• "One boy to joke with, to smoke with, do coke with"...?

  • @rerun62696 one boy to laugh with, to joke with, have coke with. As in Coca Cola haha (:

  • 1:47 - boner.

  • The 2 people who disliked this: The like button is on the left, if you didn't know already!

  • This is so cute-3 that girl is so familiar.. She's from a movie when she's a lot older..

  • I'm so relieved that rosie's part is lower. I got her in our school musical. And I'm NOT a soprano.

  • Just realized this is the only movie Bobby Rydell was ever in. Ann was a born pro......but watch Bobby in this song, as he can't figure out where to put his hands, esp w/ Ann Margret in front of him.....I fainted after my mid-term exams after cramming too!

  • have coke with lol

  • <3 i belive my school did this play

  • I still sing this to John Lennon.

  • @redfordforpresident So far, John Lennon has not sung back to me, "One Girl".

  • @redfordforpresident Duh, he's JOHN LENNON.

  • give me a a decent guy like hugo, that's all i'm asking for:/

  • So many din't know Janet Leigh could sing

Including herself as she nearly turned-down the part !

  • My school is doing this musical! I am trying out for Kim!!!!

    crossing my fingers.

  • Nice backyard haha

  • You've got to give Rydell credit. He didn't like Hollywood and left.

  • One boyyy one special boy one boy to walk with to talk with to stalk with...

  • I love Hugo..I wish he wasnt old now. :(

  • 5 years ago, I did this show at my old high school. Now I'm doing it again at a local theater. Watching this reminds me of how wonderful an experience it was back in the day and how great it is that I'm gonna be reliving that joy in another month.

  • MMMMMMMM she's perfECT :D

  • WOW. I wonder how many " takes" did Bobby have to do to get the kissing scene right.....Some guys have all the luck...

  • This melody sounds exactly like a Richard Rodgers melody; even though it's not. Composer Charles Strouse hit this right on the head. Love this song!

  • Thats the way it should be!

  • Last week I saw a restored print of Bye Bye Birdie here in Los Angeles. Ann Margret and Bobby Rydell both spoke after the screening. What a treat! Ann was sweet and Bobby was funny. They are still good friends and you could still see the chemistry between them. Oh, and the high school footage was shot at my junior high in Hollywood – I actually watched them shoot the “We love You Conrad” number. Didn't know who Ann Margret was or I would have been really excited.

  • pause @ 1:49, gorgeous

  • That cut at 5:09 always makes me cringe. Wonder why they had to change shots?

  • I love her green dress! And Bobby's voice is amazing!

  • HOMEWORK!

  • i like this song as a duet :)

  • Wow. What a woman.

  • Ann Margret was smokin in her day!

  • Would be nice if Hugo sang this song in the play, or sang at all in the play xD

  • Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!

    Great Thanks!!!!!!!!

That's What The Tune I LONG Have Searched for!!!!!!!!

I Thought It Was Sung by Joanie Sommers.

But This Version's Ann Margaret's Performance and BackGround Are PERFECT!!!!!!!!

I'm Amazed The Color Quality of Video THEN is Fantastically Beautiful!!!!!!!!

  • A Classic! I'm glad they presented the song in this way and not like the way it is done in the play!

  • Bobby looks like he's in a lot of pain at the end, hahaha

  • @rbuccin actually no. He's not singing about what he needs, he's singing about what kind of guy she needs and saying it's himself in a way

  • i love you bobby rydell

  • wow, you can see a lot of jamie lee curtis in janet leigh in this clip.

  • his face when she kisses him..lol

  • I wonder what Ann-margret is up to these days

  • @robertmarc1 Finding other Singers to have affairs with...

  • @robertmarc1 She's still beautiful and acting. She just won an Emmy for her guest spot on Law & Order SVU. She's 69, and it's crazy how good she looks, sans plastic surgery. What I would give to be Bobby Rydell in this clip!

  • she has such a small waist, goshh....

  • @xxmaggieee he's nice and thin, too.

  • @xxmaggieee It was the 50's/60's, it was socially accepted for people to look like Barbie dolls.

  • I always felt that he should be singing "one girl" not "one boy". He's suppose to be her boy friend right? go figure

  • I'm auditioning for Kim in my High School's version of "Bye Bye Birdie". I'm extremely nervous, but I think this has helped me a lot. (:

Ann Margret has a beautiful voice <333

  • Hugo <3

  • Hugo <3

  • I love Ann Margret..she is excellent performer.....

