Anyone thinks Dune and Children of Dune are the same thing like the Matrix movies, Star Trek and Star Wars movies, Stargate, The Dark Crystal, The Fifth Element, and Avatar? they all share similar themes.
Alia is one of my fave characters in the books and this is the best Dune movie ever as it's better than Sci-fi's first effort and the 1984 Lynch monstrosity. Alia was casted perfectly.
Perfect? have you read the Dune book? Lynch's movie was a terrible expensive parody of the novels than an actual adaptation and nothing more than a movie that reflects the ego of David Lynch with his perversion of the novel. Lynch knew nothing about the book and was a miscast director for such a project. Mark my words, the new 3 or 4 part big screen Dune movie will make fans of the novel like myself happy and erase the memory of Lynch's abortion for it was a fucking Lynch movie.
Im not sure which version of her death i prefer, the one from the book or series, in the book she ran out of a window, in the series she stabs herself of course.
Also Alia did bring down what Vladimir Harrkonen wanted in the end of the Atreides ... if you read God Emperor of Dune . 3000 years . Leto II still rules as Emperor .
Alright sense someone asked the question on the back story . Yes Alia killed her own grandfather in the landsraad gathering over Rabban's debacle of keeping Arrikas in check . The line is this . Jessica was a product of a viscious rape upon Reverend Mother Mohiam who happens to be in the main Dune series as Shaddam's truthsayer . Alia is an adbomination who can't control all the other voices at once but blocking out those that are good for her .. she chose her own grandfather .
@MandalorianfromtheAL Jessice wasn't a product of rape...the Bene Gesserits sent one of the sisters to seduce the Baron...I think it was the only time he was with a woman and it wasn't Rev Mother Mohiam either....her mother has always been unknown.
Yes she was , the mother was Revrend Mother Mohiam . Read the novel House Atreides , Mohiam , was sent to concieve a child from Vladimir , the first conception failed the second one the Baron decided to humilate her . Thus Jessica was born .
Just out of curiosity you could have explained the backstory easily in that post. She was awakened to the history of all previous reverend mothers while in her mothers womb (because of a ritual her mother did). Being pre-born to that kind of consciousness makes a person susceptible to possession and she was possessed by her grandfather who wanted her to destroy the Atreides line. (He was Harkonnen). That is where it gets too complex. Book time.
The lyrics fit suspiciously well.

Poor Alia, such a tragic path she had to walk. A very sad part she had to play. At the end, all she wanted was her brother.

@Gregoryxyz
I know and she loved her brother very much.

@MandalorianfromtheAL Since for me those books are not the true story I will always see it how Frank Herbert wrote it.
