Special permits? Only in certain states. And I hate to tell them, but I see five axles (one less than this has) going down the road at 50-55 tons every day during harvest, and I've been at 53.
The truck's not any more expensive than any other, it's the trailer that's expensive.
Some TV exec wanted to make their self feel important with this one.
"its aerodynamic design improves fuel efficiency, while its 12 litre engine" . . . pissing in wind me thinks improving the aero design with that lump.
ok but there is places in america such as michigan where the more axles you have the more weight some trucks are 75 or 100 ton or more perfectly legal. in addition
on the i 80/ i 90 corridor coast to coast you can run 2 48/ 53 ft trailers , 3 /28 ft trailers
for a total length 0f up to 125 feet and 60 tons and u can drives them up to 65 mph
but i will disagree on this point ,power, hands down mercedes engines dont have the torque that a caterpillar or detroit of the same horsepower range, besides in europe you only drive 80 k (53 mph est)per hour. In the us there r places u can drive 75 mph or higher similarly there are hills on the autobahn of 9 percent or higher and no truck passing, in the us we have trucks from the factory w 700 horse power lkie u but our engines have more torque plus its all in the gear ratio. just a thought
i agree with efendulov. i was in europe in 1996 and i drove a daimler benz 0303 bus and i gotta tell u it had a pneumatic shifter (sequential similar to an indy car) and this was made in 1990. i ve driven late model american trucks and nothing comes close to that except for the new volvo 7 series with an automatic 12 speed that u can shift manually.
Lol, America has small ass trucks and trailers. 45 tonnes? Come on...come to Sweden and drive our 25.25 meter long combinations...pulled by a Scania R730 V8 :) Legal weight of 60 tonnes :)
@freedetheman if scanias are so great, than why do Aussies use American trucks to pull road trains?that would be 3 long trailers with multiple axles, something you would'nt see much of in Europe.
Nice Rig Mate! we Run up too 170 tonne rig's Triple Road Trains out here downunder! But I'm mainly doing Double and single work there's in afew Days Getting a new Cloumbia next week looking forward to it I'd been Running a Century Class for around 13 yrs before going on to the Buses for the passes 4 yrs but now back into chasing the white line again lol Cant wait!! miss it so,so much.. @MegaTaurus777 mmm i think being an airforce pilot would be a way better job than the one does three douchbags have.. flying trough the sky at mach 3 or even 4 on a multimillion dollar pice of awesomenes.... just saying.
The one thing your expensive truck doesn't have is a side shifter. You should really check it out. It makes imposable maneuvering easy!!!
just type side shifter in the search
This invention will lift the trailer in the air about six inches off the ground and then shift the trailer upto 180 degrees. You can get in and out of any tight space
@MegaTaurus777 Any "Dream Job" you thin of has alot more work to it then you see. Look at the other top gears and you can see the us top gear sucks aussie top gear is ok and uk top gear is well make but is getting to the point where instead of being host they are acting.
i spent 2 years driving a new T2000,...total junk after 300 thousand miles, fiberglass and ABS body panels/aero skirts rattle loose, the entire interior rattled and squeaked,i was constantly having to tighten everything down from everyday road use,the truck was VERY well maintained...i traded it in on a new KW W900,which is easily best truck ive ever owned
@Firelife3 are you kidding? 90,000 lbs isn't heavy? the average car is 3,000
The truck isn't a heavy hauler moving a oversize load but for a typical truck and (dry van) trailer 45-ton is heavy when 40-ton is most weight one can gross without a permit (in the US).
@Firelife3 we can have upwards of 80 tons (160,000 lbs) but anything over 40 tons is overweight and requires permits not to mention a trailer with more than two axles. But that's heavy haul, 40-ton and less is standard general freight weight.
@Firelife3 A trailer with 5 axles ain't needed necessarily, 4 is enough, even 3 or 2 if the truck itself has 4 or 5 axles for the max. 60t GVW. Anyway, for freight transportation the 5-axle trailer (mostly with single wheels) is common due to it allows more tolerance to share the payload between the truck (rigid) and its trailer. The payloads vary a lot depending on the purpose of course, e.g. a FRC equipped 25.25m combo only takes ca. 35t as a payload whereas it can be 45t in certain cases.
Why can't we just know? Very good question, worthy of St. Thomas Aquinas. God knows more about us than we know about ourselves. Why God created us? God didn't have to create man or anything. God wanted to create us. Because it is not out of necessity, but out of God's free will, it is impossible to know this through natural reason. Man has to tell woman that he loves her to make it possible for her to give him yes or no as an answer. So God had to revealed to us our supernatural goal, it is God
man seriously kenworth are ok but doing a clutch job or even going under there soo many cross members cant do a grease job without saying fuckin peice of shit kenworth, the worst is international hands down
@docslimm american trucks with trailer are usually 75 feet, the trailer is about 53 feet. i think what he means here is trailer is 75 feet. they just need a permit to drive wide load trucks and long trucks its just a regulation, but i have seen 120 feet trailors on the road(fedex, ups..) on street
@yoshihawv Yes there is ,I work for the state, the lowboy I drive is 75 feet long, and we haul some equipment is access of 100 thousand pounds, not including the weight of the truck its self.
@acethebunny being a trucker i can tell you they dont cost 7 million that truck is probably worth between 154,000-165,000 thousand as for the trailer itself its probably 45,000-60,000 but its whats in the trailer all the electronics that probably make it worth so much
"yeah they just plug a laptop in and fixes it no need for tools anymore" "oh right yeah ofcourse, because you dont need tools to replace a broken part"
@buttonpusher37 a B double is 1 1/2 trailers together. As far as long trucks go, a B double is still only a baby by Australian standards. In the more remote areas, they can pull 3, 4, and sometimes even more full length 40 foot trailers

... hes got the best job in the world? He drives a T2000 KW with (im guessin 12 liter) Driptroit. Now give me a long black needlenose Pete with a KTA Cummins and a little wrenching time.... then we'll talk.
The trailer is 6.950.000 the truck is the 50k and as for being over length? im 75.5 bumper to bumper and weigh in excess of 60tons sometimes . drop that trailer and drive away and he's just another driver...

Kenworth and peterbuilt are good trucks. I like how they label all the wires.

... hes got the best job in the world? He drives a T2000 KW with (im guessin 12 liter) Driptroit. Now give me a long black needlenose Pete with a KTA Cummins and a little wrenching time.... then we'll talk.

Nice truck full of gadgets but nowhere near as scary as a roadtrain on a dirt road coming toward you.
Tapecutter59 2 years ago 3
The trailer is 6.950.000 the truck is the 50k and as for being over length? im 75.5 bumper to bumper and weigh in excess of 60tons sometimes . drop that trailer and drive away and he's just another driver...

only thing i want to know is how big is the alternater and how many batteries
Nate721100 2 years ago 2
The same as any other truck on the highway ..there is a generator built into the trailer, that T2000 is just like any other KW rolling down the road.
ding0925 2 years ago 2
@Nate721100 It's just a normal Kenworth. The production trailer runs off of shore power or rented generators when parked at locations.
