomplished..but im not talking about him.. im talking about keeping the ball, period.. and as a fan, this lil kid is naive... period..

  • I would have given the ball back on my own decision without being grabbed and asked what I wanted in exchange for it. I'd have taken a minute to appreciate the ball and then get Jeter's attention to give it to him. Sure, it's a milestone and it's worth a lot of money to some people, but to me it's just a baseball and in the long run there's nothing special about it, what's special is the play, the event, not the ball.

Jeter deserves to have the ball to show off with all of his other stuff.

  • @schizowallflower thatd be your right but htis kid was pressured. youre entitled to your stupidity. this kid was coerced into his. if lopez or anyone in his family gets cancer and needs treatment not covered by shit insurance lets see if the yanks or jeter say "its only money" lets help the kid. your naivety is sweet but foolish

  • subz 4 subzz messege me

  • should of kept the ball 500 000 dollars to jeter is like 1000 dollars to an average person.

  • ..I would;ve asked to meet Minka Kelly,, Jeter's girl friend lol.. :) than ask for a date with her instead of Jeter's autograph.. :)

  • ..if they asked me what do I want for the ball,, id say well,... free pizzia for two years from Pizza Hutt... free movies for life from any movie theater in Colorado.. 5 million dollars,, and Yankees seasons tickets for the next 5 years.. this kid is too easy! lol...

  • ..security snatched him and walked him up the stairs..and asked, "what do you want?"..LMAOO the Yankees really are the evil empire..lol that's what the mafia does...lol..

    ...GO YANKEES ! :)

  • @moviebuff383 the mafia would be more subtle than the yankees

  • ramrod20042000 as much as i love the Yankees and Jeter,, you are 100% correct.. sports is about money, period..and it's entertainment.. all of them are over paid, on drugs and drunks who cheat on thier wives... and everyone knows that..

...I would've at least held onto the ball for a week and thought about it, instead of rushing into what this kid did..when you listen to this kid talk about what he did, he's so naive and looking to be the 'good hearted boy'..lame lol..

  • @moviebuff383 if this kid was named Steiner, (steiner sports) shooot or steinman or steinberg for that matter he would have had his lawyers helicopter into yankee stadium within minutes to hock the ball. kids naive

  • ..hey got 3 bats, 3 balls, 3 jerseys all signed by Jeter..and box office seats for the rest of the season....hmm

..or he could've kept the ball...WTF!!! lol.. if i caught it, i would've asked for an escourt out of the stadium and went home lol.. and put it in a glass case..for yeas :) ...this lil kid is naive

  • @moviebuff383 And then have his house broken into, and if here's there, jumped, and then the ball stolen and sold for tons of money on eBay where there's probably going to be a lot of knock-offs or scam balls going for high prices.

Jeter deserves to have the ball he hit to show off with all of his other trophies. If you were Jeter you'd probably want to be able to wake up in the morning and stare at the ball saying, "man, I broke a record with this." Christian Lopez thought he should as well.

  • @schizowallflower If jeter wanted the ball from me, he could have paid me 1 million dollars.

  • tarison and ramrod shut the fuck up, youre like 6 year olds, lopez is a very selfless man and defines the word true fan, but he caught the ball its his decision what he does with it, and jeter didnt seem to really care that he got the ball, it just something to take up more space on his trohy shelf.

  • @spyder775 Really? Ramrod and I have been having a nice civil debate without hurling insults or swearing at each other and WE'RE the ones acting like 6 year olds? Really?

  • @spyder775 mmm. he was coerced. it wasnt his decision. they preyed upon his loyalties never giving hm an opportunity to consult with his parents, family, lawyer etc. in my opinion it was borderline illegal rushing the kid away form the game and literally strong arming him.yankee security arent exactly cuddly

  • ..she should've hung onto it for at least a couple years..ask for 2 mil :)

  • Lopez you made a bad rash decision that you will regret the rest of you life. 250 to 500 thousand? You just won the lottery then torn up the winning ticket!

  • Wow, all of these people have no sense of integrity. Just because Jeter is rich, it's fair to squeeze ridiculous amounts of money out of him for something he earned? The guy didn't earn the ball, he just got lucky and happened to end up with it, giving it to Jeter was the right thing to do and the Yankees did a good thing by rewarding him the way they did.

  • @tarison13 You pay big money to the Yankees for seats, food and parking. Derek Jeter makes 105 thousand a game. If you catch a foul ball or homerun, that now is your property. This guy will regret this rushed decision the rest of his life. At least take a day or two to think about it.

