  • Youtube seems to be on the mend as of an hour ago.

Thanks for hanging in there with the comment glitch! We appreciate the comments!

  • @koszghey

For some reason comments from Europe are being registered in my inbox on YouTube, but I can not access the messages. Very frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you. This rendition was totally improvised... I inevitably draw on my musical influences. I learned this tune in high school from the James P. Johnson stride recording and am a great admirer of McKenna's version which was played often on KLON (jazz station in L.A.). My influences are many.....I recorded this tune in 2004 with clarinetist Jack Maheu; soon to be released on the Audiophile label. I'll have to go back to that cut to see what I did in the jazz quartet format.

  • @jazznbear Greetings: I can't imagine how this exchange seeps out of the past. The McKenna mention was meant to be complimentary. You now know better my appreciation of your work. When YouTube asked me to select a name, no matter what American sounding name I tried, they said "taken". Then they suddenly cancelled "koszeghy" w/o expl, and I went through the same thing to get to "herrwilhelm". My very best to you and Martha.

This is the darndest thing.....I can see that you have made a comment ...but to read it takes playing the comment over and over and clicking the mouse at the exact moment.....somewhat like catching a fly ball in the sun.............no idea what is going on with YouTube....always something new.

Thanks as always for your kind and knowledgable input!!!!!!!!

  • A very fine mixture jazz piano elements. Deliberate, or otherwise, is there some similarity to your left hand, at the outset and other places, to things that Dave McKenna uses often? Your playing is very creative on top of your great technique, and you span many styles.
