thats such a cholo mexicain and a ricer thing to do and btw as a mechanic i know ur never supposto paint drum brakes because they will over heat, the paint traps in the heat, its ok for calipers not drums, wow have fun burning ur brakes!

@girblee Rear brakes do about 25% of the stopping so they dont really have that much stress on them if your just doing city driving, unless u race, but then u have calipers if your racing.

@hussman101 well actually to be fully corect, drums stop better than disk but disk cool faster but when drums get wet they are not strong and can fail unlike disk, and when u paint drums what ever heat you do create stays and gets trapped inside! its ok for calipers because everything is exposed, nothing is getting trapped in!

@girblee completely wrong, disks perform better than drums, drums are actually older technology just so you know, thats why most cars these days come with disks in the front and rear, the only thing is drums are easier and cheaper to maintain, disks perform way better.

i dont really have an account on youtube i just go on the website to watch vidios, but this vidio forced me to creat one, simply because of the stupidity of some of the comments, what you see hear is a DRUM brake, the whole item that the individual has sprayed red is simply nothing more than a metal gard, SHIELD if you will, the part that is being used to stop one's car is inside the sheild, THEIR FOR, no damage has happend to this brake.

its still usually a bad idea to pain the surface that touches the rim, because the paint on there will break down within 100 miles, and the wheel will lose some of the bolt tension. its ok if you just check the tension on the bolts for a while.