  • lol they are NOT 16

  • @strongbutmighty they're far too beautiful

  • The "Grand-Passion." and Janet Leigh did NOT want to sing in this musical. I thought she did well....and so sid Tony and Jamie.

  • The "Grand-Passion."

  • we are doing this show for show chorus this year its gonna bee sweet!!!

  • oh my gosh Im singing this song for auditions today at school today

  • Michael Cera reminds me of Bobby Rydell so much.

  • @SeddieiShip oh my gosh you're right

  • I love this! <3 :)

  • I'm being considered for the lead in this play, but i'd never heard the songs. Fuck. I can't sing this. My voice is low and horrible. This is.... far too beautiful. FUck.

  • @beo275 I totally agree!!!! I wish things like that were still that way!!!!

  • That was sooo cute when he said "Homework! I got homework to do!" Nowadays...guys say "Drugs! Video Games!" haha love the time gap differences.

  • 1:50 Wow, Ann-Margret is soooo dreamy!

  • i played hugo in our Bye Bye Birdie last night, i listened to this and totally cried like a baby! i miss everyone so much!!

  • Hugo is adorable haha

  • I love the part when they say "that's the way it should be." *sigh* So beautiful.

  • IM IN LOVE WITH HUGO!

  • ugh, I could just never get tired of this video, I mean they were perfect for these roles for the film...the whole cast in general. Bobby Rydell is like the perfect Hugo ♥ and Ann-Margret she add a more teen who is becoming a woman, than a typical teenage obnoxious type, she was not like that at all... sigh i am super jealous.

  • Rydell gets wood at 1:47 - lol

  • oh WHAT a kiss!!

  • They were wonderful . The beautiful Ann- Margret ! Lovely voice ! Bobby Rydell was also great . They still are wonderful and true class !! A fan forever . One of my favorite movies !!

  • When life was simple!!!!!!

I hear a lot of "Forget Him", and other songs Just Beatiful.

    just beautiful!

    Joseph F.

  • My God...she's beautiful. Such garbage today to look at!

  • This is a note to everyone! Someone please upload Bobby Rydell one GIRL version. Thx!

  • I love this song I love the harmonizing with the two women at the end its very cute!

  • Can someone upload this whole movie I would really like to see it again!

  • @latinahoney123 check barnes and noble's website, they have it fairly cheap and it's SOOO worth the price they do want.

  • @OldHollywoodJunkie7 I actually have the movie but I wanted to see it on the net but thanks anyways! I got the dvd a long time ago my mom got it for me cause she got me into the movie, I have no idea where she found it at though.

  • how beautiful

  • This song is breath taking...thank you so much for this video! :D

  • What memories are made of...beautiful and memorable.

  • i'm friends with bobby's grandson, and he looks like his twin here. its so weird! but anyway, i love this version almost as much as i love matt doyle/allie trimm's :)

  • haha.. funny you say that about taxicab confessions.. cause i just watched it at 5 this morning and thought man i need to find out who originially sang it and bam.. it's on this movie i never watched.. so i'm now goin' to get it from Netflix.. if they have it that is.. but it is a small world after all.

  • I want Kim's dress!

  • @DarthFleur I'll take dorky Hugo!

  • @DarthFleur I want KIm's body and hair.. haha

  • This brings back many good memories. I first saw the original Broadway production at the Schubert Theatre in NYC during summer of '61. What a production. It made you laugh, cry and everything inbetween. We need more musicals like this.

  • i'm Kim in our schools production and this song is my biggest challenge. I cant even get through the first 7 seconds without cringing! I'm so worried ill blush on stage(and i only blush one color; beat red!) I remember watching the movie AFTER i got the part (something I'll never do again) and thinking "what have i gotten myself into?" plus, the song is in a higher range than i am comfortable in.

  • Where are all the creative promoters????

WHY AREN'T THESE TWO GREAT STARS

    BACK ON STAGE TOGETHER TODAY???

Bobby's voice just improves with age and

    his stage presence is magnetic.

Anne Margret is still spectacular and

    a dream come true.

  • Wanna laugh out loud? At 0:38 change the word "Have" into "Snort."

When I was in high school and we put on this play, the lead actress kept doing that in rehearsals as a joke. The director was not amused and worried that she might accidentally slip up and do it during the actualy performance (which the parents would have certainly found even less amusing). He made her change the verb into "Drink" just to be on the safe side, as the word "Have" was a little too ambiguous.

