  • Fucking air planes and fucking Boeing. Taking all the greatest creativity and leaving us with utter crap! I bet Justin Bieber would never die in a plane crash cause hes got no tallent.

  • I had a dream once. And I never heard this song in my life before. And I heard it in that dream, it was scary :o

  • aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh torture

  • the man was a pure genius well he was just awsome at the age of 22 we lost an excellent artist........

  • @bexnbazify yes, that fateful plane crash robbed the world of one of the all time greats in music...

  • @Pequinito Norman Petty did not write this song, the only reason his name is listed with Buddy as writing Maybe Baby is because he was cheating Buddy out of song writing royalties. He tricked Buddy into adding his name on the songs by telling him the records would sell better with Petty's name on the label. Buddy didn't know this would let Petty get half the song writing royalties forever.

  • @Pequinito So he did die? Because the guy who played him in the movie has split personalities pertaining to a motorcycle crash.

  • @Pequinito 3rd February 1959. The day the music stopped.

  • This is an awesome song!!! -3 im doing a research on buddy holly.. I feel sorry that he died in a plane crash at age if 22.. :/ wish he lived longer..

    50 Years Ago Today

    RIP Buddy Holly.

  • God, has it been 50 years :(

  • Would I be correct in saying that this year is the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Big Bopper and RItchie Valens. Or was it last year?

  • You're right, 2009 is the 50th anniversary of that fateful plane crash :(

  • Buddy the Holly the 1st punk rock star.

  • Man this is one great song. I was only 12 in 57, but I remember it like it was just yesterday.

    So maybe they're the kings.

  • ooh, the worst thing anyone can do is tell me Elvis is the "King of Rock and Roll" lol I"ll go off on a tangent.

  • hey

ELVIS is good as well you no there both the king off rock and roll

  • I must be in outer space-Buddy is the King!!!!

  • Mr. Holly, I think you are amazing! Your music will live on forever! You might be one of my favorite American acts. You and Roy Orbison are my two favorites! I didn't know that Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison were from the same part of Texas. In fact, they were "Next Town Neighbors".

Roy Orbison & Buddy Holly = Always Remembered

  • is thisbuddy holly? i dont think so but its really good@!

  • thanks, it's a cover version in tribute to buddy holly and hollydazetribute :)

  • big buddy holly fan and loved the show. you always get me dancing; your music is catchy.

  • thank you, appreciate your kind comment :)

  • Great tribute!!:D

Where dou you find these wonderful backing tracks??

  • Thanks, this backing track is by Backstage

  • LOL...... ppl think Elvis was the king of rock and roll, I beg to differ! Buddy was the true king of rock and roll! Who's with me??

  • The chances are Elvis would not have been 'King' if Buddy Holly had not died.

  • And Elvis would not be the king if not Eddie Cochran had not died

  • Elvis was not in the same class as Buddy Holly

  • I saw you down town and you never said Hi...shame on you!!

  • this doesn't sound like buddy holly, the voice. it's different. what'd you alter?

  • Buddy's mom made this song

  • Damn it the good die young.son of a bitch. look at 6 of the worlds best and their all dead!Lennon,Harrison,Holly,Bopper,Valens!

  • That's true :(

  • Kurt Cobain too

  • I think that his drummer was drunk and he hit buddy with his head in the tooth and Buddy lost 2 teeth. He filled the gap with gum.

  • yep, or at least thats what the movie shows

  • yes it was in the film called buddy holly

  • ya it is sad thanks for your comment too

  • I saw Buddy Holly live in concert in 1957 in Tulsa. He could really arch back and let loose with those ringing chords, bopping around the stage. He must have been told not to do that on Ed Sullivan Show.

  • He was one of a kind :)

  • Buddy Holly was a pioneer. You think the Beatles are big? Had he lived, he would have

been right up there with them. A huge, huge loss!

  • That's for sure :)

  • the beatles got their name from the crickets and were inspired alot by hollys work, he would have been one of the best.

    he is anyway!!!!

  • most definitely... even the stones had an early hit with a cover of Not Fade Away :)

  • Really? I thought the Beatles got their name from something involving a drum? Haha, wait, I don't know, I just listen to their music.

But anyway, the reason I looked this up is because I was listening to Don Mclean's song "American Pie" and Buddy Holly had a huge part in that song...

I think he just gained a new fan. =)

  • I'm no authority on the Beatles, but I believe they named themselves in tribute to Buddy Holly's group the Crickets (beetles=crickets=similar insects). Anyway, thanks for the comment :)

  • i when and see buddy holly the story i though it was goin to be shit coz lyk i onli 17 and i when with my nan lol but omg it was great go and see it my mum goin with my nan lol again omg it great :D

  • im only 17 lol!

  • sad he died my fave song is everyday these are my fave lines

EVERYDAY LIFE IS GETTING CLOSER GOING FASTER THAN A ROLLER COASTER

  • that's a great song with great lines, thanks for the comment :)

  • I saw a TV interview with Buddy's mother many years ago. She said that she did not write "Maybe Baby" as some had thought. She said that it was an expression that she used when her kids asked for a favour. "Maybe Baby!" was her answer. Buddy picked up on this as he had on "That'll be the Day" (from a '56 John Wayne movie 'The Searchers'}Nevertheless, a Great Tune! (PS>- Buddy's mother did get a songwriting credit for "Buddy's Song" which was sucessfully recorded by Bobby Vee and Fleetwood Mac.

  • Thanks for sharing this info; I didn't know about Buddy's Song either, though That'll Be The Day is explained by Brian Best with a great impersonation of John Wayne on his Hollydaze Tribute video :)

  • Way ahead from his time! Possibly if he was alive today he would be a legend such as Bob Dylan or something.... And he could have written many more beautiful songs...

  • That's right; he set a new trend with his use of strings in "It doesn't matter any more", a posthumous #1 and "True love ways"; thanks for the comment :)

  • Nice great music

  • its so sad how buddy holly died though it makes me want to cry

  • Yes, it's sad, but at least his music lives on, thanks for the comment :)

  • Now, Buddy's mom actually DID write "Maybe Baby," which Buddy recorded basically unchanged. Norman Petty gave Buddy free studio time in exchange for Petty's name being on the record label.

  • Sounds like Buddy's mom was pretty smart :)

  • Norman Petty didn't write any part of "Maybe Baby"... Buddy's mother wrote the lyrics as kind of a joke song for Buddy. He looked at it and realized it was great song his mom had just written, so he and Joe B. and J.I. put it to a simple, sing-song melody and recorded it at Petty's Norvajak Studios. Petty worked a deal with Buddy to give them free studio time in exchange for Petty's name on the label.

  • I had read about Petty not having written any of Buddy's songs even though his name appears on the writer credits, but the rest of your comment is new to me. So thanks for the info :)

  • Actually from I know it was a poem written by Buddy's Mother.

  • nice one--------hollehop

  • thanks very much :)

  • My nan loved buddy holly, god bless them both.

  • well done m8.......

  • thanks vm :)

  • If I was born 2 days later, I'd share his b-day by a clean 50 years.
