cliff is the man the best bass player i ever heard i have always wondered what this band would be like if cliff would have lived on i dont think cliff would be in the band because of the direction that metallica went in i think cliff would have played on the and justice for all album but not the black album
@slipknot789able Cliff was their friend. I hardly believe Cliff would have quit. They influence each other and always have. The sound may have been different but it doesnt mean he packs up and leaves.
Cliff is not just good bassist, but with him Metallica looks like a complete band. It is pity, that Jason never could become a really member of the band.
Yes Cliff was a bass player and an amazing one at that never will there be another one like him but I wish people would refer to him as a musician because he didnt just make noise on that bass he made music...R.I.P Cliff
Like when I was 10 years old and hearing this stuff, Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, Creeping Death EP' and Kill ' em All. Of course I moved to Death-metal. But this stuff with Cliff still creeps me all, RIP, Metallica never recovered from his death. This song is unique. The solo is so perfectly played (Mustaine/Hammett, both deserve credit).
brilliant stuff! back when James used to drink before shows. obviously from Justice onwards, when you're playing 180 dates in a year you need to look after your voice. but he never sounded than that 84-86 period
I always wanted to see a live recording of James singing Ride the Lightning before his voice went downhill.
If only James' played the song in '89, where his voice was at its peak.
And Kirk played that solo flawlessly. Would be great if he could still play it like that, but you know, I'm glad that Kirk doesn't improvise the Ride the Lightning solo nowadays as he does with most songs (especially the Fade to Black outro solo )
Better musically albums for sure. Why are Lightning and Puppets the real classics? Justice is great but onesided. Cliff has his input on the 2 albums and that's why. Load and reload? Should have been 1 album and everything else boring expet Death Magnetic. Black album was a fluke but successfull. Metallica without Cliff has never recovered song writing wise and never will.
I wonder where metallica would be today if cliff had lived. Cliff was the best metal bassist it's to bad a tragic accident took his life back in 1986.
this might have been the show where ozzy got cheered out for metallica. i love ozzy to the core, man, but its still pretty fuckin' sweet to hear about an underground band breaking through like that.
@newyork1222 you got a great deal now you cant even get a upper level seat for 14.50 the only way you can get 4th row at a concert now for 14.50 is if you know somebody that knows somebody that can hook you up are you still a metallica fan almost 25 years later
@newyork1222 if it cost that little now a days i would buy for me, my girlfriend, 3 of my friends, and my 3 year old son, even though i dont have one.

I'll agree with that. If cliff was alive we wouldn't of ever had albums like Reload or st anger.