  • @IDLERACER lol i sing it like that everytime.

  • @IDLERACER ohmygod.

    thats awesome :D

  • @IDLERACER Thank you for sharing that with us.

  • @IDLERACER ~ For decades, I've ALWAYS heard it as "do coke with"!

  • @IDLERACER lol! i wish somebody would've done that at my school when we performed bye bye birdie. that would've been hilarious!!!

  • @IDLERACER That's the difference between that generation and yours.

  • Of course, Janet Leigh was Jamie Lee Curtis's mom!!! Dad was Tony Curtis...

  • i am rosie in this play

  • SWEETEST SCENE CHEMISTRY EVER!

  • Totally agree! and like other posters have wrote in today's day and age most people think that's if someone likes musicals than there weird or gay. Musicials (and timeless music in general) are healing agents for the heart and soul...The human voice, when it has that "gift," is the most wonderful instrament ever and yes, you may not be able to be able to "escape into your favorite musical forever"...you have "come out of the clouds" eventually so to speak, but you CAN carry songs in your heart

  • I always loved Bobby Rydell. Not only was he handsome. he could actually sing and act.. I read that the great comic Red Skelton wanted Bobby to be his protege. But then Bobby seemed to disappear off the face of the earth. Since we d[dn't have the internet or even that much entertainment coverage forty years ago. it took me a long time to find out that he hadn't been comfortable in Hollywood, and went back home to Philadelphia. How smart to realize where he was happy.--arnie113

  • Yo Arnie: We like Bobby here in Philly

just being a regular guy, unlike the

Hollywood types. Quite a nice man,

very generous and charitible, and a

    tremendous crowd-pleaser on stage to

    this day.

  • when she sings in the begging one special boy it sounds like shes trying to hibnatize him or shes evil ro something! it just gives me the chills:)

  • Love this scene! Great song! But, Hugo looks constipated!!

  • Let's bring 'em back on stage together

    again!!!!!

Two great stars that still shine bright!!

    Magical together.....

    Any promoters listening??????

  • eek, i have to sing this in an audition for my school play next week. O.O i've got major stage fright too. but it should be fun once i get through the audition(:

  • look at that waist!

  • I have only just discovered Bobby Rydell having watched this film - what a great singing voice - he could give Elvis a run for his money. Is that Janet Leigh's real singing voice? if it is the she should have sung more! I need a time machine to go back to 1963 (the years i was born) and just live it! Ann-Margret's such a talented woman - it's nice to see all these performers enjoying long careers.

  • the movie is soooo much better than the musical

  • Anne Margret dazzled audience at Caesar's in Atlantic City this weekend.

Bobby Rydell scheduled for 7-21-09 in

Atlantic City always sounds great. Wow,

if we could get them together on stage

    together!!!!

  • OMG how does she had such a tiny waist!?!?!? :(

  • A foundation garment that cinches her waist. Look at Ann in I Gotta Lotta Livin' To Do: she has a normal waist.

  • Before the Big Mac !!!!!!

  • the Big Mac? haha

    those are gross though...

  • Agree !!!!

  • i love bobby rydell!

  • so so so so cute :) i'm trying to find the dvd of my school play when we performed BYE BYE BIRDIE in 8th grade[6 years ago]. good times <3. the girl who played her at my school was just as good :)

  • does hugo sing??

  • Yes, Hugo sings. He's Bobby Rydell who

had 32 top 40 hits from 1959-64. Today

he performs all over the world in concert

and still sounds sensational. If you have

older relatives ask them more about him.

  • ohhh noo

I meant like in the musical, not the movie, does Hugo sing at all?

  • I think so. =)

  • Look at Gotta Lotta Livin' To Do. Hugo sings a solo. He was a doll. My parents took us to see this at the drive-in when it was in its first release.

  • no hugo doesnt usually singg. because ursula nd nancy r singing in harmony in the parts where hugo singgs in this video.

  • omg Rosie has to hit some insane low notes! im a soprano 1 an could nvr hit that! heehee im Kim in Bye Bye Birdie this summer! :D

  • GOOD LUCK! I love this play!

  • I was in high school when this came out and this song is still dreamy to me! I had such a crush on Bobby. Tons of good songs from this movie.

  • i love ann in this movie and espically in this part she was so pretty

  • haha it was barely a kiss!

  • I loved this film when I saw it nearly 50 years ago----funny as heck then. Don't know how if it's held up...and heard at the time that it was nice Bobby R got the part as he was known as a genuinely nice guy.