  • @ramrod20042000 Such a greedy mentality. Derek Jeter busted his ass for 17 years to reach this milestone and busted his ass for the very Yankee fans who are calling this guy an idiot, he deserves that ball. The ticket price doesn't make you deserving of it. You really think the money you paid for the ticket is equal to the hard work and sacrifice that Jeter has made to reach 3,000? This sense of entitlement is why everyone hates us (Americans).

  • @tarison13 You sound like Robert De Niro from "The Fan". Derek Jeter has that style of play because that is how his father rised him to play. This is his job and he plays for his paycheck first. The better he plays the bigger the contract! "The fans...The fans"? You got to be kidding me!

  • @ramrod20042000 Way to miss the point. The point is that, regardless of his motivations, Jeter busted his ass to earn that milestone, he deserves the ball because he earned it. period. And you paying the price of a ticket and having the ball land near you out of sheer dumb luck does not equal the hard work and sacrifice made by Jeter. He earned it, the fan didn't.

  • @tarison13 You are all wrong! Jeter earns his awards and paycheck. If a fan catches a homerun or foul ball. MLB states that they "earned: the ball. Why do people bring gloves to the ballpark for? Hoping to catch a souvenir to take home.

  • @ramrod20042000 saying that Jeter earned the milestone but not the ball is just disingenuous. That's like winning a competition and the trophy being given to some random person that just happened to be there.

  • @tarison13 do you understand property law? the ball belongs to the fan, it is in the bylaws. bottom line ball was owned by the fan and the yanks coerced him wth their big guards into giving it to them for what amounts to jack shit in comparison to what it was worth.if someone from steiner sports, or i bet any steinman or steinberg had caught the ball they wouldve had their lawyers on their phone asap.this "Christian" sap was duped by big biz.at a minimum wake up and read up on property rights

  • @tarison13 u joking?out of your mind? the type of people that run your country& are in,im assuming ur a GOP supporter, wouldve called their lawyers&fought for top$.blind loyalty is whats sold to dopey yanks like urself by big corps while they can shit on u,annihilate ur underclass with war after war&sell their tainted brand of honor&democracy (corporatism)across the globe.europeans(im european) "hate" u for precisely this reason, not what u said.kid was coerced&his loyalties used against him.

  • @newjerseydev No, not a GOP supporter, Obama supporter and I have no loyalty to the Yankees. In fact i hate the Yankees with a passion. I don't believe Jeter should get the ball out of some sense of loyalty to Derek Jeter, I think he should get it because he earned it and it's the right thing to do.

  • @tarison13 one million dollars is less than pocket change for the yankees multi-billion dollar organization. lopez' decision wasn't an act of integrity, it was an act of stupidity. people are going to forget about him over the next few weeks... but hey....at least he got some tickets....right?

  • @thisguyyyable23 so again, you're working on the premise that Just because Jeter is rich, it's fair to squeeze ridiculous amounts of money out of him and the Yankee organization for something he earned.

  • @tarison13 500 thousand dollars (the amount the ball was worth) is not even close to a ridiculous amount of money for derek jeter or the yankees organization. have u even seen the yankees' payroll?? you're crazy if you're willing to give away a lottery ticket like that. i'm pretty sure jeter would sleep easy at night without his 3000 hit ball. damn, at least the yanks could pay of his student loans

  • @thisguyyyable23 $500 thousand is a lot of money to anyone. And it's a matter of principle. I don't care if the ball is worth $3 or $3 million, Jeter earned it and shouldn't have to pay for it.

  • @tarison13 i'm a yankee fan, but i'm not a "die-hard" one. die-hard fans and regular fans spend a whopping amount of money on tickets, souvenirs, and food. they also take time out of their day to watch games. if it wasn't for the fans spending money, professional sports wouldn't be popular. jeter may work hard, but the fans should receive credit too. without the fans, pro -sports wouldn't exist. i understand lopez' intentions, but shit....who the fuck would give up 500k like that

  • @tarison13 excuse me do u understand the law? the ball is the property, yes as an american u should understand what private property is, of the young man.balls caught in the stands BELONG to the fan that retrieves them.to coerce him to hand the ball over for pennies is dishonest and illegal in my opinion. legally he should have had the right to speak with an attorney.this is an ugly world and the yankees are a business who give two shits about us. wake up.the only theft here was by the yanks

  • @newjerseydev There is often a difference between something being legal and something being morally right. Legally the fan had a right to keep the ball, yes. But the truth is that he didn't earn it and doesn't really deserve it.

  • @tarison13 before you start throwing words around like "earned" and "integrity" think about other careers where people actually earn respect by saving others and
