  • i was just wondering how effectively you guys would do pinned against a wall with no traction?

  • I'd think we'd have more pushing power than bots that rely completely on driven wheels. ;D

  • Haha very nice! Our team was joking around for a while about driving our robot by propeller having a good laugh too. Then someone said "Well ya know someones gonna do it..."

Best of luck from Team 1287,

    Myrtle Beach SC

  • Thanks for the advice and support. The only problem with welding is that our welder doesn't have the conversion to weld aluminum xD

  • Best of luck to you.

This was one of the ideas out team was toying around with but I think our powertrain guys picked more conventional approach. Have you calculated how much current those two motors will draw? If you pull 50 amps at 12 V for 3 mins your battery will take much longer to recharge - you may need many spare batteries.

What regional are you going to attend?

  • Well we're a second year team.. so we're gonna have 4 batteries total. Otherwise, we can hopefully borrow a few from some senior teams.

And we'll be attending The Northstar Regional in Minnesota.

  • What are thinking of using this for? propulsion would be a joke, the surface isn't antifriction it is just low friction, you cannot move with a propeller, and blowing balls away from your trailer is illegal

  • Actually it is possible to move we did the calculation and one of those propellers have about 30 newtons of power. Since we plan to have two it should be sufficient. As for the balls we don't plan on using the props for that.

  • Since when is blowing balls from your trailer illegal??

  • My apologies guys. One of our new team members was borrowing my computer during our last meeting, and posted that comment while I was still logged in. Apparently I need to have a little chat with him about using a computer belonging to someone else, and what gracious professionalism really means. Good luck with your idea. I actually think it is a very cool concept.

  • haha nice save lol