  • Bobby was the perfect choice to star with

the gorgeous and talented Anne Margaret.

Take heart concentricity000, in real life

Bobby is one helluva nice guy, just like on

screen 46 years ago...trust me on this.

  • I'm happy to hear you say what a nice guy Bobby is. He was my favorite singer growing up. "Wild One" was my signature "cover." "One Boy" is one of my favorites.

  • I love this song! His voice is so dreamy!

  • Geez I wish I was around that decade. When Boys like girls n girls liked boys in that way. When life was so simple n guys were acturally allowed to go to a girls house like that. O I wonder if I could find my own Hugo.

  • I was lucky to be 14 when this film came out. . People respected each other, each other's property and privacy. We spoke to each other in person or by phone verbally. Nowadays everything is typed out in emails or textmessages. Very impersonal. Pregnancy was not the way to find love and affection. We were responsible for our own behavior, NOT blaming everyone else, God or the Government for what WE did wrong. It is tough being a teenager no matter what generation.

  • Yea your right its hard being a teenager in any decade, as of right now i just turned 18 n it sucks right now for me...lol

  • Happy Birthday MusicalMel1991. Glad you made it to 18. Teen years are so tough. Everything moves too fast, too much is expected of you etc. As a survivor of terrible teens all I can say is hang in there, patience, don't rush things, believe in yourself, trust yourself and accept responsibility for your behavior. No matter how terrible something seems now, give it two days-- it will feel better plus you will have a better understanding of what happened. Give yourself a break always.

  • Yes, you are so right. I love being in a relationship now, but I sometimes wish it didn't have so much technology in it. I wish things could be as simple and as sweet as they are in this movie.

  • Star-- you can make it as simple as you wish it to be, by just doing it.

  • Yeah, that's true too. :)

  • I wish you luck and happiness in whatever decision you make. Just remember you aren't alone. We have all been through most of it before. :)

  • Thanks again. And thanks to you, things have gotten better in my relationship. :)

  • good to hear that. Keep your chin up no matter what.

  • @MusicalMel1991 I know exactly what you mean. I wish people were still kind of like that these days, so sweet and simple.

  • @MusicalMel1991 yeah, it would be weird if you do musical in real life.

  • @MusicalMel1991 I totally agree. Im not even allowed to have guys over. If it was that simple, and guys liked girls in that simple way, and didnt just want to get in their pants, it would be amazing. I would love to live then :]

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE

  • Pause at 1:50, Ann Margret is so beautiful.

  • She is so gorgeous

  • Charming.

If only Life really were so sweet and wholesome as that. At least they tried to make it so back then; now people spurn the chance. I have no idea why, but it sure makes me sad.

  • concen..Perhaps the fact that life can never and will never be like the movies makes said movies so special to us. I agree though,... sometimes, it would be nice to disappear into one's favorite movie forever.

  • My favorite scene in the movie BYE BYE BIRDIE.

  • It is a shame great musicals with good story lines aren't made nowadays. To bad the present generation is captured by violence, murder and gross behavior.

  • i know even when they tried to make hairspray a movie, nobody appreciated it! nobody like's musicals now. only if your "weird" or "gay" you like musicals. its upsetting.

  • All my friends at my school loves musicals. Of course, they all aspire to be actresses and singers. But still! I aspire to be a mnagka, but I ADORE musicals!

  • I'm in the current generation and though most are only interested in violence etc. there are a few of us who still love this type of movie. This is one of my favorite time periods and I will always wonder what it would be like to live this kind of life. I would love to.

  • I was in high school when this movie was shown in Manila. I tell you, it was really great and I feel very fortunate to be in my teens in the 60's. Great movies, great songs, great performers! And many Revivals gave a big push to the careers of many of the present performer of today.

  • Ann Margret and Bobby are such a cute couple. They should've appeared in other movies together. This is one my favorite scene in bye bye birdie, I also love the scene where Hugo (Bobby Rydell) punched Conrad Birdie so Kim can't kiss him, That scene was awesome.

Somebody posted the whole movie in you tube but they deleted it. :( . If anyone happens to have to have the whole movie posted, please tell me.

  • there is, its posted by colomgm

  • This movie bring great memories for me. I remember seeing this at the movie when ticket were less $2.

  • weren't they 25 cents?

  • the year this movie came out the average movie price (nationwide) was 85 cents

btw, gasoline was about 18 cents a gallon that same year (1963)!
