  • Baltovich had nothing to do with the murder. Forensics and alibis (verified by police) proved his innocence. The Crown and Police hid evidence that proved his innocence also. They are being sued for that presently. The reason the Crown admitted no evidence is that the trial would have publicly exposed the Crown and police and Baltovichs innocence. He is a proven innocent man, and that is a fact. thank you

  • Also @Toner283 , I've read the Derek Finkle book... It is clear that the author believed in Rob's innocence... Keep in mind a book could probably be written to portray him as guilty. It's really just the author's opinion. That said, I am with Rob Baltovich, I don't think he had anything to do with Elizabeth Bain's disappearance, but my opinion is not just based on a book...

  • @ascopes1 'Just because he was found not guilty, doesn't make him innocent.' - What country do you live in? Surely you've heard of 'Innocent until proven guilty'? So you couldn't be more wrong... He was found not guilty, he IS innocent.

  • @KingKingston excuse me? just because a jury of your peers finds you innocent doesn't mean you didn't do it..it means there wasn't enough evidence pointing at you...so everyone found not guilty is innocent in your mind? talk about blind ideology.

  • doe's he have a wife

  • whether or not he's guilty, the trial was a joke and he should have never gone to jail, that's basically the big point here

  • maybe robert could tell us why he once told a prison guard that they'd never find her body?

i could go on but you see where i'm going. the potential for mistakes swings both ways. he got away with murder because the timing and location couldn't have been better..especially since at the time there was a rapist on the loose, who better for a defense attorney to pin a murder on?

  • They have no evidence to indicate that he did do it...so I think your comment is unnecessary...the guy didn't kill his girlfriend. He was at the gym at the time she went missing.

She left to go to UofT to check out her tennis schedule and never returned home. She didn't even go to see her boyfriend!

    There was no motive here.

I think it's time that people leave Robert alone. He's been through a lot, and is not even a murderer.

  • all I'm saying is that if one accepts that innocent people have been convicted, imprisoned, and later exonorated and released, then you have to accept that there's significant probability of a truly guilty person being released, too.

mistakes and miscarriages of justice have the potential to swing both ways..

therefore, the correct statement would be 'robert 'probably' didn't kill her.' you can't say he didn't with absolute certainty.

  • Wrongful convictions occur when police/judges believe in their intuitive capabilities detecting criminals ( relying on gut instincts) Studies indicate that police/judges aren't good at detecting criminals based on intuition alone

So despite lack of evidence, police arrested Robert based on hypnosis witness accounts..a lot of the evidence was FALSE..wrongful convictions happen. The only time police let prisoners out is when they're certain that they didn't commit the crime. As was the case here.

  • You don't know for a fact that he didn't kill his girlfriend. There were no other suspects. I don't believe it was Paul Bernardo. Bernardo was obsessed with rape. Bain wasn't raped.

There isn't enough substantial evidence pointing to anyone. Her parents seem to believe it was him. Clearly, they feel their daughter was being mistreated. Jealous boyfriends can do crazy things.

  • Actually how do you know she wasn't raped? She may have been and then killed just like Paul Bernardo did to three of his victims (murdered and raped).

So I don't know why you are assuming that he really did it. He didn't and it's because of thinking like yours that get innocent people in jail just because they are closely related to the victim.

  • ok...you need to relax. You sound like baltovich's cheerleader. I didn't say he did it. I said there were no other suspects.and her parents feel strongly that it was him. Why don't you take all your anger and write a book. Were you an investigator during the murder case? You seem to think you know a lot about it. Just because he was found not guilty, doesn't make him innocent. We don't know who did it. That's the problem. He was a suspect, there were things clearly pointing to him.

  • He attended U of T's Scarborough campus, from which Bain disappeared, and took his girlfriends to adjoining Colonel Danforth Park.

Receipts found in Bernardo's house in St. Catharines show he frequented various stores in, or near, the Scarborough area around the time of Bain's disappearance.

An ex-Bernardo girlfriend knew Bain and introduced her to Bernardo in the mid-'80s. The ex-girlfriend also had a crush on Bain's brother, which once caused Bernardo to fly into a jealous rage.

  • @ascopes1 How the hell do you know she wasn't raped? It sounds like you know something?

  • @dawgawful I'm going on what police said and what evidence they gathered...I was 11 years old when this happened...get a life, loser.

  • @ascopes1 Again, How do the police know she wasn't raped,The poor girls body has never been found! Is the book by Derek Finkle the one called "No Claim To Mercy"?

  • @dawgawful anyone can write a book on their opinion...do you think the police release all their findings to the public? there must be something the police know that would have them conclude she wasn't raped.

  • @ascopes1 Again, How does anyone know she wasn't raped? So what your saying is that the police found the body and didn't tell anyone?

  • @dawgawful omg...no that's not what I'm saying...you don't know what they found in that car...I'm not a forensic scientist but for the police to make a bold statement like that, they clearly had something that pointed to that fact.

  • The reason he said so and I spoke him personally during a talk he gave at York University, was the fact the police gave up the search for Elizabeth Bain after her car was found. He also stated which you conviniently fail to mention, was that if they kept searching at the time they probably would've found her. Get your fact straight.

  • Have you ever read the book? He did not murder her. I am 100 percent sure he did not murder her.

  • There is no such thing as 100%.
