I bought an Archos 43 some days ago because I wanted to upload videos in HD quality directly from my mobile device. so when I was on youtube I selected "upload video" and a list of folders to choose files from popped up---

-Music folder

-gallery

-voice recording

So there was no video folder with all my recordings in that list :(

What to do? There must be a way to upload VIDEOS...

please help me

@MrIPlayIt just synch your archos to your pc into a new folder then you would have the clip on your desktop then just upload it to youtube right there

This thing might have a nice CPU but the screen is dodgy (resistive YUCK) and the battery might fail on you (my mother's Archos 7 Home Tablet started leaking after a year of use Archos products are known to fail and/or never receive updates) and for 200$ better options are appearing on the market (new tablet, the new PMPs from Samsung, etc. please don't kid yourself these are not good products. Also: please don't call me an asshole because I don't like Archos.

Ive been looking for a pocket tablet, that has wifi, a camera, uses android, can be jail broken to make phonecalls / text (so it has to be mic compatible), MicroSD would be a plus, and it HAS to be under $200

@Breakneckhydra1 Well keep an eye out for the HTC HD2 you can find one for 200$ now and it runs everything! Meego, WP7, Android, Honeycomb, etc.

That appears to be a phone tho, I can not currently afford a cellphone plan, if I buy one will it work without a plan? I need something for my home wifi so that I have my own cell number, so that whenever I'm at home or a friends house with wi-fi I can get calls / texts.

@Breakneckhydra1 Yes it is a cellphone but you can unlock it easily and you don't need to buy a contract with it anymore you can just buy as iPod like device and if you ever want to use it as a phone you can always put a SIM in it.

@Costerguy1234556 Only problem I really have with the new Samsung Galaxy players (US versions came out a few weeks ago) is that it won't tether to my feature phone via Bluetooth for internet. This is something the Archos does right out of the box, despite its screen and other shortcomings. The Samsungs have GPS built-in, while you would need a Bluetooth GPS unit to get the same function with the Archos. So there positives and negatives to each device and the Archos being older is less.

archos sucks.... i bought an archos 43IT, and within 2 days it had already started to fuck up on me, a week in, a portion of the screen stopped working, and a month in, its laggy as hell, the non working part of the screen is expanding......

im sorry to say, but fuck archos, just go and buy an ipod touch

Plus you can load different firmware (kills warranty though)

Its also cheaper.

Both have bugs but most can be gotten around and the others are likely to be fixed.

Wireless N been finalized for some time and works perfectly.

Your still getting the terms wrong or you just getting dial up speeds on yours...lol.

Ok basically all of todays wireless N tablets and phones do 105 Mbps which is enough to stream 720p and still be able to use the wireless for emails and surfing.

Wirless g speeds 54Mbps can stream 720 sort of (stuttering and buffering) but forget about doing anything else.

The reviews good and i like mine but you needs to get the terms correct.

Its unlikely to get androids gingerbread, but the modding groups are already working on that .

It also advertised as wireless b/g/n but its doesn't actually work with wireless n.

Thsi they know about and better be working hard to fix our be prepared to pay a lot of people back and get fined for false advertising.

@magnus33john It works with WiFi N, just not the 5Ghz part. Most portable devices do not support 5Ghz WiFi N anyways, so that's not surprising.

It can connect to wireless N but it doesn't function as a wireless device.

Speeds top out at 54 Mbps which is G speeds not N speeds

This of course makes it wireless N compatible but not wireless N capable..

Since it wasn't advertised as compatible its something they need to correct and it appears the hardware is capable of doing standard 105 Mbps wireless N capable phones do.

The router would have made no difference and streaming HD is very limited at best yet.

@magnus33john WiFi N 2.5Ghz tops out at same 54mbitps. Very few if any at all portable battery powered devices do the 5Ghz WiFi N bit. Still at same bitrate, WiFi N provides better range, lower lantecy and other advantages that Archos provides in the box.

802.11b tops out at 11 Mbps

802.11a tops out around 54 Mbps (5ghz rarely seen these days)

802.11g tops out also 54 Mbps (most common)

802.11n supports data rates over 100 Mbps

It doesn't matter if its 2.4ghz or 5ghz both well do the top speed of the router

Example.. My wrt400n 2.4ghz tops out at 260Mbps to my home theatre.

All wireless N routers these days are sold in three speeds 150/300/450.

Your getting confused over speeds and terms.

@magnus33john WiFi N is a mess anyways, you can't expect every portable pocketable wifi N device to support full 600Mbitps theoretical 4 channel Mimo blah blah maximum of the wifi n spec. I believe the Archos does support 720p MKV high profile high bitrate movies streamed over WiFi on the latest firmwares anyways, so what more can you demand from its wifi?

Also the archos 43 does connect to wireless N at 105 at first but quickly falls to 54Mbps.

So its clear they intended it to work just like any wireless N tablet or phone but they got problems.

Its likely a driver or firmware issue causing it to default to the wrong speeds.

Not really all that surprising since until recently there older hardware didn't do N.

A bug to be fixed but one they shall since it avoids getting in trouble for false advertising.

Respond to this video...  One other thing of note is that well the Upnp works fine the file app archos gives you doesn't deal correctly with samba so it tends to flack out when trying to connect to certain OS.

Ez file transfer from the android market (free) does work as it should though .

@magnus33john Not sure, I heard Windows 7 breaks Samba functionality in ways that disrupt Samba features not only with Archos devices but with plenty other devices out there. I don't know for sure what argumentation Microsoft uses, they may have said something about doing it for security reasons, or just to screw with the consumer electronics industry and block users of Windows 7 Starter Edition from using Samba freely.

Its true that the live adons can break Samaba but in the end if Samba is not broken on a windows 7 machine because of it you still have trouble connecting to the shares.

That file app wasn't made quite correctly and tends to fail or refuse passwords and logons to shares.

Even if your not using a password/logon.

But its a minor problem since its just one easily replaceable app.

Yes, it's resistive, as are all Archos devices. And yes, I agree, it would be perfect if it was capacitive (and if it was standard Android OS, not the stupid tweaked thing). But, the money saved is worth it, and also with my experience with newer Archos devices, the resistive touch-screens are very sensitive, and I enjoy the use of styluses.
