Republicans no longer represent the party of fiscal conservatism, they only represent religious conservatism (and frankly, they do a terrible job at that also). Democrats are FAR more fiscally conservative nowadays than Republicans, because Republicans have to spend huge amounts of money in an attempt to impose their religion on other people. For this reason they'll lose in 2012.

Democrats have controlled (liberal) California forever, they have always had the majority in gov. they spend the money and raise the taxes. The welfare fraud and waste there is appauling. I can think of a much more recent REPUBLICAN president (cough Bush) that did much worse things than LBJ. If you want to honor your best friend, you'd realize that republicans, not democrats, are now the party in support of war. If they had their way, we'd be at war for the next 100 years. Think about your friend next time you vote for a republican and you'll think twice. Things have changed. Leave LBJ in the past and honor your friend now by doing the right thing and voting for peace.

You are wrong to use leftist Arnold Schwarzenegger as an example of a typical republican. I am not going to fall for that. Was FDR a fiscal conservative? Lyndon Johnson? Jimmy Carter? Barack Obama? Bill Clinton only became fiscally conservative after he realized how popular fiscal conservatism was in the the polls. 1. Arnold took over California after the previous govornor Gray Davis (a 'moderate democrat') was actually *recalled* for doing so horribly.
2. He succeeded in fixing the mess until the unions mobilized. He was popular enough to be re-elected handily.
3. He isn't a conservative republican. He moved left & adopted liberal-leaning policies as a moderate-centrist in a democrat stronghold.
4. Your party is no less ideological, as you demonstrate by saying 'religious' instead of 'social'.

like him or not, morris is a master at reading political moves and social moods and interpreting the reactions. he also has access to sources of info that shows a lot of the goings on behind the curtains that are the real power plays where the dems and republicans vie for power. so if u r rooting for one side of the other, the real problem, as noted by many, is that those in control are manipulated by the money forces. obama is the same, but worse with a social agenda counter to our history.

90% of political talk radio content is rightwing. this has nothing to do with public taste. thi shas to do with who owns the radio industry....primarily clear channel and a few other big players. they have killed radio as listeners have bailed.
but it will collapsem let's return a reasonable ownershipcap on the # of stations anyone can own. Clear Channel should not own 933 stations (it was up to 1400).
we need to get rid of these oligarchies in all sectors.

"Fix the elections" - that sounds like the complete opposite of what a democracy is. We had 8 years of conservative politics and now we will have 4 to 8 years of democratic/liberal politics. If you guys want rigged elections, then go to Iran--something like that just happened. Sorry, but I do not agree with Morris. There are far less radical ways to fix the issues at hand.

Democrats and Republicans are virtually the same. The problem is our candidates get picked for us, we only get to choose between bad and worse. Do you really think Bush was our best choice? Do you really think Obama was our best choice? It isn't about Republican or Democrat, it is about the people, and the people have not had a representative in the white house with our best interests in mind for decades. If you don't think our elections are fixed you are blind, we are worse than Iran in ways.

I have been reading the comments and I can't help but notice how immature so many of them are. It is fine to disagree with somones viewpoint, but it sure doesn't say much about your viewpoint when all you do is use foul language and attack someone personally. If the type of language and "opinions" voiced here are a sampling of the liberal's views maybe it would be better for them to remain silent until they learn how to discuss things in a more mature and educated way.
